Ollanius Pius - Savior of the Emperor

Gathering the Informations.

Prey--Beautiful graphics. Beautiful gameplay. Spirit walking is fun, and adds an entirely different element to the game. Multiplayer is mehh. The weapons are completely unique, as there's only one actual, terrestrial weapon that'd be familiar to us humans(The wrench ).

Chromehounds-- What can I say about Chromehounds other than: HURRAH! Building a mech from parts you get care of campaigns. 49 achievements for the game, but rather than each level getting an achievement you actually have to work for it and complete an entire story arc for each role type. The only problem is that today it seems that alot of the hardcore gamers picked two factions and cooperated together to take out the third faction in multiplayer. The upside is, that now the Democratic Republic now gets to fight a guerilla war using three story tall walking death machines. Titan legion fun?
The other complaint I have is that there are very limited selections of decals to work from. Maybe they'll allow custom imports or something.

I love both of these games quite a bit. I highly suggest them.

Thanks for the info! Gamefly just confirmed that they're shipping Chromehounds out to me today, so I'll be fiddling with giant mechs soon. Prey's next on the list, but I think LotR and Chromehounds will keep me busy for a bit.

The only thing about Chromehounds is the fact that you can't immediately get EVERY part to build your own mechs. I forgot to mention that, as I'd forgotten that straight off you only have a small selection of parts and not complete sets. Halfway through your first story arc, you'll be set though.

i have to say about the game is, whilst it looks very prety and all and the demo was alright the mechs all seem to move a bit slow, dosn't this detract from the gameplay?

Well they're gigantic warmachines. Of course they're moving slow There's assist parts you can get via the shop or the campaign that increase acceleration though. There's also a rotor that when applied to hover chassis allows you to make 'em fly

I've not tried the rotor, but that's the description the part gives. Maybe I'll fire it up later, but World of Warcraft has been smacking me very hard lately. And I picked up V for Vendetta on dvd...so I'll be kinda busy for awhile today heh.

"The weapons are completely unique"

No, the weapons all fall into FPS archetypes and simply have flesh animations - they are in no way original nor unique. Only the gun that has different types of ammo is unique.

Your opinon is welcome, but rather than just picking one tiny spot how about actually contributing? If you've played the game, then I'd be more than welcome to hear what you have to say or to pick apart what I've posted. But rather than pointing out what every review site out there posts try to speak for yourself. Thanks.

no gun is truely unique, they all, every one in any game ever, work in a few ways (with a few exceptions, portal guns and the slowly increasingnumber of grav guns) so all that can be done is hwo they look, and -prey makes them look interesting, insteadof just another machine gun, launcher, flamer, etc etc
