LOTR got me into this aswell and WOTR I find pointless because its basicly the a mix between Fantasy and LOTR except similar rules to LOTR, in the last year, I've had 1 game of LOTR at the workshop and that was a tutorial just because i was bored ALOT!

If you mentioned this to the staff at the GW (No one likes LOTR) , what would they say?

I personally believe that WOTR is a silly Games Workshop scheme to get more money, it is just LOTR and fantasy mixed together, but with a bad combination of rules.

For example, the way that hero's work in WOTR is very strange and controversial.

I agree, if they want more money, they should enchant the models more!

I dont like it because it feels limited. I already know how the story ends. In whfb, 40k, ex illis, etc, the story hasn't finished yet, so I feel like I'm writting it.

Models are nice, but thats not enough for me.

Thats the whole problem with LOTR SBG and WOTR the story is over and the Tolkien ip wont let gw do much with it; but what gw has done has expanded the story somewhat: the nazgul have names now and i for one, would like to read about their fall to sauron. the world is there but as Tolkien is gone the ip wont allow anyone to write a novel for it, and anything gw writes would basically amount to fan fiction (although i would love to see what Abbnett and Mcneill could come up with )

I have yet to play LOTR, I mean the uruk hai look cool in all, (Lurtz, Gothmog I'm talking about you) but I like how more expanable 40k is. There isn't really ever a 40k match that is the same. LOTR, in my opinion, is like playing scenes from the movie, not going outside the boundaries.

I don't know. That's my 2 cents.

Tolkien's books provide a great backdrop and start for battles in LOTR SBG, IMO.

Well I'm more of a LOTR player than 40k. I have my 40k battles & I agree it's good fun. I do hear a fair amount of people saying that the game is kind of 'boxed in' because the books are finished & there's nothing more. Including all the legal issues with GW etc etc.. I've started getting to the boundary of where you can't do that much more, so I've started expanding out of the films to Angmar & the lost Realms. The Dwarfs also have many places that aren't detailed as such, which could provide a few good battles. My favourite still has to be having a battle in Osgiliath. Also with the Hobbit coming out in 2011 that might open up some things, yet there aren't many battles in that book apart from 'The battle of the 5 armies'.

I've got a Ringwraith btw

ouch! Someone is keen on their Ringwraiths. Are we talking Ringwraiths on the Nazgul or foot/mounted? I actualy have I think 4 foot/mounted & just the 1 on the beast.

I must admit, I like the direction that GW is taking with WOTR. Warhammerification is good for the stale franchise with amazing models.

I own a small force of gondorians and really want some knights of Dol Amroth just because they look fly.

We're watching you... scum.

Well, if it hasn't been posted elsewhere, the Hobbit movies are finally good to go for filming. Hopefully this will allow GW to renew their license to get new models, perhaps new trolls and definitely a Smaug model!

I hope they get a Smaug model, and this might encourage GW to bring more LOTR so people can play it!
