Yeh no need to reset just yet if it can all be solved for me by just having two Ocelots spawned. I can then breed them to maintain at least one as a pet.
A jungle biome would be nice to explore though. Let me know and I'll help out as I kind of like turning the normal forests into thicker ones. It'd be nice to have it a fair size then sort of fence it off (contain the wild Ocelots within it) and then not build anything in it. Could be set up like a park or something having a track running through it and some rest stops as well. Like Jurassic Park, but without the cages or Dinosaurs.

Sort of, but more of a free range sort of thing. Basically just a jungle with a bit of a path around it and really just Ocelots since everything else will spawn by itself.

I'm thinking a minecart track through a variety of mini-biomes with some mobs in them.

We could make both Zoo can be the next community project or something. Make it near spawn I guess. Had something like this in mind. Keeps the jungle biome up as the raised path would keep you away from Creepers and such and it'd have ways down so people could still gather resources from it.

For the jungle biome problem, instead of restarting the map, is it possible for dark to create a second, tempoary server with the 1.2 biome generation and copy a jungle in with MCedit, the same as he did with the buildings from the old world?

Same thing really I guess. Would end up the same way as just building the biome ourselves. Though if we did and implemented the walkway idea it would be easier as we could form it around it.
Up to Dark really, but it's not worth a reset yet.

Maybe, but it wouldn't effect weather.

Maybe, but it wouldn't effect weather.
Building the biome won't give it any special weather either (if they do give the Jungle biome some specific weather like mist or heavy rains). Whether MCEdit is used or we build it by hand, it will take the weather of whichever biome we place it in.
I could import one using MCEdit, but I'd have to take the world offline while I did it. On the other hand, I see at least two people keen on building a jungle by hand, so it sounds like it will be more fun to do the latter.
We aren't resetting the world just for jungles. I may consider it if they do more biome changes (i.e. once there's enough changes that we are clearly missing out on lots of new stuff), but I won't have any time for another "copy everyone's stuff" reset until May at the earliest. It's only been two months since the last reset, we can't keep resetting every 2 months or nothing will get completed and people will get jaded.

From the server FAQ:
Darkinnit's FAQ wrote:Can we have a mod on the server?
No. The Minecraft code is buggy enough as it is at the moment without introducing third party bugs into the mix. Additionally, most mods require all players to also install the mod on their computer too and this is not fair on players who are not interested in that mod. I'd like to quote Avatar 720 on this:
Right now, we're all seeing the same thing, and if people don't like it, then that's tough because it's vanilla Minecraft; that's Notch's problem, not ours. If we get mods and people don't like it, however, it then becomes our problem, since we chose to change things. People who previously played on the server might see the mods as a step backwards, or just in the wrong direction, and it's unfair to force people to play an optional version when the original version was fine
The DakkaDakka Minecraft server is raw Minecraft and will probably always stay that way.

What weather does the jungle have? We could just find a biome with matching or similar weather and insert it there. Ok, I will also give you a hand with building a jungle if thats what we are doing.

I like the sound of an island. It is sounding more and more like that Jurassic Park idea :-P
At the moment Jungles don't have any special weather, but they're still in development so that could change.

I'm really liking the idea of a jungle island with a secret jungle temple, some worn out docks and maybe a tribal village type thing.
It would work best if you were to MCedit a suitable island into an ocean somewhere to give us plenty of room.

Not sure if that's large enough to comfortably an island though.

It is plenty large, but we could always use an existing island, like this (depending whether is is an island or a peninsula):
