Finally got back to the exoscouts... I've been doing a lot of little work on them, filling in gaps, finishing off the hydraulics, that sort of thing.

Also added the stormbolters, and touched up the Sergeant's head...

There's a bit of minor touching up still to go in a couple of places, most obviously a couple of divots that need cleaning up on a couple of the Stormbolter magazines.

And, of course, they need their rollcages:

To get these all more or less the same, I built myself a rough and ready jig from a piece of hardwood:

Genius stuff there insaniak. I`m kinda surprised that you replicated them so quickly. I thought you only had one suit atm. They look great in the bunch though, and I like them alot more now that they are close to completion. Still not a fan of the crotch-belt but thats just my personal opinion.

So that's how they load Vindicators.... I am really impressed by those exosuits, they've grown on me. I especially like what you've done behind the head.

Ran into some problems with the rollcages... I fluked the first one, but drilling 1mm holes into 1.5mm rod to attach the crossbeams is a little tricky, and so getting multiple cages assembled without breaking the vertical beams or getting everything misalligned turned out to be practically impossible.

I was also a little concerned that the original rollcage was a little too bulky for the model, but hadn't seen any way of making it smaller without being too flimsy... it was flimsy enough as is.

Then had a bit of a flash: use mesh.

So, I grabbed a bit of 10mm mesh and trimmed it down to an appropriate shape, and wound up with this:

Obviously that's a little rough... still needs brackets holding it onto the top of the torso piece, and the 'beltbuckle' crossbeam to hold the bottom of it... and the finished version would be a little straighter.

The mesh seems to give a decent option in terms of buildability, although in comparison to the rest of the suit, it looks a little lightweight - is thicker mesh a possibility?

Having seen the side-on view, I think the rollcage is a little square - if you'll excuse my dodgy paint edit, a little angle from the top to the waist would improve the look:

Whats the commision actually for? Also, what are the rules for the models? They're friggin sweet btw =D

It might be, if I can track some down.

Otherwise, I can possibly just thicken up the verticals, which would help it look a little bulkier.

I like that. I'll have a fiddle and see how it works out.

There are two separate commissions going in this thread... the squad of Exo-Scouts and the Pre-Heresy Dreadnought.

And a gaggle of assorted miniatures that I'm working on for other reasons...

Also, what are the rules for the models?

They just count as Terminators, for an all-scout army.

Small update on the Ethereal, just using up some excess putty:

Not entirely happy with how the robes are coming out. May be time to trim them down and start again.

Started bulking out the Dreadnought's lower legs:

Gap-filled the shoulder pads and added a gubbin on the back to attach to the shoulders:

Re-pinned the arms in the new, up-higher position:

Should be ready to dry-fit the upper legs and shoulder pads next update

And filled the torso sides where the plasticard was added, and added some extra length to the belly ring, as it was too narrow (still needs sanding down):

Very cool, as usual. Is there any way you could make your pictures a little bigger though? Anyway, nice work on the suit dudes, and I like that ork better than GW ones.

I want to see the suit dudes (I forget what you said they are) fight Necros's alienids.

The angled rollcage looks perfect. Looked clunky square, but works very well now.

This bit's always fun: Dreadnought's all tacked together, to see how he looks standing up...

The shins are too short. I'm looking at removing the feet, and reattaching them slightly lower down. I'll also probably extend the top edge of the shin armour slightly before adding the kneepads on.

Another painting WIP from this month's craft day...

Converted this guy up as a birthday present for my fiance, and gave it to her unpainted so she could decide whether she wanted to paint him herself or get me to do it. After a bit of deliberation (about 6 months or so ) she decided to let me do it...

Still a bit of work to go, obviously...

Excellent work. It's really enjoyable to see such a nice collection of varied WIPs. I like the Old Skool Dread the most, has a real sense of weight in his movement.

I swear, I've been in love with your work ever since Yakface's Flyrant.

I get the feeling that the Dread's boots need to be beefed up somehow...hydraulic tubes on the sides of the final product, perhaps?
