He can't name his source, too risky for the person involved. GW is quite zealous in keeping their secrets.

Of course, this doesn't eliminate the possibility of him making everything up, but as he has 1 confirmed and 0 fakes (the last rumor listed about the site down for a few days is speculation NOT a rumor) so far, it's looking reliable.

Guys, seriously, stop asking rumor mongers to post their sources. If they told us the sources name, the source would likely be fired and no more rumors.

If you believe the guy, cool, if not, cool. But none of us will know until the rumors come to pass or don't. So chill, wait and then you can throw the poor guy under the bus, IF his rumors don't turn out to be correct.

He does have a source (he claims), he just chooses not to give it away, which is perfectly reasonable. It's not worth risking people getting in trouble just so that you're gonna feel better about an online rumour.

Not naming the source is perfectly reasonable, but most newspapers will at least indicate the nature of the source, ie "a friend" "passer by" etc.
So without any qualification this source could be a redshirt all the way up to Jervis himself.

I question the validity of this info based in two counts, the plausibility of the OP as a rumourmonger based in the info in his user profile, and the fact that nearly all the info in his rumours have already been largely talked about by rumourmongers with established track records, and those details which are specific (new FB starter contents for instance) are qualified as "subject to change" and therefore are already primed with a get out of jail free card.

If I'm wrong, fair enough, I'll hold my hands up, but frankly, there isn't really a lot that isn't likely or already anticipated, so, source or no source, I expect he'll get a number of TRUEs from Pretre regardless.

It's not so much about rumours being possibly wrong. All rumour-mongers get some rumours wrong (if they didn't, it wouldn't be rumours, but a genuine leak).

It's more the fact that it's hard to distinguish here what exactly is genuinely coming from Necronspur's source, and what is just Natfka-reposts, idle speculation and other "noise".

Well, if anyone really cares, simply going by post timestamps should sift reposts from genuinely new stuff. Not my kind of pastime, but the info should be out there...

Dwarf / Website Rumors - Jan 2014
Dwarfs are set to get a heavy release in the first two weeks of february. TRUE
The first week is the codex and all redos of metal/finecast kits along with troops units. FALSE
The second week will bring new kits and the larger ones like warmachines and characters. FALSE

Dwarf slayers with get a new plastic kit FALSE
and a new siege engine will be released aswell FALSE

I'd even take issue with giving the first one a true, as all I've seen so far is a typical monthly release spread over three weeks instead of one. But I'll concede that you're the arbiter of these things Pretre and whatever you think is fair.

There is A plastic slayer, and (I think you mean replace metal and finecast with plastic?) there are now plastic alternatives to the metal /finecast generic characters.

I'm not questioning your ratings, I understand that your system needs to be black and white, I'm just saying that based on the list you posted the source wasn't completely out to lunch.

Looks like he also rumored a War Alter, so that's another specific item wrong.
So that would be all the vague general stuff sort of right if you squint at it, and all the specifics pretty much wrong.

Shouldn't we wait until the Dwarf release is clearly over, if plastic slayers and a new warmachine come out by the end of the month, he would really only be off in the 2 vs 4 weeks deal. Also, you could count the new version of the gyrocopter as a new war machine.

Gyro was week one with the dual infantry kit and isn't a 'siege engine'. Also, pretty sure we're done with the release now that we have the leaks for week 3/4 already.

I will certainly reverse tracking if we get surprised though.

Gyro is a week 2 release.

Week 1 was the Dwarf Slayer, Hammerers/Longbeards, and Belegar Ironhammer.

Looks like his source(s) aren't so good...

Hey pretre, I have a question, he posted a rumour of this; "There and back again kits will be released."

I just wanted to know, what is the point of giving him a true if that is true? That is like me starting a rumour thread and saying 'my source tells me a 40k codex will be updated this year'. Just curious as to how your tracker will handle that.
