but it is too early to speculate now for the weaponchoice... i have to work out before how big the turret and the sponsons will be...

True, mine will have that boxy facetted style of days gone by, not rounded as I have no domes to work with at the moment.

also domes is the hardest part to work with not real edges to cut straight from and such things, better as you put it do facetted style any time^^

well casting is sure not happening in these parts anytime soon...as the tech and know how is somehwat too far away atm for me now...

as for second set of tracks i am currently glueing them together... a set of tracks is made up of 52! pieces of shoes^^ goes all the way round, and the cutting was a cramp^^

as for household items^^ yeah i am all for using scrap and recycling stuff for the hobby... here is hoping that later onthe scale is still on the right mneasure with the minis...

and i will go in for designing the hull now too... it is time^^

so ladies and gentlemen, it has been a long time with one thing and ohers to keep me from working on my recent project...

but today i have cobbled a new take together to get the main body of the tank to shape up a bit...
used three layers of pink insulation foam core and cut them to a size i thought might work...the body is now measures 20x10cm... too big?

well here are some pics, decide for yourself...







and last but not least i promissed some days ago a comparrsion shot of some leman russ treads and my own selfmade treads...to see how big that thing will be once it is done...



i think i have to make also some details on the treads too so not to make them too unrealistic looking...

my thoughts exactly for the time being, i experimented with cardboard to construct a structure like your tank but it didn´t work out the way i wanted it to look like...with the foamcore there are other possibilities and later on i plan to add a sheat of paper or card to make the surface more even...

what do you think of the overall body? i am pretty unsure as to the general shape, should i do some indents like

Now that's a nice big, chunky tank coming our way
I really like the basic shape and the size of the tracks.
I've never gotten myself around to use foamcore, as I personally felt it too...flimsy...plus you have to coat it.
But you seem to have a good hang of it and making good process.

I´n regards to the general shape, your design reminds me of the malcator(sp?) and I would probably orient myself along these lines.
What's the planned armament? This may already guide you towards the final layout then... at least that was the way my ZEUS developed - I stareted out the the planned armament (even though as usual I added a lot more stuff *chuckle*)

i can´t stress how complicated it is somehow to have all these different materials being used around the world...somehow i thought that this would be the stuff you used as well... so also herefor a big thank you to help makeing that being put right...(if i sound sarcastic that is absolutly not my intention as i seem to have used the term foamcoare purly because i saw stuff being used that looked like my stock and i thought both were the same, but i also read the name styrodur and other descriptions but i got so many typos that i stuck to the former name^^)
