Frazz, don't let the dogs anywhere near chocolate, especially not that stuff, it's got a very high concentration of theobromine in the concentrated cocoa, it's likely to be lethal, especially in little dogs.

It does depend on the type of chocolate and the size of the dog, but in general, pets shouldn't eat human chocolate. That's why they sell dog chocolates made of carab. Same taste, no pet poison.
We actually had one of our dogs get a hold of a 1kg block of chocolate at easter. We pried most of it away, but it ended up chowing down on a good third of the block. We took it to the vet, he saw the size of the dog (it was an 80kg Bull Mastiff), asked what chocolate it ate (basically confectionary chocolate, low cocoa content), and pretty much laughed it off.
