Sorry, my internet took a dump, and we were out for almost 3 days. I know, imagine that, no internet for 3 days. I got a lot of building done though! I'll post of some pictures here in a while.

I'm actually national guard, based out of Arizona. I'm in the 1/158th Infantry(thus the name), which is part of the 29th Infantry Brigade out of Hawaii.

Besides my BT and my UM(and various Blood Angel stuff because I like their models, but don't have an organized army), I also have a rather large(used to have larger) collection of Imperial Guard.

I have about 200+ infantry, probably 10 cadian snipers, 13 meltagunners, 27 weapons teams, 2 baneblades, 3 leman russ tanks(used to have 6, along with 3 basilisks), 1 vendetta, 2 valks, currently 1 chimera(used to have 10 or so, including one kitbashed to look like an M2A2 Bradley), and a couple other various models. TBH most of it resides unpainted because Cadians in large numbers are a PITA to complete. I lost interest in playing them because it seemed I needed fliers, vets, and lots of meltaguns to win the game. That totally isn't my playstyle. I always did pretty well, but rarely pulled off a victory.

Next army project is Tau. I've been a longtime fan, and it was my first army. They lacked what was needed to be somewhat successful, though I won a few games. I am trying to stick with themed armies that I can only find layouts for, like the 2nd Company UM, a Tau Hunter Cadre, and I plan to revamp the IG army I have using some of the layouts from the Apoc book regarding cadian infantry regiments. Soooo much to do when I get home.

BTW the models look fantastic man!

E here!
Currently converting one of my broken down Valkyries into a vulture gunship! For the blade housing I used a heavy weapons teams base. The intake blades are made of cardboard I'm going to varnish them before I paint them to reinforce their strength. I cut the whole Valkyrie troop compartment in half and transformed it into a thinner fuselage .The extension of the engine house is a plastic cup(the clear part). I glued some bits to my home made engine housing and it looks pretty good. I crammed the gaps with green stuff and smoothed it out. I also molded green stuff in certain areas to try to replicate the picture I was looking at.. I am currently molding an entire tail section out green stuff I'll post pics as I go..that's it for now ..

I updated my post from my P&M blog, but I'll post em here to:

E, I've got a little over 2 months left, and the last 2 or 3 weeks of that is logistical moving, so I'm out of time virtually.

I have further plans after I finish this project as far as my space marines go. I bought all the finecast stuff I needed, along with a case to get this stuff home. The finecast will meet me at home. I am planning on Calgar and crew transported by landraider, with a squad or two of terminators to drop in via deepstrike. some elements of the scout company, and tons of other little stuff from codex chapters to accompany 2nd Co into battle when its needed (I love Apoc).

Fantastic looking conversion, BTW. I don't have the cajones to try stuff like that with my models.

If you ever find yourself in AZ I think our armies must meet in battle, on the table top. I'm sure my hordes of guardsman can add to your already potent force...and you better sack up and march across the table straight leg style .

Firehead,
I just went through the moving process from overseas in feb. I just got back! I only unpacked my models about a week and a half ago.. I lucked out the worst thing that happened was a broken tail fin on a Valkyrie. At the end of my second deployment in Iraq I had valks in a tacbox wrapped in t shirts lol.. But hey it worked. Point being your models should be fine..

It's funny all deployed 40k players are the same.. When it's time to pack up and go home we orders more stuff and send it home so we have even more when we get there.. Almost my whole circle did that .. That's dedication and devotion to the cause.. As far as Arizona goes I do have a few friends that live there and us playing a game may not be completely out of the question.. But If you ever come through Georgia you are invited to one of our weekend battles..

I play most air cavalry/Special forces style tactics . I refuse to play IG conventionally. So marching across the board is outta the question . I ride into battle . And I have built an focused my army on fighting and defeating space marines. So should we meet on the table top I will bring the heat and may the best man win..

I pray for you're safe return home brother and am anxious to see what you can do with a proper supply of game store materials to build with..

Make this your primary thread man, when my guys get off block leave they'll be posting.. Let's make this the best thread for the gaming community and keep the 40k universe up and running..

I'm almost done with my vulture and ill post some pics in the progress later.. Until then gamers post away and may the emperor be with you..

I got some of the 3rd ID bubbas here with me,attached to us as secfor.. I have 3 of them playing Pathfinder with me, and one of them is interested in getting into 40K if he moves to AZ like he and his wife have been discussing.

Last time I went through Georgia was at Sandhill for OSUT, haven't been there since(also, Atlanta scared the beejezuz out of me. I walked past two guys calmly talking about shooting each other, wtf?!) But I'll certainly take you up on that offer if I find myself there.

