An army shot will be on the agenda, hopefully once i actually get everything sorted because my collection is kinda chaotic right now. (heh) But that's something i'd love to look into soon!

Now i recall last update i said something about cultist conversions for my Death guard list, I'm really happy with how they've turned out, and they're made from a combination of Imerpail guard, Empire archers/free company, Skitarii and DV cultists.

I tried to retain the trencher theme of the iron warriors with the great coats, and took heavy inspiration from the "chaos brethren" from mordheim as well for the hoods and well..cultist-ish look

In additon i also managed to finally get my first two melta squads of IW rebased into the newer 32mm or whatever it is, so now i can add some basing detail and then finally get to painting them! Yay!

Automatically Appended Next Post:
Hopefully the plan for the next few updates will be something to the effect of -

- Getting a proper area set up for taking pictures of my little plastic dudes
- Hopefully getting some stuff painted
- Finishing off as much stuff as possible

I'll keep you all updated!

And Suddenly! An update appeared out of nowhere!

So boy do i have quite the haul...

Aside from the usual "getting like 4 million marines and stuff re based and prepared for the paint" montage I've got going behind the scenes, My dark mechanicus is making great leaps and i have so many wonderful conversions to show! Oh and a "Western Front" themed gameboard underway, yay!

Gather round ye' fellow children of the dark gods and gaze upon the newest additions to the ranks of the 10th Grand Company!

So i may have spent a bit of money over the past few weeks... There is also meant to be a skaven warlord and imperial sector box there too but they kinda decided to disappear into the bloody aether instead of join the photo. The little bags have chaos marine backpacks inside them, because it wouldnt be an order from Games Workshop if i didnt buy like 20 of the damn things each time.

Oh and a corpse cart too, for my death guard pet project I've got going on the side.

Woo, more freakin re based marines. Still got loads more to take pictures of.. i'll try to do a big marine themed update soon as an excuse to get them all done.

Now onto those more recent darkmech conversions..

So we have some kataphron destroyers, because i've always LOVED THESE MODELS SO MUCH..Ahem, and they are currently sporting the wrack heads/masks for a more barbaric/ Iron Warrior/ Chaos-y type of feel, originally i was going to use chaos warrior helmets but they didnt really satisfy me..

They also have ork pauldrons to represent armour plates hastily constructed by their cultist/marine comrades, between fights in an attempt to reinforce their protection as quick as possible.
As well as the fact that i'm taking that whole western front type theme and turning up by 40,000 notches (get it?) which is why they also have mud based on them as well as little bits of stowage i intend to add as well, making them double as pack mules in a way.

I'm still undecided on whether to give them Plasma Calivers or Heavy Grav cannons though.

Anyways, got some Sicarian Ruststalkers too!

And the Princeps..

Like the kataphrons, these guys have been converted using the gladiatorial style masks, as well as the spine mutations from the Wrack Kit.

This idea mostly spurred not only from the fact that they now look like hideously deformed monsters but also from a little bit of background fluff too. I recall reading somewhere that Skitarii/ Ruststalker backpacks house all kinds of equipment and life support measures on them.

I looked at the wracks and saw a similar thing going, with all the stimulant injectors, IV bags and stuff and all the wiring, and i was like "Hey! That would look great to not only represent horrific experimentation upon my subjects but also their life support systems"

That and i want my dark mechanicus to look not only horrific but also keep some of the badass traits of the loyalist admech, asi do really really...REAAAALLY love the models in all fairness.

Which is where the princeps comes in, I've used the dataspike to represent some kind of angry tail of poking death and also given him a literal scissorhand, also from the wrack kit. I now can't decide on giving him a transonic razor in his right arm like with his comrades, or some other kind of gruesome device to butcher the opponents of the 10th Grand Company with.

And lastly, I've also started working on a gameboard about half an hour ago.
As I've said a few times throughout the thread and you may have noticed yourself (possibly due to luggage carrying dreadnoughts, german style cultists, duckboard reinforced rhinos and loads of muddy style bases) that i'm going for a very heavy western front theme, as i feel it fits snugly into the aesthetic of the Iron Warriors.

The gameboard is essentially a huge frickin piece of wood with sand and rocks PVA glued to it..and it'll be painted dark brown. Big whoop.

The plan is to have some tracks dug into the mud from all the vehicles passing through, with some craters and stuff and loads of uneven terrain. Mostly because it's basically just a bombed out wasteland and i still need room for all the terrain i have to put on the board too!

Regardless, i'm really really pleased with the results, I only stopped to take pictures because im out of PVA glue, and running out of sand VERY fast. But don't worry i promise it'll be cool when it's done!

Next update will be that fabled army shot, because i wanna show this army in it's full size. Heck, sometimes i forget i even have certain models sometimes, also gotta do that army shot for JeffyP!

And I'll also deploy a glorious wall of fluffy text explaining the motives of the 10th Grand Company, their origins and their organisation/recruiting methods, to set the scene

EDIT: Yeah i know, i gotta work on that camera flash. It's bugging me too, but it's bed time right now so i wasn't gonna fuss too much

Cheers buddy! I'm really happy with them!

