Avengers definitely, just researched the movie just to see the hulk rag doll Loki and hear the little murmur afterwards. Not a huge Star Wars fan... Don't hate me for it, just prefered Star Trek more. One of my friends in school was just such a damnable Star Wars fanboi that I couldn't watch any of the movies afterwards without him trying to do the voice. Not even close. It broke open the genre, but the newer movies kind of killed any chance of me getting back into it. At least until Disney makes more of the films.

Just got the micromark.com newsletter, some decent things in there, might pick up a chop it. I want one of the better ones though, so maybe Dave could give me some advice. Don't mind spending more to get a much better item. Plus I need the squares.

After using my Chop-it for a year, it sort of fell apart. I'd recommend the CHopper II http://www.modeltrainstuff.com/NWSL-The-Chopper-II-p/nwsl-69-4.htm A much better construction.

Thanks for the link Dave, probably order next week, waiting to hear on a few things. In the mean time...

What's this?

Is that dandruff? Or could it be???

RIVETS ahoy!

Well finally popped my riveting cherry. Not the best, but it will improve.

Also big thanks to hyenajoe. A certain dakka member now has the PDFs for cutting out the imperial bastion and fire base. I'll print them at school tomorrow and hopefully get to work on them Saturday. Forgot that my twins have a field trip Friday that I am chaperoning.

And on the 8th day of my blog there were rivets. And theophony showed them to the riveters and they saw them and said......(this is where you reply)

Those are some SEXY rivets!

The more you cut and glue, you'll enter a state of spiritual and mental bliss known as "Rivet Zen"

Remember, even the crooked ones can be used, as they can be sanded flush once the glue cures!

Thanks Dave. Tried your old method of free cutting the rod lengths so there's plenty of crooked ones. Just like the government. Yes I said it. There are dozens of little rod bits all over my modeling room area. Looks like I have a bad case of dandruff. Finally enlisted a piece of terrain as a rivet catcher .

ah.... now we are cooking!...er...riveting

looks very good... and yes.... as dave stated... i ahve the same problems ...but if i want to make some small and quick rod rivtes that chop it sure is THE tool... but well... if you are willing to spend the extra dollar... follow daves instruction... he knows the cutting business back to front^^

the barricades have a total new and way more professional look on them now that you“ve riveted them...
and poped your own cherry?...what has the world become???...the nerve^^

as for the new movies... well... we know georgie borgie has had to be drunk and crazed by some weird drugs to come up with lots of that garbage he put in these... like gungans... or the mediocloranes.... and he even wrecked the classic ones too... who shot first?... han did!...nuff said!

lol... i have the bastion plan too... even built them... never took a pic of these ... as they are from a prerivted phase of mine and never did i deem them fit for audience^^

Hey Theo, I tweeted iplasticsupply a suggestion to re-add decimal sizes to their website, and today they implemented it Now they are listed in fractions and decimals.

Good job getting hem to o the decimals. But I guess they listen to their number one customer maker. Dave sends everyone there....hey are you getting a commission, because you should the decimals did show up when you go to check out before, but if they show them on the order page that I'll make future orders easier. I haven't put too big of a dent in my 96 pieces though, so it will be a while for me.

So halfway through rivet making I was getting upset because they were going everywhere. So what to do? Find alternative uses for terrain.

Metal tank storage which will receive detail work this weekend.

Transforms into

Golf inspired rivet catcher.

I know it's not the greatest of ideas and some of the little buggers flew so fast that they bounced off the back of the can and right back out. It did cut rivet loss by a huge amount though.

More later, have to get the kidlets dinners ready.

Try putting down some masking tape sticky side up and cutting them on that...and make SURE you're using sharp blades.

The tin cup is actually working pretty well. I might put tape in the bottom of it, or something soft so they don't ricochet off the back of the can. If that fails I have some excellent double sided clear tape that I use to hold miniatures to a priming stick, I'll put that down and cut on it.

Great minds think alike , then there's the rest of us who sometimes fire on the same cylinder.

