On Necromunda? It’s a yes, no, kinda situation.
The very core rules (turn structure, how you inflict casualties etc) remains the same as 2017.
But, the “outer” rules have changed, with each new release of the rulebook folding in FAQ and Errata, or redefining the options open to a given Gang.
So one hand? The game hasn’t changed editions in 8 years.
On the other? If you’re getting involved in a campaign with the 2017 rulebook and original soft back Gang Book? You’re not playing with a full deck.

I expect a revised Rulebook, minimum, with the Army Lists removed.
Lets guess we get Istvaan V themed Journals and the Stuff from Saturnine in Mini, inclusive Mk2 Marines?

Exactly.
It'll be something they announce on an odd monday or tuesday afternoon, rather than a big preview show on a Saturday evening.

It depends which way they go. Like the AT version, an updated starter box could just be a revised rulebook and a different selection of existing models. That would definitely be a Monday reveal.
Alternatively a starter box is the best time to launch a new infantry kit & other stuff, and that could headline LI content in the next preview stream.

I could see a Mk2 Infantry Sprue with:
1x Mk2 Praetor (looking like in the Saturnine Box)
1x Mk2 Apotecary and Standard Bearer
2x or 5x Mk2 Veteran (with Desintegrators?) for the Command Stand and/or a special weapon Sqaud
3x Saturnine Terminators (1x or 2x with Plasma)
1x Saturnine Terminator Sergeant
20x M2 Marine with Bolter
5x Mk2 Marine with Flamer
2x or 3x Mk2 Marine Sergeants
5x Mk2 Marine with Heavy Bolter
1x Mk2 Marine Sergeant with Heavy Bolter
5x M2 Assault Marine
1x M2 Assault Marine Sergeant
5x Mk3 Breacher
2x Sprue in a Box.

The Combat Forces could be interesting, effectively 4.5 boxes of models vs the 5 boxes which were in the battlegroup sets, so a lot will depend on whether the discount makes it worth it.
Particularly given the unit selection; standard Sicarians and regular Russes is a bit of shame when those are in the starter sets, alternative variants would have been nice.
Only thing I couldn't see any info on is whether these will have transfer sheets included. I only mention it as the Mechanicum Battlegroup didn't include any (pretty sure the others did), which was pretty annoying, so hoping that isn't the same here as that would reduce the value of it for me anyway (not so much on the Solar/Marine side as I have oodles of transfers spare).

Valrak has recently claimed that GW aren't doing preview streams for any of the events in October, and that the next one will be November. That likely means any announcements for at least the next few weeks would be posted on Mondays via WarCom.
Personally I believe that the next wave of LI stuff will try to avoid adding new detachments on top of the recent Liber book and will instead continue with products to fill gaps & 'soft relaunch' the game, like the combat force bundles.
That could include some combination of:
Plastic armigersNew terrainUpdated starter box(es) for LI and/or ATMore plastic titan weapons, likely via starter sets

DaveC posted the prices for the Combat Forces here: https://www.dakkadakka.com/dakkaforum/posts/list/4770/723332.page#11780054
Looks to be $170/£105/€135. A saving of 26% - 27%, pretty standard even if I was hoping for something a bit better.

Not too shabby UK wise.
Only thing I really need more right now is Infantry though, so not worth me buying.
But for someone getting setup in LI? They’re a really solid starting point. Which I guess is the point.

I see there are three new sets of cards for Marines, Auxilia and Mechanicum - what differences are there between these and the previous ones?
Obviously they're newer, but do they supoercede the old ones entirely for people who have the older ones? (as in bin the old ones, you need THESE now to play!)

They reflect the updated rules. So for instance, Contemptor Assault Cannon have the extra shot they gained in the latest book.
So…if you use the cards? I’d upgrade. Also it’s all that army’s cards in a single pack, so handier if you missed a release.

