Wow, that's horrible about Fernandez. I wish his family and friends well.

In much less serious news, the Nationals lost Wilson Ramos to an injury for the rest of the season. That's a big loss to lose your starting catcher right before the playoffs.

I did and always will remember him as making that insane catch off of a line drive. The bewildered look on the hitters face, and the huge ass smile on Fernandez's face, shaking his head "Yes I caught that".

The tribute was pretty hard to watch.

Tex's walkoff grandslam was spectacular. I went to High School with him , he was a year older but we had some electives together, and I'm happy to see him going out with a bang!

But then up in Toronto, another of my former classmates(2 years younger), Gavin Floyd, who pitches for the Blue Jays is injured, and may be going out on a decline.

It probably doesn't matter anyway - the Giants snuck in to the playoffs, it is an even 'every other year' for them and, well, you know the rest!

As much as I'd love to see the Sox win another one, their performance the last week re-opens some concerns we thought were settled.

And while the Cubs look unstoppable, who knows?

Either way, I think this will be a very fun postseason!

I'm rooting for the not-Cubs in this post season.

I'm just glad the Cardinals didn't make it - damn are they an annoying team/fanbase to have to deal with!

Ya, can't believe the Jays won that series. The Red Sox's big bats didn't show up.

The Red Sox kinda sorta didn't care too much about it, and still 'only' lost 2 close games - 1 run?

The Jays, however, were playing for their playoff lives so...not really surprised.

More troubling for me is Kimbrel's lack of focus/mechanics/ability to throw an f'n strike!

Hopefully the rather lackluster finish to their season doesn't adversely affect the Sox vs. the Tribe though.

Just as a general observation, it seems that stereotypical Canadian politeness doesn't really apply to the Toronto fan base and, in this case, much of the Blue Jays team (if you hadn't noticed, damn near every time there was a major incident involving batters getting plunked and things getting hostile, Toronto was involved)
