About to eat your Avatar...

Awesome thread. I will begin a new eldar army pretty soon; call it a summer project. I'll be sure to drop some photos of my Wraithequin army. I have truly found inspiration throughout this entire thread. Thank you to everyone who has posted.

I have to say that is a beautiful conversion. Very suiting to a storm guardian. I love the buggers and plan on converting some of my own asap, in honor of your attention to detail. Finishing that left knee will make that conversion perfect. I like the yes I AM going to run if you let me... but not before really irritating you.

Great painting and photo as well.

Great idea. I think this embodies my vision of the eldar god of war more than any other avatar model I have seen. Very creative. Overall the paint could use a few more techniques. Why just steam a pot-sticker when you can fry it as well. The flames could use some more white highlights, toned into the oranges and reds with a subtle yellow (or blue if you have a very steady hand). The body is not so molten as befits the avatar, if you could mimic the texture from the G.W. or F.W. models (f.w. is better... ahem), the model would hold a more "molten" prescence; he looks yellow right now, he should be orange and black.

Oh right, blacks and grays are the key to "realistic" magma. Dry brushing your gray (w/ a hint of light-brown if you want to be fancy) onto a "magma" orange will give a fluid presence to the paint; A bubbling if you'd like. Adding a very light drybrush layer to your black "cool magma" lines with a sparkling red is the best way to pull the orange and black together. I find that red with a moderate hint of gold makes an amazing "charcoal" like heat to the model. Silver mixed with yellow (and a tiny drop of gold) then a dull red, will give you an adjustable "charcoal" heat. This is great for bringing a personal tone to your "magma".

A bit less necron would be nice, changing the drape things into a wraithlord-like banner would be relatively simple. There are bound to be a few guides somewhere in this forum for that type of custom banners.

Dammit, I never noticed I spelt it wrong. Never mind, easily fixed. Actually, I am surprised no-one has commented on the name on the first Predator looking like 'Anus'...it actually says Arius. Thanks for the heads-up anyway...glad you like the model more than my poor spelling.
