Holy crap love your conversions. Your army theme is really cool as well. But I think the coolest thing I saw so far. Which I didnt catch at first was the poster girl ork on the side of your fighta. That detail alone make that on Favorite one I've seen painted so far. Pure awesome.

I'm Warlord Ghazghkull Mag Uruk Thraka an' I speak wiv da word of da gods. We iz gonna stomp da 'ooniverse flat an' kill anyfing that fights back. We iz gonna do this coz' we're Orks an' we was made to fight an' win"

I wanted to show you the Ghazghkull model I painted. The big G is without a doubt one of the most powerful special characters in the game, and should hold a special place in the heart of any proper green blooded Ork player out there.

But first, I finished Painting Enjun Seeya Cog'gobb, and his oiler, Fuggit.

And finally, The man,or ork himself, Big G. Oh and who could forget his NUMBA ONE BANNA WAVER

I painted him when I was about 14, haha. I'm going to strip him and repaint him to my current standards. Its kind of amazing how far I've come in my painting after all these years, and really how far I have to go still.

So I've finally decided to update.

I've been busy, I've got a unit of 12 Kommandoz + Snikrot painted. JUST IN TIME FOR SNIKROT TO BE NERFED

However, just as snikrot becomes useless, my Meganobz become CC gods. So, they get painted!

So, we have a new edition.

I've played a few games, and fearless boyz squads are REALLY good. Shoota boyz are REALLY good.

Saddly, that makes Trukk boyz REALLY bad by comparison.

THEY MAY TAKE OUR HULL POINTS, BUT THEY WILL NEVER TAKE OUR WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAGH!!!!

I still love mech. No glance in the world is going to change that. So the only solution is of course, battlewagons!

Regular battlewagons are nice, but they are soooooo expensive. Solution? Leman Russ Demolishers with a few "modifications" make a great choice to base a battlewagon on.

Here's some WIP shots.

I hope its fairly recognizable as the tank I was modeling it after.

Thanks for the comments =).

I have a dilemma that I'd like to ask for your opinions. Functionally, all wagons need deffrollaz. Problem is, I don't want to put a conventional deffrolla on this. It just doesn't look right. Plus it takes a long time to custom build one, heh.

I was thinking a big dozer blade, but thats not really a deff rolla (WYSIWYG). Does anyone have any alternative ideas on how to convey a deff rolla without actually making it another steam roller like apparatus?

How good is REALLY good? (On the subject of shoota boyz) Any highlights of the games?

And what if you add a sort of mouth to the tank? As in a form of gob for tanks. Or drills? Or just some well placed spikes to impale anybody in the way?

looking very nice! I love mech myself, though havent played any 6th to see how my lists fare.... from what Ive been hearing the outlook is grim.

I really like what youve done with the tank, and I second the drill/gob idea. Something that just gives the image of completely mauling whatever is in front of it. Saws, drills, all that jazz!

I've played quite a few games of 6th so far. Here are my impressions.

The biggest change to the ork army is the removal of fearless wounds. Orks have always been an attrition army. Against most things, orks don't really win the first assault phase. We are meant to grind down the enemy in wave after wave of attacks. Losing 20 boyz a turn is perfectly acceptable when you have 120+. The problem was, it was very easy to have squads absolutely explode thanks to fearless wounds. Lose a combat by 10, lose 10 more. Thats gone now. For around 220 points you get a 31 wound unit that simply will not die.

This just further highlights what was already wrong with Trukks. They just don't carry enough boyz to keep the squad effective. The moment you start losing boyz (which is coincidentally when they blow the trukk up) you're not fearless anymore. Thats hugely bad. The chance for all vehicles to explode is greatly reduced in the new rules (reduction of Hull points results in a wrecked result, and reduction of hull points is going to be the primary method of killing vehicles)... except for trukkz. Thanks to ramshackle, the damn thing is STILL going to blow up. All the time. (Fatty, the trukkz have 3 hull points. Only things with less than three are buggies and Killa Kanz at 2).

So, more so than ever, large squads of boyz are good. Large squads of shoota boyz are even better. You've already seen the stats that a 30 man shoota mob which is roughly equivalent points to a 10 man tactical squad of space marines; will outshoot said space marines. The orks will cause on average 10 wounds, the marines will cause 6-7. The marines will lose about 3 a turn and the orks about 5 (assuming cover). Thats definitely a losing proposition for any army. (I recognize this is a fallacy because the marines will be taking heavy weapons, etc, but the points remain, 30 shoota shots is scary, and cheap). Many people also scoff at overwatch. Do you really want to try to try to weather that amount of fire (on 'average' 5 wounds), and then get stuck into a combat for the rest of the game with a HUGE block of fearless orks? I'll trade my cheap unit for your deathstar any day of the week.

