Its a knights templar, white cloth, red cross. I was experimenting a little with a dirtying effect, with bleached bone for the cloth, and the color for the dirt/sand thinned down and applied to the skirting.

I liked this model overall, though I'm not sure about that rather extreme highlight on the cloak. You guys decide.

I feel as if you shoud put the weathering on the cloak if you're going to
put it on the skirt. The cloak will extend further down when the minis walking
and should presumably gather dirt quicker.

I'm not sure how you highlighted the cloak but there are a few options. A wash
or glaze will bring the sharp colors closer together. I'm personally fine with sharp
highlights, but since his shirt looks subtle, I think you should go with subtle on the
cloak, too.

In both instances, I think it's about consistency. If you handle one part in a certain
style, then you should handle the rest of the mini the same way. It's like painting
your army the same color. The unifying effect of single colors/styles pleases the
eye.

Exactly what I was thinking. I'll have to use a darker gray (between those two) to "step it down" and keep the dark gray in the inside folds. And good idea on the cloak dirtness, don't know why I ignored that.

the grey areas are too thivk is what i think...
but adding a slight slit of darker grey in the very recessess should make it better too.

I muted it and experimented with adding mud to the cloak, will post pics eventually.

I like the model and agree with the comments above. I'd like to suggest doing something with the base. I know we don't have much to work with when it comes to Reaper bases, but from the pics it looks like you can still see primer. I'd give it a good base coat and then a few highlights to give is some depth.

I was trying to see if that would be like a shadow of the mini, the noon sun beaming down on him.

That and I missed it at first and was too lazy to go back :-p
