Do not underestimate the Squats. They survived for millenia cut off from the Imperium and assailed on all sides. Their determination and resilience is an example to us all.

Its just a shame that they couldn't fight off Andy Chambers.

Has anyone had a chance to see how the change of 'no bandit suit' has been received yet?
There were a lot of people worried that it would make people even less trusting, and the game would descend into a 'kill all' deathmatch.

I would think they should instead just make it harder to get?

Its not really made much of a difference as far as I can see. It was a flawed system to begin with.

Finally downloaded Arma (after the slowest download speed from Steam I have ever seen) and after playing it a few times (I felt like I should be wearing a military uniform when playing ) going to have a go at Dayz..
Playing with appalling resolution and frame-rate with my now rather aged PC, but definitely looking forward to it! I have been told to try and collect beans....

I love DayZ, only problems I have had were with battleye (needed to reinstall it) and for some reason I can never seem to find a slightly better weapon.

Just played the game for the first time, and well it's a lot of fun! I think the arma controls aren't the best, and I understand now what someone said about the zombies running like they are on meth !
First life lasted about 10 minutes - shot a zombie after he spotted me, but soon about 5-6 more followed him! Tried to cross a lake (so they would lose my scent ) but ended up bleeding out on a hill..
Second time around I was a bit more careful - made my way to some warehouse, but it was as dark as hell so I used a flare. BIG mistake, about 5-6 zombies came into the building (answering my question about if they can open doors!) I ran upstairs and fortunately was able to funnel them down a corridor and managed to kill them. With the flare I was able to look around the building and found a bit of ammo (along with some empty cans of beans!) and a firewood axe. But, not being able to see anything I've logged out and will wait for the sun to rise before I go back to it!
Haven't seen anyone else yet except for a body (a guy who had died with full stock of stuff), so I've taken his beans and ammo. Really enjoying the game despite its faults, I can see what the fuss is about definitely.

Don't play in the dark, its really no fun.
Avoiding zombies is pretty easy, all you need to do is crouch or go prone and you can go about your buisness in peace.
I got killed today after 9 days, 4 zombies in a row managed to make me bleed, using up all my bandages and I ended up bleeding out at the door of a supermarket (which was probably stuffed with bandages) after losing about 15000 blood. I'm getting quite bored with it now, all thats left for me to do really is gank people in Cherno.

Brits, play on American servers; it's always daylight and the ping difference doesn't really factor in.
I like Virginia and NY.

And as usual, Australians suffer the most. We have 3 servers, usually full. And our admins just are a bunch of twerps.

I will expand this mechanic but its enough for now. What is firewood used for, just to make campfires or something?
Also, anyone know the answer to this?

Its used to make fires, you need matches to make a fireplace and wood to keep it burning. Fires are used to cook meat (which you need to kill animals for and which you will also need a hunting knife) and to keep warm.
Thats assuming that I am not on your /ignore list.
