Well, this is hardly a battle report, more like the decription of a rape. A friend of mine wanted to play with two armies he had no expierience with whatsoever. I let him pick models he liked and wrote up a couple army lists to fit those models.

He took the tyranids, I took the Eldar.

 

By the third turn I had sucked a winged hive tyrant and two carnifex's into the warp with wraithguard and shot the heck out of spineguants with two quads of guardians.

 

This is the only game I have ever played where I have not had a single casualty. I think that if wraithguard are anything like they are now in the new Eldar codex, I will be glad I picked up 10 of them for VERY little money.

Why did he let wraithguard get within 12" of his carnifexes? Let alone his flying hive tyrant? The flyrant has the speed to choose his targets quite specifically.

It really sounds like he got in over his head while trying to learn - not exactly something I'd boast about.

wraithguard are a unit begginers find hard to deal with unless they get some lucky dice roles.
Wraith guard in 1000pts suck by the way if playing competively a lemon russ or a vindicator some flamers of teczeek would wreak you and some marines with good old meltas, plasmas and powerfists will all easily break you a 10 man unit can cost over 350pts

they don't do enough for points take dark reapers if you want something that will kill and earn it's points back

If that was his first time playing, you might want to go easy on him instead of winning with no casualties.

I'd hardly think 40k was fun/worth the investment if I got trounced that bad my first game.