I've been working on the gameboard on and off all day today, mostly because i ran out of sand and gravel like 3 times and kept having to get more, as well as PVA and spray adhesive. In addition to fiddling with the chaos marines, adding any last details and stuff as well as preparing ideas for the rest of the dark mechanicus.

Hot damn i've really got to stop neglecting this thread!
Just finished my finals so woot woot nothing to stop me now!

So this update was said to contain the fluff of the army as well an army shot, so let's get to it shall we?

The 10th Grand Company is currently led by Warpsmith Ostragoth Maternus in the late 41st Millenium, he started his service to the IVth legion back in the horus heresy as an insignificant legionnaire. His descent into madness was first sparked during his participation in the purging of Olympia, wherein the Iron Warriors had to slaughter the population of their homeworld due to the uprising. Much like many of the other legionnaires he fought with at the time as well as Perturabo himself, he was traumatised and guilt ridden by his actions in destroying his homeworld and so this fueled his initial hatred towards the Imperium and millennia of self loathing to come.
When the heresy broke out shortly after, Ostragoth was more than willing to take up arms against the Imperium and besiege Terra with the rest of his newfound comrades. After the chaos forces retreated back to the Eye of Terror after the felling of Horus, Ostragoth continued to fight alongside the Iron Warriors but under the ever changing banners of rival warsmiths squabbling over shreds of leadership within the demented confines of the Immaterium all the while plotting his revenge to the Imperium.

Over time he begun to dabble with machinery more and so became an apprentice Warpsmith under the supervision of the Warsmith at the time in the 10th Grand Company around M36. When he found the time was right, as well as confident in his abilities to work with Daemon Engines and other technology, he overthrew the Warsmith of the 10th Grand Company with the aid of the Company's Advisor and sorcerer; Lukanfell Riesen.
This success in overthrowing his Warsmith and assuming the position gradually led to Ostragoth developing and extremely egotisical and arrogant attitude as he now possessed an entire grand company at his fingertips in conjunction with several millennia of experience and the ability to maintain the armoury.
In addition, he became extremely obsessed with the technology he maintained and so begun to constantly construct daemon engines as well as hire the services of as many hereteks as he could to ensure the foundries in his territory would be continuously working.

After 3 more Millennia (M39 now) of mucking around in the Immaterium, contructing numerous daemon engines as well as trading with other legions/companies and annoying other warbands for whatever reason, Ostragoth grew tired of the Warp and ventured out with his Grand Company and a megatonne of daemon engines he had constructed over time as well as with Lukanfell. Upon warping out into realspace he found himself in the Eastern fringes of the galaxy and set about plundering backwater planets that no one really cared about and using primitive xenos as "target practice" for the company. However, over time certain worlds would put up a fight, whether it be by wildlife or a percentage of a more advanced race's presence (like Rogue Traders or Explorators) and so the company begun to take casualties that were irreparable due to the remote location they were in of the galaxy and so could barely recruit new legionnaires at all.

This led to Ostragoth colonising a barren world known as "Tarkris" and setting up forges and citadels there for the time being until his manpower issue was solved as well as keeping it as a secret "hideout" if things went south. Lukanfell suggested hiring out Chirurgeons from several of the other rival grand companies and warbands within the Immaterium to assist in recovering gene seed from enemy marines during battle as well as a cloning program he had in mind, which Ostragoth took great interest in. Lukanfell briefly returned to the warp with several chosen bodyguards and set about 'persuading' any and all chirurgeons he knew of into joining the 10 Grand Company, whether it be by bribery, intimidation or merely just good old persuasion.

Upon his return to Ostragoth with several new Chirurgeons for the company, he expanded upon his ideas of cloning the current garrison of the Grand Company in that each Chirurgeon would be assigned a detachment of legionnaires and they would be responsible for their wellbeing, if one of them died, the Chirurgeon would be responsible for harvesting their equipment and anything left of them and cloning a replacement as soon as possible with the aid of the dark powers and cloning vats similar to that of the daemonculaba. The marines lucky enough to be reborn each time after death were naturally the typical rank and file legionnaires, anything else such as havocs or raptors were not deemed as expendable and so were valued more. This led to Havoc squads being assigned apprentice warpsmiths in order to maintain their equipment to the best of their ability and ensure that they are kept alive.

Over time, more and more legionnaires became casualties due to dragged out battles and more marines were required for their pillaging of worlds as they progressively moved inwards in the galactic map. This progressively led to more Chirurgeons being trained and so each squad would now be assigned a Chirurgeon instead of the usual aspiring champion. This was to maintain an upkeep of warriors as best as possible and even to clone more and than initially required during downtime of wars.

Just as legionnaires took many casualties, as did Ostragoth's daemon engines and so he progressively became more obsessed with creating and maintaining daemon engines. Upon the field of battle he will always be seen conducting field repairs of his machines and off the frontlines, continually constructing more which grew into an unhealthy obsession with creation.

That's all I've got so far. I'll expand upon it later naturally but that is the general premise I've got so far.
I'm going to upload the army shot in a few hours so that it's not just a massive block of unreadable text mushed with pictures