I had to refrain from ordering more models. I didn't want there to be a ton of unbuilt stuff hanging around my place. I still plan on getting drop pods, and rhinos for all the squads that can take them. Seems a little excessive, but I'm all about "go big, or go home". I too prefer the airdrop method of IG infantry, though I also like mech. I was planning on doing an Elsyian Vet drop army, but I decided to hold off until I get some other major projects squared away, and secure a new civilian job. I'd eventually like to have at minimum, a platoon/battery/squadron of everything for IG...but I'll take it slow. I love modeling sooo freakin' much, even though I have almost no use for all of it at any one given time.

As far as continuing a Space Marine army, once I have elements of 1st company and 10th company completed, along with the full 2nd, I would like to do a Thunderhawk. I pray that by the time I get around to actually doing it, GW will just release a plastic kit .

After I finished making custom tail sections I sprayed my primer gray, and started to apply my colors..Because its a vulture i wanted it to have a different color then my valks..

I still have alot to do to it. But I`m very happy with the way it turned out.. I have modified a lot of stuff. But this particular valkyrie..was stored while I was deployed And was missing some pieces, tail fins, crew compartment doors ans so on..But with a lil imagination you can salvage a model.. So I sacrificed a valkyrie and gained a vulture..saved myself a few bucks...

E here ! This is my next mod project! the Hydra turret...

I decided to put this turret on a tank hull it just looked better. I was digging through my boxes and found my old manticore mod turret. I ripped the missile off and dug through my bit box and found some missile pod housings i believe are from a space marine speeder .. with a lil grinding and fitting i managed to get the auto cannon to fit in the housing. Then I attached the second auto cannon externally a lil lower. To get details on how i made this turret you can go to earlier pages of this forum..pretty easy to make..

I also made it to fit the turret slot on the chassis.Using green stuff to fit in and lock the turret on..I still have alot of painting to do to it. Hell i have alot of painting to do period..but being on block leave has allowed me time to get alot of work done.

After having 8 flyers, I realized, ai might want my own anti-air weapon.. but from my experience in sixth edition, Flyers themselves are the best anti-air weapon in the game...

Well that`s it for tonight, I hope you like the mod and the pictures..Any questions gimme a holler..L8ER!

BATTLE GROUP 13 COMMAND POST ON EYDOLIM .. 1900hrs march 30, 996003.M41

Please, Take your seats, I`d like to welcome our honored guest, Castellian Urserker Creed, His cabinet and our Cadian brothers. Colonel Commissar Gaunt and the Tanith first and only. As we all know as of next week The Cadian 303rd Armoured, and 102nd infantry divisions will assume responsibility of the Dalvalla sector. My unit, Battle group 13 Spec. Ops, Was sent to this region 3 months ago as a QRF or quick reaction force in the first weeks of the chaos invasion..The heretic slaughtered half the poulation in the city of Davalla, 200,000 in a little over a week. The DDF ( Davalla Defense Force) was 40% casulties in the initial invasion, and was left with roughly 30% strength by the time we arrived. The vostroyan to the north were successful in securing the Tamial sector. But west in the capitol city of Eydol Cadian shock troops, have been having a very difficult time holding back the chaos advance..

Eydollim Is a shrine world a place of religion and virtue, chaos would gladly hope to piss on our faith and devour this sacred ground until nothing remains. Castellian Creed ordered the mandatory evacuation 2 weeks ago. The evacuation was a success, and also eliminated the possibility of collateral damage. Since the evacuation, we have been successful in steadily deteriorating the enemy force with call for fire missions, air strike and orbital bombardments. The streets of Dalvalla are fairly quite, as skirmishes are less frequent. sometimes days without an incedent.

As with every transfer of authority, we go out with the unit learn the terrain, the enemy and the abilities of our men, their needs, there morale... I do not boost my own ego, because ego is as useless as a lasgun with no magazines.. but I lead my men from the front..even as a colonel. Every engagement, every day. ( Commissar Gaunt nods in approval) So what I tell you about this sector, is not hog wash.. i assure you it is very true.

Chaos is subdued for now.. our hit and run tactics have left them weak..but a new enemy has emerged... Orks and Eldar..why we do not know. We have reason to believe there may be an ancient technology that the xenos, and the great enemy are looking for..The details are calssified, that is all I can tell you for now. We actually had a run in with orks today.

I had my camera man with today, for those of you that were not there with us.. Please direct your attention to the big screen...

We started off on a short range patrol, just outside these very headquarters..

Today we had a great success! The eldar Autarch adriennash, was slain! Adriennash Has been a pain in the ass for the last two weeks.. failed assualts on clover, and harrassing our aircraft.. He successfully shot one down..our pilots were retrieved, and our vulture has since been replaced.. What your are about to see Has been declassified by the Imperial Commissariat as a morale booster to incoming troops. Adriennash is only about a battalion strong in men..No real dangerous threat. We believe he is the the recon element for a larger eldar force should they find what they are looking for.

At 1630 hours today Stormtroopers air assaulted in a killed most of Adriennash`s personal guard.. they surrounded the building..
