Those are beautiful. So, so beautiful. The application of paint & colours you've chosen works so well. Keep up the excellent work.

Grimdark, yes, but with an element of hope...
My crazed backround fluff has these guys hailing form Craftworld Saertha-Fael, which means 'Phoenix-Rising' (and is a contraction of "firebird rising" in Welsh). They recognise the darkness of the current situation for the Eldar, but hope that the ember of their race can be rekindled and their strength return, tempered by the discipline of the Path system.

I've been thinking about the grav tanks, but haven't come up with a definitive design yet. The Guardians I think are going to be: black/red base with yellow faceplate, shoulder pads, chest, forearms and kneepads : )

That group shot is jaw-dropping. I loved the color scheme individually, but seeing them all together really just makes the whole concept that much cooler. Always excited to see your progress, so please keep sharing and posting.

Stripes done on the remaining Warlocks, and their robes and armour blocked in (you can still see a little damp wash in places!).
I also now reek of Dettol as I stripped a Wraithlord, the WraithWalker and a Vyper today - all three were in various states of incompletion, so they've been stripped and are now ready for the craftworld colours (I fancy having multiple, go-faster stripes on the WraithWalker lol). I also may have purchased the Eldar Army box on Ebay... oops...

@Vitruvian: well, you know, I thought it was time to get an avatar, and I was jealous of all you guys ; )
(although I was momentarily confused at your comment... "I've already painted the Avatar last year" went through my head... d'oh!)

@Coyote: thank you very much, although from my point of view, until I hold a Golden Demon in my grubby, paint-stained hands, I will always think that my stuff's not quite good enough yet! ; )

I love the scheme you've got going with your Eldar. Bright contrasts, great blends and how solid the colours are. They'll definately stand out at a GD. Are the warlocks and farseer going to be a squad entry?

I'll have to add the progressive glazing to the list of things i want to try. I'm finding it hard to pick a model i like the most from you... Which is your favourite?

I was chatting to The Beloved yesterday about the possibility of them being a squad for Golden Demon... Are they a proper, legal squad? I'm a bit hesitant to enter them as a squad because there's no champion or standard bearer, and that's what the look for in squads... The plan was for the Farseer to be my 40k single miniature.

My favourite... hmm, tough one. I think it'd have to be between my Avatar (which I finally fixed the other day), the Wraithseer or the Farseer... Avater because it was such a big job and he turned out so well. Wraithseer because it's a conversion on top of a solid paint job, and the Farseer just rocks and has some freehand on him too...
I'm going to go for the Farseer : )

tonight's progress - as ever, I always spot things I need to correct once I've taken the shot! At least I spot them lol
Robes and armour done pretty much, and weapons based and washed : )

(the shot's fairly dark looking at it now - the red is a fair bit stronger in the flesh... )

95000 views?! That's mind-blowing! : )
Thank you all for looking at my blog, and I hope you're enjoying what you read and see.

I did some work on Warlock 2 last night, and even though it felt like I was working on him for ages, I got remarkably little done. He's okay, but not great, but I'll see what he's like when everything's finished.
Army box has been dispatched, so more toy soldiers will be arriving soon! Yey!

Second Warlock finished. He's okay, but not great - I was rushing him towards the end and didn't really put as much attention into him as I did on the first 'lock.
As I said, the Army Box arrived today, and I've already started to put together the Autarch (and convert him slightly), so I'll put shots of him up when he's all together.

If you want to enter them as a squad, the game legal is Farseer and 3-10 Warlocks IIRC

thanks : )
I'm sort of tempted, but I do plan to do a different squad for the 40k squad category... plus I don't really think that the second Warlock is up to scratch. Maybe with some reworking... not sure.

Autarch in the army box? D:

What did you buy?

It's the limited edition army box, so yes, there was an Autarch in there. He's now got a fusion gun and I replaced the banner poles as I don't like the banners he comes with. I'll be using Wood Elf banners as the replacements. Slightly traumatic getting the arms stuck on (super glue is rubbish!), so he's being left to dry today.

A little bit of work done on Warlock 3 tonight, just his robes gone over with the first highlight of Scab Red... not too sure how they'll come out in the shot, I suspect a little dark [yeah, they are - you can just about see the highlight... you get the idea].
And: here's the Autarch : )
Banner poles aren't the strongest join in the world, so I anticipate transport issues, but I'll cross that bridge when I get to it. WElf banners aren't looking too bad, and certainly better than the stiff-as-a-board banners he had before. There's still a bit of cleaning up to do on him (I can see it a bit clearer now that he's undercoated, another reason I prefer to undercoat in white rather than black), but then it'll be onwards with the yellows : )
I'm thinking at the moment: yellow faceplate, topknot, cloak, sash and top banners. Dark red/Charadon for the rest. Not too sure about weapons as yet.

@DijnsK - thought I'd get to the blade tonight, but not quite there. Rather than just write up the recipe for the sword blades, I thought I'd take shots of what I do at each stage so that it makes more sense, so apologies for that, but I'll get it all up on here either tomorrow or Sunday.
All three of my entries for the GW Store painting competition have been packed up and are ready to go for tomorrow... and I'm strangely nervous about it, perhaps because of my experience with Golden Demon last year perhaps, not sure. The plan is to drop off the miniatures at the store first thing tomorrow morning and then go back for the judging/announcement at 1:30/2:00pm, so i'll let you know how I do! (part of me thinks that if I can't even place in a store competition, I don't have very much hope with Golden Demon...)

I don't think you've got anything to worry about unless there is some serious other talent at your local store =)

One thing with warlock number 2.... i think the robe highlights on his right knee could do with being a little brighter. If you look at your group pic, and compare him to the Farseer.... You could also paint the pouch on his belt orange. Maybe that would balance orange to black more with the other 2.

Also the eyes from warlock 1 and 2 are pretty drastically different. Not sure if this was the aim or not.

Are the bases finished? Are you going to add a bit more to them, or some pigments or such? For me they dont quite add up to the effort you have put into the actual models, which is ALOT. Not trying to pick holes... just sharing my view (which is aimed to be helpful) =D
