Thanks mate. Yeah, lot of snow, still off today (and tomorrow), more gaming to follow.
Camkierhi wrote:Those two gents are amazing, you really are pushing the skill level lately. Love the aesthetic. One question, excuse the ignorance, could you make John's tie a bit more colourful, is it meant to be brown, or could it be red, or even black, just to break up the beige.

The lady is looking mighty fine so far, might need some Daz to get those whites clean mind you.

Great to spend the time with the kids, needs to be done, I know you probably did not have much choice, but it is still always worth it. They soon grow up a bit and disappear, even when they are in the same room!

Good to see you getting in some games still too, busy busy boy.

Thanks very much indeed, and you're quite right, hadn't finished John's tie:

So, good catch!
She has washed whiter, fear not (see below)

JDL looks great, the whites look nice and bright now especially when she is in the group photo. Your painting style is so very different Graven and I mean that as the highest compliment it is truly your own. I think of the comics Sin City and how different that was from the others being done at the time, very dark and gritty. Keep up the great work I will be back for more eye candy!

Thanks buddy. Definitely influenced by your grimydark style
Magic villains are sorely lacking just now. Might have to do Enchantress along with my Sirens.

As for the painting contest, I'm entering:
Wonder Woman
Lex (with Kryptonite)
Constantine
Etrigan
... Room for one more.
We'll see what else March brings I think it's important to submit current stuff and after all, it's forced me to up my standard.
Who knows, continuing snowpocalypse might mean even more gets done over the weekend!

Many thanks mate. Really enjoyed these guys.

well there's time I guess. I am tempted to do something with Wonderland, actually, because Mad Hatter can upgrade goons with various Alice themed motifs. Might happen at some point.
And thanks!

Not much done today. A bit of hand priming:

Can't believe I used the last of my km tile bases on these... And this guy:

I've also primed Atrocitus, pic at some point.

And proof that I'm working on sirens:

Ivy will be in her Cycle of Life and Death outfit, black bodysuit with green ivy, green bodice, white shirt. Catwoman is going to get a verdigris statue.

Kids are going pretty crazy, me and number 2 really grating on each other. Went a giant walk with the offspring to the massive hill in one of the local parks. Might as well enjoy being Snowbound.

On to Harleys next...

Just blocking in colours. Left to right: GothamSirens Harley, Arkham Knight Harley (the one that disappeared down my sink overflow, if you remember, which I reference on her base) and Nurse Harley (Malifaux fig) just cos there aren't enough Harleys

Well after all who wouldn't ? I don't normally like block painting, it's why I don't do army games, but I want colour consistency across them. Whites will be next.

CommissarKhaine wrote:Lovely looking models, especially the Harleys . Nice reference on the base, that's the proper kind of humour

Cheers; I'm just glad the Malifaux Nurse fits so well aesthetically, wasn't sure about it at first. And yeah, it's important to be able to take the piss out of yourself, after all.

Lots of digging of paths etc, and a trip to The Greatest Showman (decent).
But, in news that matters:
Laid down the base blue and ochres for my remaining street wars.

These guys should really be my priority. Getting a Demo from the designer Tuesday, really looking forward to it, and picking up the unreleased figs (modelled on The Warriors) at the same time.

Also working on Zurr-en-Arrh, red and yellow nearly there, blocking on purples/ lighting on the cape:

There's so much purple that it needs to be done in layers: I had to do a rough version to figure out where everything was going. Thin layers over this will build up to an even finish.

And, started verdigris layers on the statue

Unlike you, who is knocking it out of the park.

BTW I highly recommend getting some Gesso Acrylic Primer. I promise you will never rattle can again. I am nearly exclusively on it now.

Oh yes.
Bit more on Catwoman:

Nightshade wash worked well for her, I think. Highlights next, and statue a Gauss green wash.

Playing with nightshade led to this, too:

Suit needs some thin asurmen blue but he's coming along nicely I think.

Zurr-en-Arrh is driving me crazy, but still:

Next layer of highlights - pale, pale violet - will make all the difference though, I think.

And happy enough with the street wars stuff for now:

By no means finished, but won't look disgraceful on a tabletop, which is good as I'm playing it tomorrow Vs the designer.

Other flesh has been batch washed, and various little bits not worth pics (Harleys' reds, Ivy's hair, etc).

Hopefully this week will continue to be productive!

More great work Graven, I like the lens effect on cat womans goggles and owlman really caught my eye. Not sure why, but that stark black and white really jumped out at me, a thin wash of blue should make him pop.

Lots of bits finished last night. Pics seem a bit grainy, snapped fairly rapidly this morning, apologies:
Zurr-en-Arrh

Finally happy with the body armour.

And the cape

Catwoman

(front pic isn't great, can't really see the verdigris)

Blue washes on the black really worked.

And Owlman.

Joy to paint. PITA to photograph.

And as for Street Wars NYC
The remaining Devil's Outcasts

and the whole gang

(standard gang size is 8, but there's an unreleased promo in there, the guy on the left-hand end)

And Black Cobras

and chums

PLUS
Siren WIPs
AK Harley's colours now pretty much all blocked in.

Bat needs a tidy up, but on to hair and then starting to build up colours next.

Slightly further on with Ivy and the other Harley, but nothing worth a pic yet.

And even further on with Nurse Harley:

Nearly time to break out the Joker juice for that syringe!

So continuing with Sirens next. Other stuff is ongoing also - more on skin tones, for example, across TWD models.
I've decided to fall on my sword and not play Street Wars NYC tonight (despite being all set for it) because had a massive fight with Mrs G that was largely my fault. Game rescheduled for next week. Sometimes, you gotta do what you gotta do

Cheers. Appreciated.
Things are a bit brighter, although had bugger all sleep because tiny person is a menace. Sending the boss off for a night out with her sister to give her a bit of breathing room tonight.

Meanwhile, got the Harleys finished

Fun but nightmares were had. Had to scrape back all the paint on the face. Let's say it wasn't unsalvageable and move on.

I am liking the new red I'm using for this, which is VJ model air scarlet.

She's a good stand-in for Arkham City Harley, which I'm not crazy about the model for anyway.

By contrast, didn't enjoy this one:

I dunno, I think I'm going to need to revisit this after a bit of distance

Maybe just tidy up. Hmm. Bit Harley'd out. I think it's probably batch paint fatigue.

On that subject, AK Harley:

Much happier with this.

Group shot

And made progress on Rebirth Ivy:

I do love the cycle of life and death colour scheme for this model. It also really amuses me using bits from a kinder egg poison ivy on the base

Working on John Stewart, definitely going to switch to NOT painting colours in batches next

Lol. Yeah, maybe. I'm having a bit of a drive towards getting stuff done, aren't I?!

Speaking of which, finished off Ivy:

Need to do her plants, one of them has very demogorgon (stranger things) maw and the other is pure Audrey 2, debating where to go with the paint jobs/colour schemes.

And also got my John Stewart conversion painted up:

I think, crucially, you can't tell it's a collection of parts. Tournament legal, too clear representation of Green Lantern, all KM parts.