Exactly what I was expecting to be honest, I'm hoping LFGS will have a discount on top of that.
This is the same price the LFGS had the last version of these up at, only they had the full boxes of vehicles in, not the half sets. If they have them discounted and they are around for a long time (not buy now FOMO) then its ok. I always need more marines!
The half sets of Rhinos does kind of irk me. I don't really care for legions, but I do love E40k and you can never have enough Rhinos, and 5 feels a funny number to end up with.
Good to see the mechnicum comes with decals this time, when the older set didn't, even if I've brought everything I will ever need for them at this point!

Yes these supersede the older cards. However I wouldn't rush to bin or replace them.
For many units the changes only really apply to list building. Points costs were tweaked, and sometimes some optional upgrades like a pintle-mount weapon. If you write your lists with Legion Builder or a similar app then you can still use most of the old cards as an in-game rules reference.
Some underperforming units did get more significant changes. Most notable was SA super-heavy tanks & titans gaining an extra wound, while Knights changed their Ion Shield saves. Some tanks (e.g. Leman Russ / Sicaran) were split up into distinct unit entries based on the turret, but mostly the stats didn't change. Very few units have changed so much that you can't just take a biro to the old card and easily update it.
Goonhammer has a decent overview of the unit changes here

Would have hoped for a slightly better deal but not bad and assuming that these are going to be available from FLGS, with their 20% off on top these should be around £84 for a combat force and that means the boxes are roughly 40% cheaper than full price which is quite appealing!
And they do come with transfer sheets, which makes the Mechanicum one an auto-buy for me, glad I didn't pick up a second battlegroup box now!

Main expense in LI remains Getting Enough Infantry.
I’m sure dinky squads have their uses, but if you want to really lean into Infantry? It gets flipping expensive quickly.
Hence the non unpopular wish/demand for further infantry based kits, ideally providing multiples of Support Infantry types.

I swear every other post in this thread is about wanting different infantry boxes. They ain't gonna happen when the current boxes are money makers. Box splitting on eBay is there if you're that desperate.
The astartes and mechanicum boxes are certainly tempting with the discount, but that'll have to wait for while.

The 28mm boxes feel like an exceptional deal though, up to 40% discount after the price hike. That's gotta be rare. But yeah, I was hoping for £95 or something for the LI-boxes.

Getting the infantry you want IS a bit of a problem so I expect people to keep wishing for a new box.

I'm hardly to blame for the fact that a stand of Assault marines costs 20€
The fact is, GW is super stingy with Assault / Devs / Termies when it comes to LI, and that shortcoming should be adressed.

How many boxes of infantry do you really need for this game? More than two and that's going to be a very awkward mob to move around the table...

Two boxes gets you a decent amount of tacticals, but only the bare minimum det size for assaults/ devs/termies. This is the problem IMHO. If you want to lean into devs, assault marines or terminators, you end up with way too many tac stands..

That's a fair point, as I was surprised to see Dreadnoughts and Heavy Sentinels in these kits. I was expecting them to be all infantry.
Not sure if that would be a problem for me, but I'd have liked more assault marines...or even 4 bases of tacticals and 4 bases of despoilers. Heavy weapons are really the forte of mechs and vehicles, and troops are usually either good at shooting or crossing sabers...

This.
I think it’s a bigger issue for me (and others but I dont want to put words in mouths) coming back after 2nd Ed, with only dim memories of the two in between.
Back then? My units were Tactical, Assault and Devastator detachments and Companies, and of course the Battle Company which provided a little of everything but as separate squads.
So the whole “you can have a Legion Tactical squad and upgrade it with some Termies and some Missiles and some Plasma Guns” remains an alien concept I’m just distrustful of.
If I could get over that mental hurdle? The single Infantry Box might work better for me. But until then? I’m a dyed in the wool Specialiser.

Thanks guys - I'm still very much in the "building and buying" phase of setting up into the game and doing so in a way so I can host games (or play against my wife) so I've got two sets of each of the existing card sets - needing to rebuy (all of them) them (twice) for the three forces isn't the ...most appealing thought.
