Oh yes, I'm not saying anything will work or even if it was the best course of action. I think GW fail on many of those points.

With regards to new models, GW have obviously got an order of priority. First were the two flagship armies (Stormcast and Chaos), next we have the Dwarf Slayers.

As much as the Seraphon needed new Saurus Warriors, the Dwarf Slayer obviously trumps it in terms of priority. The Dawrf Slayer is one of the most iconic Warhammer miniatures and it is still currently being sold in metal with a sculpt maybe 20 years old?

GW will want to keep a steady pace of releases and that's while we'll see simply repackaging as stop fillers between new models coming out.

Bye bye Dakkadakka, happy hobbying! I really enjoyed my time on here. Opinions were always my own :-)

Exactly. I absolutely agree that all of those points where the 'point' of AoS.

But changing the name does nothing for IP protection, given that Aztec lizards are not a GW invention. Changing the models could have fixed that by introducing a unique look to them.

You are not shaking up anything if you change the fluff but no models.
This assumes that GW knows a danged thing about how IP works - and given that their IP head had to admit in court that he did not....

The reason I bought rules and became a real wargamer was because I wanted a properly thought out structure to govern the action instead of just making things up as I went along.

Pfffft, I'm sure GW knows exactly what they are talking about. It's the backwards, hillbilly, court system that is only good for stopping men stealing their neighbors hogs that is at fault!

Of course being the first to use a historical motif on a model means you own that motif, and of course trademarks and copywrites are interchangeable, and don't even get me started on how drawing something gives you the copywrite over the model for it.

Oh, I certainly vote with my dollar, but the problem is that that is not enough. The problem with the 'vote with your dollar' response is that it doesn't take into account why we're not buying the product. I want to enjoy 40k enough to buy back in. It was my introduction to traditional games, and there was a time when I enjoyed it very much. I want to buy 40k, but Gamesworkshop is doing their very best to push me away, and simply not buying their product won't tell them that.

Theres also an issue with scale, I thought one of the points of updating fantasy armies for AoS wasn't just a base change but they were scaling models up. Lizardmen standard troops like silly next to all the updated model armies which currently the new new armies look to have a more larger individual model look where each model means more than 10 standard looking guys back in fantasy as in each guy is its own hero sort of look which currently the old armies fail to fit. So already GW is making some armies not really fit the new aesthetics and look outdated on re-release. Its not stratagy on the new lizardmen part its been lazy, if they don't care about lizardmen why should I.

Chaos got big guy models each brimming with individual details, each looking like their own hero on the battlefield and lizardmen instead of having unique individual saurus guys towering over human characters have:

Spoiler:

pretty much the equivalent of a clan rat. Instead of giving lizardmen players something that fits the new game

Spoiler:

Its laughable for a release for a whole new system. They took greater care and attention when re-releasing tau and that wasn't even for a new system with new aesthetics.

Ask of me, and I will make the nations your heritage,
and the ends of the earth your possession. You shall break them with a rod of iron and dash them in pieces like a potter’s vessel. Now therefore, O kings, be wise; be warned, O rulers of the earth. Serve the Lord with fear, and rejoice with trembling. Kiss the Son,
lest he be angry, and you perish in the way,
for his wrath is quickly kindled. Blessed are all who take refuge in him.

...or it's because they don't have infinite resources and the ability to resculpt the entire range overnight?

Chaos warriors (not blood warriors) suffer from the same staticness that the Saurus warriors do. It's going to take a long time to resculpt the entire range and obviosuly GW have a priority of which models will get rescultped before others. Looks like they are trying to keep momentum with the pace of releases by reboxing factions that already fit the aesthetic style of AoS (like Seraphon, Skaven and Sylvaneth). Feel free to disagree if they fit the aesthetic or not - but with only certain factions being shown in images in the AoS books it's clear that GW has an idea of what fits and what doesn't.
