Denied! Since they're hurting in the don't look SciFi enough department...black will hopefully help. If they weren't half fantasy minis it wouldn't matter quite as much.

Hmm not sure I'll get these guys done this weekend or not. My brush is misbehaving a bit, doesn't like the raven black so much.

No point in beating my head against the wall though, we'll see what we see.

Woot! The wife got me a couple of infinity minis for father's day I'm not sure that it's entirely appropriate, me getting toys on the day celebrating me being a father... but I'll take it

Until they're out of their blisters and getting some paint we'll just go with the stock photos and descriptions, so I got this guy:

http://www.infinitythegame.com/infinity/en/2012/miniatures/moderators-from-bakunin-4/
Who will join my other three moderators, preferably covering them from on-high. Moderators are one of the weakest basic infantry in the game, with maybe 50% accuracy, not exactly the best place in the world to be spending points and gear on sniper rifles... I don't care though, they're comparatively cheap and when I'm running *just* Bakunin guys they can form up in a link team to boost their performance. One more to go and I'll have all of the moderators I care to own.

http://www.infinitythegame.com/infinity/en/2011/miniatures/moran-maasai-hunters/
This guy, I probably wouldn't have bought on my own, which is why he was on my miniature market wish list. He's a skirmisher, and can infiltrate up the field. He's got an ability/item that makes him a bit harder to shoot at for most models, and has his own personal mobile mini minefield in those crazy koalas. Definitely a cool model and I'm actually really itching to paint this one already, so some queue hopping may occur.

Speaking of the Moran, what do you guys think... match the color scheme since it works pretty well as is... or tamper with it a bit. Could switch that red into hazard orange, which is really more of a red-orange... The ribbed part on the side is grey for that model, I could switch it to the light-medium blue I used on my moderator. The default scheme isn't bad though huh?

Been kind of itching to paint another Infinity mini, so we might see one pop into the queue sooner than later!

LOL ! I got a box of Ork Lootas for Father's Day.

I'm partially color blind, so I'll stay out of color scheme debates

I think your post about considering asking for that necron/eldar looking terrain is what inspired me to make my miniature market wishlist available to the wife in the first place

Heh, I've got just a little bit of red/green, or is it the other way? I usually get into arguments about blue/purple type colors and swear I'm just naturally bad at spotting things in general.

Oh well, I get by

I got the Moran and his pet robo-bombs cleaned and assembled, they're currently drying on nails almost ready to be primed. Bet I'm out of white spray though....

Actually... wow... Krylon cans are some kind of superhero or something... You think they're down and out, but when you go to throw in the towel they've got one last heroic action to play. Moran and Crazy Koalas primed

Yup, Red/Green deficientcy. It's pretty common amongst men.

Yeah, we get it from our moms, even though they almost never get it. I'm only colorblind enough to fail the tests.

Like... apparently there's a faint brown boat in all that mess? Nope? Guess I'm colorblind

Took some new shots of my corporation guys, why not share them here too:

Corporation Marine green squad, one man MIA, the search continues...

Corporation Marine gold squad, veterans all, one man down and not pictured, needs some medical attention.

Ranger squad Zulu

Ranger squad Gamma, with improved visors.

Z-Corp Marines, staunch allies... just make sure you don't become part of their supply chain!

I've got as many z-corp as I do regular corporation guys, but I've got to transfer them over to clear acrylics still. And I really need to get my corporation commander guy painted up.

Oh man, those pics take me back when you were in your "Countdown until Deadzone!" moment. Good times

I say, if you already tampered a bit with the standard color scheme, maybe keep doing your modifcations to your next Infinity models? The model you painted was very cool looking:

Filthy lies, spread by Heretics !!

I once had a Patriotic Red, White, and Blue model I was quite proud of. My friends kept asking me what the Blue, White, and Orange was about.

Thanks guys. The Moran guy is actually from the corregedor subfaction, they use more red. But I think I have it figured out, looking forward to putting the paint down and showing him off!

I like my deadzone stuff, but I'm kind of hoping the Moran starts a chain reaction of Infinity minis getting painted

@AdamSouza, didn't see your post there. Hah, colorblinds unite!

I didn't feel like leaving my father's day culinary fate in the hands of anyone else, so while the wife and daughter were elsewhere I concocted myself a BURGERFEAST. Look at it, it all it's greasy glory... even the zombies are after it!

I was gonna airbrush the orange but it's kind of thick and I didn't feel like carefully thinning it down for the airbrush. And I think the airbrush needs a strip down and total clean before It's up for another session.

But seriously, this guy means serious business, just look at him:

Disclaimer: please for the love of GOD do not mistake this as some kind of ethnic slur, I really just found the model's extremely serious face to be amusing and paintbrush was already open for the crop.

I like the look of those burgers!

Infinity models look nice as well. Who says 40k has a monopoly on stupid-big guns? But yeah, burgers look better than the Masai guy.

I love the paintscheme on the burgers! The subtle highlighting on the tomato really brings out the depth of the meat.

You guys....

Almost as goofy as me!

That belly button does look high, I wonder if it's the angle of the picture.

Infinity is kind of weird like that. The anime aesthetic combines mostly true-scale with usually ridiculously sized weapons. To be fair, I think that combirifle is the same size for most/all nomads, so on the stockier guys it only looks sort of big. It's even worse on the female characters who are usually forced to maintain slender and or pin-up girl proportions.

Case in point:

The gun, and the way she's holding it... ridiculous

I almost got the Moran's orange basecoat done, needs another layer or two. I may try highlighting it with the ryza rust, may just mix something. It really isn't gonna take too long to paint him, hopefully he comes out as well as the moderator!

I've got 8-10 of those coming from bones 2. The regular rifle ones. May need a few of those heavies to round out the group. But yes, huge ass gun!

Yeah, the rifles aren't too OTT, but the big guns are. I may use some of my hasslefree guns or something, to help scale them down a bit.

I absolutely love the burger photo. It is as if those models were sculpted purely for that photo.....

I think in a sci-fi setting the less realism the better. I want my Orks to look out of proportion and bestial, I want my pin up girls to have impossibly large.....ahem weapons. I want to look at a model and think "that cannot ever work" I never, ever want to have to face reality when I am moving my little metal and plastic men around the table......

A my minor rant is over. Love the work GrimDork, keep it coming, such an inspiration to keep on painting.

Haha thanks . I like true scale stuff but I'm also a moderate anime fan so big weapons on infinity models don't bug me much.

Only the (color)blind can see the truth! Or something.

Since it was handy,

Not much done yet, just the orange on the Moran, gotta finish that for the koalas and keep trucking.

If there is no spoon then why does it bend? Seems easier to convince myself the spoon is made of rubber.