Cons to the horde approach now are cover. Models have cover on a model by model basis. Its impossible to get cover for 30 boyz without a KFF running about. So the horde is not as durable as it once was to shooting. However, it is much more durable in CC. The other con (which affects all orks) is the challenge. The good old PK nob used to be the stalwart protector of the boyz. Able to punish any bruiser or bully who came into attack our lovable crew. Its not that way anymore. Thanks to challenges, most character can slaughter the nob out right, or will trade mutual kills in a challenge. So you are either going to lose your nob, or lose his attacks as he will be hiding from the challenge. Leaving the bully free to kill boyz. So thats bad, but not really terrible, as these kind of characters tend to cost roughly the same points as your boyz mob. And if your properly hording your boyz like you should, you don't care if he spends the next 2-3 game turns minimum killing your boyz.

As for the viability of kult of speed lists. Mech is not dead for orkz. Most definitely not. The assaulting out of transports nerfs do not affect us at all as all our vehicles are open topped.

Mech isn't improved for orkz, but it isn't really nerfed either. Its just different.

Pro: Vehicles are all faster now. Much faster. Thanks to all vehicles being able to take flat out moves, battlewagons can move 18 inches. You are pretty much guaranteed to be in the opponents deployment zone on turn two. Trukkz can move 24.

Con: You must now dismount at 6 inches. You may then take a normal move of six (from the hull, no more free 2 inches). So basically we lose about 2 inches of guaranteed movement + we are now subject to the whims of difficult terrain now for the other 6 inches. You will have to be more careful with your assaults. You also can't count on Ghazzy giving you the full 6 inch fleet. (fleet was nerfed across the board for everyone). So mech in my opinion is a little slower now, but not by much.

Pro: Hull points. On one hand, yes 3 glances blow up a trukk. 4 knock out a battlewagon. But honestly ask yourself, if your opponent glanced either one of those open topped vehicles that many times in 5th, how many of your open topped vehicles actually survived this? Glances no longer cause damage results. So now on average, your trukkz and wagons are actually EFFECTIVE until they die. You don't have stunned, and immobilized results mucking up your plans anymore. Sure your trukks will still be dead on turn two and maybe a wagon or two, but who cares, they actually got to move the first essential turn. And now your opponent has 90+ boyz in his deployment zone. And 90 boyz in your opponents deployment zone on turn two makes an ork player happy on a level thats hard to describe.

Wash: Vehicles are easier to hit. Much easier. If your transports are delivering boyz, they're very close to enemy close combat reprisal. Now that all vehicles are auto hit or hit on 3+ in CC, its very very easy to wreck our vehicles in CC. I consider this a wash because it is now also very easy for our boyz to wreck the enemy's vehicles.

Con: Deff rollaz are less useful. You may only disembark after 6 inches of vehicle movement. Then the vehicles movement MUST end. So you cannot move 12 to get that lovely deff rolla on the same turn as the boyz hopping out (unless your opponent is an idiot and left his vehicle 6 inches from your gigantic spikey rolling death machine). I don't see deff rollaz getting many hits in anymore because thanks to glances (and how easy it is to get side armor shots on the long battlewagon) and close combat, your wagons won't really be surviving past turn two. (I would still take the deff rolla however to continue to make your wagons a credible threat and for the terrain rerolls).

All in all, the game has changed for everyone, but for us, its still business as usual. Our overall strategy is still pretty much the same. Flood the board with targets and push the enemy into a corner because he's terrified of you. While he's being pushed further and further into his deployment zone, use grot/cheap boyz squads to take the objectives.

Still alive. Lots of hobby.

First up, 15 man strong unit of hellions. I have no idea how well these will perform on the board, but they sure as hell look cool.

And my kustom dakka jet. I was inspired by the Junk Jet from the newest white dwarf. While mine is no where near as cool, I like the way it came out.

My Baron (WIP)

So I need some advice.

I'm building a DE beast pack on a budget. Trying to keep this cheap. I can't afford $360 for a pack using 'official' GW models.

Here are my razorwings.

Now the problem is, what do I do for Khymarae ? I want to keep the pack Tyranid looking (the Haemonculous is genetically modifying and growing Tyranids for the wyches to fight). The problem is, the tyranid 'calvary models' are waaaay to expensive. Raveners are too pricey for my blood, and there aren't a big supply of cheap used ones on ebay. There are a lot of tyranid warriors, but I want to use them as Clawed Fiends (if I decide to field any). Hormagaunts are too small. Genestealers are ugly ugly models. Tyrant Guard suffer from the same problem that they're ungodly expensive.

Anyone have any suggestions on how to make some cool looking dog like tyranids?

I like the look of that baron, very nice.

Could you do something with the warriors using the bodies in a more horizontal position? Then have the clawed fiends in the more traditional upright pose? Maybe two sets of legs...

I've finished about five Khymera using stealers. I took your advice Monkey and made them more 'horizontal.' They look more dog appropriate.

Next stop... painting... or maybe converting some hellions to be beastmasters. Not sure yet!
