Yellow journalism implies that you are making up or misreporting the facts, not that you don't know them yourself.

in light of what i know (done a computer games development course at college) and read(yes i read all 4 pages go me XD) the 88 seems a bit much but hey if the judge made it tht figure then not much you can do about it.

being a Wow player myself i have never been under the influence of being made to play the game. All addictions affect the mind (drugs through chemicals, Wow is more thought wise) th basic point is that if you allow urself to get addicted to somethin you need a strong mind to pull urself away from the addiction. I myself could have been described as having a gaming addiction but i had enough sence to stop.

Even now im passing up the occasion to do some RL stuff, is it to play Wow?? no its not, its due to lack of cash or its somethin im not interested in. I use Wow as somethin to do because its fun and helps pass time on long boring days/nights.

When the rich rage war it's the poor who die

Armies I have: Chaos Space Marines, Tau, Necrons, High Elves

Armies I want:Lizardmen, Warriors Of Chaos, Dark Eldar

Armies I may get: Dark Angels, Tomb Kings, Vampire Counts

When it comes to addictions and WOW, it seems like a real issue much like gambling (MMO's are basically gambling in some ways as well, random loot drops, random number generating in general). Your brain releases chemicals through stimulation and we're creatures of habit, play enough of WOW, lotto machines, etc. and you can find yourself craving to the point of having to go to rehab . Plenty of cases where video games have taken over peoples lives, even in the old school Everquest era people were committing suicide over what happened in-game FWIW, then again those people probably had a lot of other gakky things going on in addition to their video game addiction.

The argument wasn't so much about whether videogame addictions exist (it's physically possible to be addicted to any sort of experience), it's just whether or not such addictions are comparable to drug or medicine addictions where an externa factor is directly effecting the uptake of addiction chemically within the brain. Experiential addictions certainly exist, it's part of how humans develop behaviors in general. One can be addicted to WoW just as one can be addicted to cleaning or baseball, the biggest difference being the social stigma attached to one addiction as opposed to others.