Okay, new stuff. I have just finished listening to/watching an old episode of justice league, which helped me to come up with a gang idea. I will probably be using my Escher for this, but it may change back to spryer. Or I could do both gangs with an alternate version.

thirteen new bases , some textured with tiles, some with diamond plate, to be used for the below ideas. Each base has a magnet inside it and flat plasticard on the bottom to keep the magnet from falling off.

The idea. "The royal flush gang" - this will probably be the spryer gang name. Each of the 5 members will have the distinction of being a different card from the suit which is yet to be determined. The gang will be composed of 10 (possibly denoted as X), Jack, Queen, King, and Ace.
Ace- I think should be a Yeld. After all aren't all pilots nicknamed Ace.
King- should be a powerhouse so I am leaning towards a orrus here, give me your imput.
Queen- what else really fits besides a Jakara.
Jack- I love malcadons and have a few of them so I think they will make an appearance here.
Ten or X- I'm thinking of making this another malcadons, because like I said I love these guys.

If I go with Escher, then they will be the Wildcards. The leader will be Ace, king and queen spots will be reserved for specialists/heavies. Jack/Jacqueline will be a spot for lead ganger, and the other numbers will be given out at random with new juve recruits being called deuce.

I'm sure this idea is out there and have seen others use it too, some here on dakka. Names withheld for their protection. So I hope I don't offend anyone by doing this.

also no clue about any DC comics... sorry... i would have suggested hellfire then

and if you want to show us the good work you“ve done with your bases... you need to do something about your picturetaking methods... nothing is to be seen there... light flushed out all the details...

I think the royal flush gang would work better as Spyrers than Escher. You could get away with a gang of 5 and it would fit the supervillain/gadgets theme.Nice idea. Those Justice League cartoons are fantastic.

@dreadclaw, I'm inspired to be hated if that helps any. Thanks.
@starfarer, I was willing to go much higher, but was really glad I didn't have to. Thanks, hopefully more to come soon.
@bruticus, yeah I'm really leaning towards the spryer gang. I really don't like the Jakara, they never performed for me, so I'd rater field two orrus, two malcadons, and a yeld, but then who would be queenie. Guess I could dress one of the orrus in drag . I just also have a ton of Escher models to use. Guess I'll need a different idea for them.
@dsteingass, I wish I had a lamp to work with. We bought this house back in August, my wife fell in love with it because its old and has "character". I dug out this corner of the basement and have laid carpet and have room to mess around, but it needs work. The house is almost 80 years old and there are only two outlets I the basement. One for the washer dryer, one for the freezer and dehumidifier. I already have an ugly octopuss happening on the freezer so I can have my battery charger and ultrasonic cleaner running. I have changed out the old ceramic lights above me to have one plug on each, but those are just to far from where I need them. We hope to do some remodeling this year if everything goes according to our plans. That would include new electrical panel and more outlets. I will try what I can to get better pictures, all of them are with my iPad, so I don't know if that is part of the problem also.
@vik, see above mein freund. The spryer are just evil jerks from the upper crust of society that come slumming in the underhive to gain glory by killing as many gangers as they can. They have all the cool toys. I'm a marvel fan from way back, even managed two comic book stores here. I never really got into dc comics, just their cartoons have always been better than marvels.

Thanks everyone for the feedback, I really do get a boost of energy out of it. Better pics will come in time. Now onto some cutting, gluing, and riveting.

I think there is an other episode of Justice League where there is another Royal Flush gang and the queen is a transvestite, you could consider an Orrus in a wig.

@bruticus, I think I've seen that. I just finished watching both seasons of justice league cartoons available on Netflix and didn't see its appearance in either episodes. I think it may have been in a batman o superman show though. It might wind up the queen bing "malcadonna" .

So got an email this morning from poweredplay.net. They are sending me a sample if their mini 9 volt battery pack free in the mail. Woohoo! These are the light kit guys that I got the two sample packs from last week. I guess they are trying to stir up more business for their kickstarter. They also announced(sort of), that they made a deal with one of the largest gaming distributors while they were at adepticon. They will, are still going to be producing these products even if the kickstarter doesn't go over. Also I believe in the email I got earlier this week they will be doing sound and smoke effects, so my necromunda board may wind up with more power than my basement .
