Points values - how much over will you allow?
0. Either has to be dead on or under. No exceptions!
Less than 5 is ok
Up to 25 (coz I'm a top bloke)
More than 25
We only loosely follow the points system in our games so it doesn't matter

I can see why people wouldn't care too much about few points, mainly because it's hard to find something that costs say... 4 points or whatever it is to just drop. It's usually more like, "Okay drop 15 points here, and be under"

Then drop 15 points.

Like always man, friendly games should be friendly. If someone is a few points over you can usually then add a weapon somewhere too.

Exactly, friendly games should be friendly and you should never show up with a list that is over the point limit and act like you're entitled to use those extra points. You should respect your opponent and avoid putting them in a situation where they have to either let you get away with cheating or be "mean" to you and make you change your list.

There is no such thing as a hobby without politics. "Leave politics at the door" is itself a political statement, an endorsement of the status quo and an attempt to silence dissenting voices.

Yeh this is it right here... it's people trying to scam a small advantage, but making the other guy feel bad for not allowing it.

Unfortunately it's the way in our society.... people pull scummy moves all the time but heaven forbid some horrible person should point it out!!!!

In my experience, people usually have a restricted selection of models; saying "well, in that case, swap that expensive unit for a cheaper one" isn't an option. I find it preferable to play with models using the equipment they're modelled with than to use odd proxies just to force the army into the points limit.

After all, no-one thinks all models are all "perfectly" valued, do they?

Well, I can swallow that opponent accidentaly over limit for three, five points, but I wont stand "hey, its about that much". If I spent maybe even hours counting points so it fits and sometimes even changed my armylist because of effectivity and WYSIWYG, I've no understanding for being intentionally and repeatedly sloppy.

Even if your collection is so extremely limited that you can't simply drop a space marine or 2 to fit into the points limit, why then, if you know you can't make a list at X points, would you arrange a X points game?

"I can't really do 1500 points, can we play a 1600 point game?" is a lot better than "I can't really do 1500 points, so I'm entitled to be 30 points over the limit".

You know what really bugs me? When my opponent, before they show up at the FLGS smears themselves in peanut butter and then makes blood sacrifices to Ashterai by slitting the throat of three male chickens and then smears the spatter pattern into the peanut butter to engrave sacred symbols into their chest and upper arms.
I have a peanut allergy. It's really inconsiderate.

Before the final blow was struck, I tore open a portal in space and flung him into the Warp, where my evil is law! Now the fool seeks to return to real-space, and undo the evil that is Chaos!"
