Zombies are now going to drop random Iron items, including ingots, every once in a blue moon. But it means that Zombie spawners will have infinite iron.

Skeletons are doing the same with Bows, and Pigmen are now going to occasionally drop Gold Ingots, swords and helms as well.

It's a Snapshot thing.

That's cool as I've converted a zombie dungeon in my mine to a exp grinder.

Iron bars are incredibly cheep - 6 iron nets 16 iron bars.

Not as inexpensive as glass panes, but iron's pretty abundant.

Villagers will repopulate villages based on how many houses there are available
Some nights in villages will be worse than others…
Added a redstone-controlled light source

Means I'll be working a lot on the two villages (they're next to each other and will become one larger city later on, but far out enough to be in no one's way) I claimed* for development when this patch hits.
I'll just leave them to sit until then.

*I know they're unclaimable and public, this is still intended to be after it's fixed up.

you might need to build walls for them so they won't die.

Zombies can drop iron stuff.

"Zombies have a rare chance to drop a Iron Ingot, Iron Helmet, Iron Shovel, or an Iron Sword."

They'll just spawn new ones later. There's a few reasons I called it The City of Ghost.

Actually at the moment their doors are what's keeping them in, maybe when I go to build the portal house I'll drop stuff in front of the doors to prevent them running off later.

be funny if villagers accidentally walked through the portal and teleported to the nether. "Theres no place like, theres no place like home."

So are mooshrooms actually able to spawn outside of the biome if you put down mycelium? Having a mooshroom room was sort of the whole point I was after the stuff.

Yeah, I think so... from the wiki:

Mooshrooms can spawn on Mycelium at a light level of 7+.
Mooshrooms are the only mob that can spawn on Mycelium
Mycelium prevents other mobs such as Zombies and Creepers from spawning in any light level both above and below in caverns

We should be able to till myceliujm to create Shroomwheat or something!

Why has someone broken random panes of glass and my bed?

I had many fond memories in that bed..

When was the last time you were on? A couple of people have been banned in the last two weeks or so for thefts and general destruction.

I might still have a look into it. I'm getting sick of whoever's just going around breaking bits and pieces here and there.

Especially glass panes!

God that's so fething annoying.

Actually, Dark, if you'll give me a few stacks of glass panes later today (about to head to class again) I'll go fix the nether tunnels....

I hate seeing empty spaces. I used a stack last night to fill some in, when I should have been carryign that stack to the end.

Not aimed at you personally Dwhitey, but if nobody reports when they've been wronged, how on earth am I supposed to catch ne'er-do-wells?

It's all very well making posts like this:
http://www.dakkadakka.com/dakkaforum/posts/list/8520/337126.page#3908238
But unless I can have some clues to which house is supposedly the victim, and dates/times of before/after griefings*, I'm afraid my crystal ball doesn't work that well.

* If something bad happens give me dates/times of when everything was last as you expected AND when you first spotted it broken/stolen etc.

Understood, but in my case there isn't a point looking into it. There have been weeks, maybe months since I logged in and noticed it.

/insert noise here

If someone wants to take the trouble of replacing all the glass in the nether with iron bars, I would be happy to donate the iron.

A stack of iron blocks yields something like 20 stacks of bars.

The additional plus side to using iron bars, as already mentioned, is that when broken, they produce an item.

While, given enough information, I can trace who is breaking glass in the nether, if they are breaking iron bars (producing drop items) this will be even easier to trace.

The stuff in the nether could be ghasts. If a player is running along the top or nearby the tunnel, for example.
