For me:

Pyramid Head from SH2 ( he chases me and is hard to kill + i get lost easily so i panic and run into dead ends )

Alma from FEAR ( never played, but watching it on youtube was scary )

Aliens from Alien vs Predator 2 shooting game ( While playing USCM, i stare at the motion tracker,
and sometimes it feels like the radar is sensing it wrong... the aliens move so fast , that one moment
you think its just the turbine turning and because the corridor infront of you is clear...
then the next thing you realize is it craw through the air vent and is actually hanging on the ceiling right above)

Forever alone

I've been playing Left 4 Dead a lot at the internet cafe and some bits make me jump or even yelp.

When the Infected pop out from behind a car or tree and run at you flailing their arms.

When Hunters scream from an unknown location, you think 'Ahh, crap' and they jump on you.

When you accidentally provoke a Witch and she runs screaming at you.

People are like dice, a certain Frenchman said that. You throw yourself in the direction of your own choosing. People are free because they can do that. Everyone's circumstances are different, but no matter how small the choice, at the very least, you can throw yourself. It's not chance or fate. It's the choice you made.

Actually scariest enemy........ I would have to say Nicole, from Dead Space. You spend your entire time in the game looking throughout the ship for her, you end up thinking she's dead, and so you destroy the hive mind. Then you get on the shuttle, escape and think it's all over. You start to watch that message she sent you, but turn it off. You hear something and lok to your right and...............

HOLY BALLS IN A CHRIST WAGON!!!! A Nicole look a like attacks you.

I see you have yet to make it Old Oley.

I really hate deathclaws. I carry a fat man solely for killing DCs. Im too afraid I will run out (and due to spawning I will, but oh well.) to use them on anything else.

I must say Call of Duty 5 when you are killing anyone. Its freaky, because most of the fights depicted actually happened in a way, it was quite disturbing. Good game though

Also, the fast zombies in HL2 are creepy as hell.

I seem to remember facing four deathclaws in old olmy (or whatever it's called), all in broad daylight. A few hundred rounds of 5mm ammo sufficed.

The deathclaw sanctuary is a nearly pitch-black cave system with a grand total of seven deathclaws. Good loot (bobblehead, mini-nuke, named gatling laser), but I recommend bringing an ally.

That game was great. Creepy but great. I still remember the freaky crap they were doing to that poor kid all to please Stoft, the evil toy maker.

Miguelsan wrote:Try playing fatal frame. In those other games you have weapons. In fatal frame you have ghosts jumping out of the walls to kill you and your only defense is to run or use a fricking magic camera!!!!!!!!

After playing the 1 time in almost complete darkness I only could continue the game in daylight and with my brothers watching me play. The little girls coming out of the floor while I was watching an ingame movie were too much for me I ditched the game at that point.

Funny enough when I first started reading this thread, fatal frame (2...directors cut) was in the fore front of my mind for scary games. Funny enough, the only reason I played the game was that my friend Jean bought it and after playing it once, decided it was too scary for her to play, so she had me play it so she could see it. But man did it have some crazy parts. The one where the lady does a header off the stairs and looks you in the eye on her way down before hitting the ground (breaking her neck and arms in the process) only to get up (sort of) can crawl around on her back (with broken arms and her head lolling around on her broken neck) was really freaky. So was the cut scene near the beginning where the little Asian girl was laughing manically in the room filled with corpses and then she morphed into some crazy old looking ghost that you couldn't kill / fight / take pictures of. That and it got kind of freaky when your sister started to go evil on you (and register as a ghost in your camera). All in all that game did a great job of setting the atmosphere. They also did a great job with the unnatural way the ghosts moved around (often with broken limbs and/or necks).

Game tip. Best weapon for hunting deathclaws is the dart gun. One shot (on anything) cripples both legs. After they start moving at a crawl, they are significantly less scary and can easily be picked off with whatever weapon you have handy.

Dead Space was damn freaky all right, but I found that by the about chapter 6 or 7 I was just looking for necromorphs to vent frustration on, everything you fix on that damn ship pretty much becomes irrelevant 5 minutes after you do it (plus that boot stomp is SO satisfying). I didn't find FEAR to be that scary, it was actually woefully predictable. Oh look, enemy troopers: fight. Huh no enemy soldiers around?: creepy girl. I would have to say the most frightening video game moment for me by far was playing HL2 Ravenholm the first time through, with headphones on, in the middle of the night. <shiver>

I also recall Parasite Eve for the PS1 being quite creepy when played in the dar,

And so, due to rising costs of maintaining the Golden Throne, the Emperor's finest accountants spoke to the Demigurg. A deal was forged in blood and extensive paperwork for a sub-prime mortgage with a 5/1 ARM on the Imperial Palace. And lo, in the following years the housing market did tumble and the rate skyrocketed leaving the Emperor's coffers bare. A dark time has begun for the Imperium, the tithes can not keep up with the balloon payments and the Imperial Palace and its contents, including the Golden Throne, have fallen into foreclosure. With an impending auction on the horizon mankind holds its breath as it waits to see who will gain possession of the corpse-god and thus, the fate of humanity......
