So, all my painting will now be in one thread forever, so I don't clutter up the board and people who don't care won't have to look.  My multi-color Hive Fleet is underway!  After reading many tactica articles, it seems my Tyrant *must* have wings (since I want a close combat oriented army).  So I had to go and add wings.  I also decided, with my wacky painting ideas, that snow bases would work well to provide lots of contrast, so here's my WIP tyrant, I'm still toying with the idea of magnetized arms, that's why they aren't there yet.  I know he needs lots of touch-ups, but, remember, WIP!

They look to be forgeworld wings to me.

But I could be wrong. Great wings though, its always a challange to find decent wings, the Fantasy Dragon ones are awful.

I'd bet they're mcfarlane dragon wings.

Do not use the CLEAR dice!

Dear Whiny Space Marine Players,
you get 3+ armor saves on all your troops (save scouts), Assault cannons, a huge assortment of vehicles and weapons, arguably one of the best if not THE best tank in the game, funny helmets, and a partrige in a pear tree.

suck it up, space marines. You're the emperor's chosen superhuman warriors. stop whining like a guardsmen and take it like a superman!

'snow'-themed bases would indeed give a nice contrast to your colour scheme. Perhaps include some Lictors bursting out of a snowdrift?

I hope those wings are really well pinned into place - I'd be terrified to let such a figure near a gaming table in case it toppled over

Fleet Terror alright....Great work, the contrast of yellow/black and white should be striking, especially for a CC army (imagine a run-down lab in a snow field, build partially into a mountain and weathered down IGs stuck waiting for aerial evac. Then a mass of yellow death rips through out the complex )
I would really like to see how you tackle the snowed in lictor btw if you make it.(PS->make a snowman with evil face and the two large spine claws coming outs of its back)

"Dont eat the yellow snow!" Would be the famous last words of the IG in that lab, Clayman.

It is beautifully done. I too would love to know where you got those wings.

Looks very (x2) nice... as a fellow melee tyranid, i bow to this menacing looking Hive Tyrant. Yeah, and i don't know if someone already asked that: where are the wings from?

They're from an old mage knight dragon, i have a pair myself for a winged tyrant i never finished

Edit: i found a foto of the dragon at http://www.wizkidsgames.com/mageknight/figuregallery.asp?unitid=990, it seems that you can find 4 diferent dragons, all with the same wings wich come separated from the body for easy packaging (how considerate )

I believe I've commented on this Tyrant before, sans wings.

Those look fantastic, the 'finger' structure of the wings reminds me of facehugger (Giger) digits. I also like that they look more proportionate to its body than on other winged Hive Tyrants I've seen.

Snow is cool, nuf said. My Tau? have snow bases and a stealthy scheme?

Only gripe: The hive growth on the base, I would paint it to resemble the rest of the tyranid organisms. Also still not settled on the red veins and tongue.

Keep us posted, I will be watching this fleet.

So, next "boss" up was a biovore, which for an unknown reason I decided on Green and Black as the "danger" colors. I really am going to do every group type different colors and see if I can somehow make it all look like a cohesive fleet. He needs LOTS of touch-ups (and eyeballs), but I'm holding off because I might try to make him firing a spore mine, and I'm afraid I'll have to retouch him after whatever happens with that attempt...

So, from Hive Fleet Terror, sample Biovore:

I like the yellow eyes on the Biovore, they should stay. It's also nice to know that the Biovore can be made to look good.

So, Hive Fleet Terro progresses, forgive these crap pics, by the time I realized they were not good, I had put everything away. Not sure if you can tell, but the *orange* on the Stealer is 2 shades lighter than on the Brood Lord, to make the Brood Lord jump out a but once the unit is done. And yes, I already got all the "Halloween" comments when I posted just the Brood Lord earlier, so tho it's hard, please try not to tease me about it...

Surprisingly the "Lobo in tights" colour sheme works quite well on the stealer. I like it.
