This post is criticism on the entire concept behind this army being posted on DakkaDakka. I take umbrage with it for a simple reason, this is not the proper forum for an art project such as this.

I think you should lock this thread and move the pictures and "army" progress to a more suitable message board. At the very least, you could just post your updates in the proper off topic MLP thread thats already established here on DakkaDakka, or make a new one just for projects such as these. I'm sure there are many adult MLP message boards that would more fully appreciate this project.

I would like to take a few lines to explain why I feel so. I have nothing against ponies, bronies, or really any other type of fandom. A few years back, I made an Elsa Lanchester Bride of Frankenstein MLP for my girlfriend at the time. (this was before the current MLP craze.) Fast forward to last December. Pony craze was taking off, and a friends' kids saw pictures of the pony I had made. For Christmas, the two girls wanted a make-your-own-pony party. I love doing arts and crafts with kids, so I agreed. knowing that the two boys would want to join in once we started working on them (along with the oldest sisters' boyfriend who was being made to participate,) I made sure to buy plenty of ponies for everyone. (I cleared out Walmart, to the chagrin of the stockman.)

A few days after christmas, I gathered all my sculpting, painting, and art supplies together and went to the party. I don't really care for the show, but we watched MLP all day. I sculpted or helped them sculpt anything they wanted and helped them paint ponies. We didn't get finished in time. so I had to come back the next weekend. A good time was had by all, and the boyfriend of the oldest found out he has a knack for painting. (getting him into Warhammer also came out of this.)

Between all of us we made an Assasin's Creed Ezio, a cthulu, A zombie pony, a Dovahkiin with iron helmet, Derpy hooves, a Rainbow Dash in the costume she designed (from the fashion show episode) complete with helmet, And a Headless Horseman.

So what does this have to do with my point? This is not the forum to show off those pieces, so I have not made a thread about them even though it involved miniature painting/sculpting. I also make movie props for a living. not only are they nerd-related, they're really cool looking. I don't post them here, because this is a forum for Wargaming. (except a rotten turkey, but that was once and a Mod moved it within a day, haha.) I also make dead bodies and do gore make-up, Also awesome but not Wargame related so I don't post them here.

I don't care what you watch, what you do, what TV shows you enjoy, what you thought of the latest blockbuster, or how your local team is doing unless it has to do with Wargaming. If I did, I would go to a public or private forum for any of these topics, and read/post about them there. I have different message boards for all my hobbies, and I keep them separate. Why? because other makeup artists don't care about props. because other prop makers don't care about Orks. I'm not angry at them for not liking the same things. Hell, the topic may even come up, but I don't intentionally start threads and discussion that is off topic from where I'm posting.

This is a message board for miniature Wargaming, and I think you're trying to shoehorn something that has nothing to do with miniatures or wargaming into this message board. There are many gray lines to what is miniature and model related, but this project clearly stems from your fandom of MLP, and not Warhammer 40k.

I request that you close the thread, or ask a Mod to move it to off topic if you really feel it adds to DakkaDakka as a whole.

by the way... that sculpting of yours is really good!

The Boltgun thing is a sort of mounted gun, strapped to the armour- a battle-saddle, if you will. Unicorns are the only ones that have the fine-manipulation necessary to pull a trigger on a standard human gun (with their telekinesis magic) so most ponies use specially made harnesses for this sort of thing. The members of the Adeptus Equus connect to their holy Bolters through the Black Carapace in their Power Barding.

Though there should be a second Bolter on the other side- Bikes have them twin-linked.

@pox- well, a well rationaled and reasoned post. I believe the reason it's on here, however, is that this army is not only meant as a showcase of artistic skill and sculpting/painting, but will be used on the tabletop as a 'counts-as' Marine Biker army- in other words, this is no different than, say, sprue-crons, or those armies that are created for Warhammer and Warhammer 40,000 using Mantic, Chapterhouse or Privateer Press models- this one's just using Hasbro miniatures as the basis.

It's actually something from different fluff. If you've ever played the Fallout series, well, there's a Pony fanfiction called Fallout:Equestria, that incorporates Battle-Saddles for heavy weapons and power-armour. That's where I got the term. The double-bolter thing is just because of the twin-linkage.

pox: well, I'm sorry you feel that way but this is a topic about me sculpting space marine ponies that will count as bikers in a 1000pts army list. The ones that you made are quite rightly not on this forum as they have nothing to do with 40K, warhammer or even wargaming, these however are, as I've said, counts as/proxy models used for my 1000pts MLp themed SM bike army. So I shall not be asking mods to close this topic, nor will I be closing it myself.

now, back to modeling an army to play wargames with that is based on one of the games factions I've almost finished twilight. just got to add banding around the back hoofs and add weapons, any other plastic bits. here she is so far ^_^

OT: For my Nurgle army my bikes are plague marines on horses. For the bolters I just strapped 2 of them together.. but maybe you could affix 1 on each side with some strapping? Like a saddle for guns. : P

@Pox. You are one of the few to make a rational and polite post about MLP. As my friends above and the creator of the pony's has stated, this is an army, for play. I believe you wanted them as whitescars DPB? But anyway, this has been stated, your belief that this is not wargaming is accepted and tolerated but not shared. This is valid to the community as the pony's are for use in game.

Twilight is shaping up nicely!

By the way, if you need another source for these, I've just found out that Tesco are now selling these mini-ponies... £5 for a 4-pack (which if the internet is accurate contains all of the mane 6 except applejack and fluttershy), or £2 for a single blister pack containing one pony (all ponies except fluttershy). I can finally get my kings of war list on to the tabletop, for less than £10! Cheapest army ever.

So.. they don't sell Fluttershy, but she is the same sculpt as rainbow dash anyway, so it's just a matter of getting a second rainbow dash to repaint.

I think it's only the big stores that sell them as well, so I'll probably be ordering them online and getting strange looks from the deliveryman when I check that my request for applejack and rainbow dash blisters were carried out correctly.

£5 :O thats half what I paid :(
