Legs look a little awkward in the main picture but the other view looks less odd. It's exactly what it says on the tin. It's a marine with jump pack and power sword.
GW making veterans with fixed weapons also in 11th. Not unexpected, but sad to get it confirmed. My greatest hope for 11th is that they at least bring back weapons profiles. Not much luck at that if they say you can keep your 10th ed codex, but then again nothing stopping GW from just lying about that.
It's not bad, it's just not really Veteran looking. I would expect a bit more baubles and markings.
I am secretly hoping they update the rules for Van Vets and kill my
least favorite unit I see bouncing across the table at me in 40k: the Ravenguard Van Vets with Inferno pistols.

The burning pits of Hades, also known as Sweden in summer
I converted a Primaris vanvet squad last year by combining the old box with some Black Templars, and this model definitely looks very flat in comparison to the old ones. Very little decoration and ornamentation.

Not all needs to be revolutionary, sometimes something nice and simple is all you need.
Have there been any units with flying stands recently? Or did GW realize what absolute garbage they are?
I’m not a huge fan of whole squads leaping off rocks, but it’s a much better option then those stupid stands.

I am not a fan of the one teeny tiny contact point of a toe touching a rock formation or a piece of debris.
The model talks to me and says, "Im going to break riiiiight here, 3 minutes before a game."

At least with the foot/rock they are either one solid piece, or at least socket together solidly. As opposed to the flight stands which rely on about one and a half square millimeters of contact and the thoughts and prayers that your glue holds.

My new tank has a flight stand and I'm a little worried about it too.

I've found pinning to be mandatory for a lot of sculpts like this. At least Marines are chunky enough that you don't need to worry about drilling up into a 3mm wide ankle.
It does seem like a continuation of the practice of making models that look awesome in promo pics, and look awesome as display models on a shelf, but aren't ideal for transport or play.

Land Speeder held up on smoke and swirly stuff confirmed!
Ashiraya wrote: I still think Drukhari Scourges are the best "flying" model poses GW has done and that no other unit has quite nailed it since.
Yes, they have just enough tactical rock to stand, but not enough to be distracting. Being proper slottabase models also helps. Bring back the slotta tabs, GW!

I did a set of 12 (inc Sang priest and banner) Blood Angel Vanguard Vets using the current Jump Assault Intercessors (my regulars are standard Assault Intercessors with old school jump packs) and my collection of bits (power swords, inferno pistols, for modeling rather than rules). Looks decent enough to fit in with what I did, but doesn't make me regret doing my own.
Lord Damocles wrote: Back in My Day, we didn't need our Veterans to be ridiculously encrusted in superfluous ornamentation.
Genuinely - when?
Because the 2004 Veterans were plenty shiny. And there wasn't really much in the way of veterans before then.
3rd Ed BA ‘Veteran Assault Marines’ were just Assault Marines with gold helmets, a couple of special weapons taken from Tac Squads and perhaps some Term Honours bits taken from other kits or some fancy shoulder pads.
Potentially this is what GW are aping here.

Time will tell.
That said, head swaps are probably the easiest conversion to do most of the time, and tossing a good number of spare heads onto sprues is something GW does regularly. While including some old mark helmets is happening, I doubt we’ve seen the end of the Mk. X tacticus helms.
Apparently TOs are being briefed on terrain changes so they can prepared for the new edition in advance.
There is quite some interesting info in there, feel free to click through the slideshow if you can't stand his voice. He is just reading them.

7 Ork facts people always get wrong: Ragnar did not win against Thrakka, but suffered two crushing defeats within a few days of each other. A lasgun is powerful enough to sever an ork's appendage or head in a single, well aimed shot. Orks meks have a better understanding of electrics and mechanics than most Tech Priests. Orks actually do not think that purple makes them harder to see. The joke was made canon by Alex Stewart's Caphias Cain books. Gharkull Blackfang did not even come close to killing the emperor. Orks can be corrupted by chaos, but few of them have any interest in what chaos offers. Orks do not have the power of believe.

Its not bad it just seems a bit pointless.
My thoughts exactly.
They wouldn't post the most bland model in the squad would they?

That’s normal for Assault Intercessors w/ jump packs.
Oh.
Marines are not my strongsuit.
