The bandit morph system wasn't working very well, it was easy to get the skin in self defense for example and it was a massive 'shoot me' sign. You can still change your appearance, you can find skins such as a ghillie suit (highly recommended by the way, you are nearly invisible with it on) as loot now

In practice DayZ is a shoot first kind of game, and it basically always has been. Some people treat it was a deathmatch and hang around the coastal cities shooting each other with the starting pistol and have short lifespans while the more thoughtful player knows how difficult all the kit that he has managed to aquire is to replace and would rather not take chances with random strangers. Truth be told the pure survival route isn't all that much fun, my current 'life' is now 5 days old and living in the woods looting deer hides for weaponry and living of wildlife just isn't all that interesting.

It has to be one of the strangest criteria for buying a game that I have ever heard of, especially has it has little to nothing to do with the actual game given that this is an FPS. I really don't care what sex my character is, you however seem to only want to play female characters, surely thats as sexist as only wanting to play male ones?

Thats not what she appears to be saying though. She appears to only be interested in the game becuase you can now have a female skin, irrespecitve of other considerations. I couldn't care less what she plays as but basing your gaming purchases on such a peripheral feature is simply wierd. it certainly appears to be sexisim.

No she is saying when she is on fence about buying a game and then the dev's add a feature that not many games have she is more likely to buy it, it's not hard to grasp.

I would imagine that it means that you must think about the choice. I doubt that there are technical reasons as you can swap out your skin in game.

I will stay male, but I genuinely think playing as a woman would improve your survival rate by at least a few percentage points :p

To be honest I doubt it as combat usually takes place at long range you won't be able to tell the difference. Some people may be hesitant but others will be more likely to kill you.

But if you give me your beans I will totally send you nekkid pictures :(

* To collect firewood, you can either find it in loot piles, or go into a forest and use the hatchet (gear > Right Click). I will expand this mechanic but its enough for now.

I died of dehydration today. Infuriating way to lose an A.L.I.C.E. Pack. I was stocked on drink but got through it all over a few hours and didn't find one drop anywhere :-/

I hear that you can replenish thirst with Tomatos... but I've not seen any... maybe the guy was lying?

In this case it's the opposite. If the game provides only the option to play as one gender, and it's a game where you're supposed to identify with your character for immersion, than for anyone not of that gender that's probably a barrier to immersion and it reduces the appeal of the game.

Day Z is a bit too realistic even for my liking. The medical system is far too involved and needs a bit more abstraction, that and the zombies move like kenyan runners on meth.

I prefer taw_tonic's wasteland mod, there's only one server right now but its similar to day z, just no zombies and more cars. That and you can scavange for objects and build bases so it has almost a minecraft side to it.

This game makes me wonder how a Battle Royal game would work.

Put a potato down the front of your trousers, high five the air a little and try some yfronts... there problem sorted and you can now accept it is realism.
