I've been looking for one for awhile now, and today think I found it, checking in with my local gaming store I came across a Winged Vampire Lord, he looks tall enough (I could be wrong), and I have the right size base, but I'm not sure if it would be legal?

It looks good to use it for a slaanesh themed army. But for legal purposes its more of negotiating with your opponent/judge.

That model would make a good winged Chaos Lord.
He's a little too small to be a dp in my opinion.

In terms of tournament legality, he is 100% GW, so he should be 100% legal.
For your opponents it should be obvious he is a special character, but as is always the case, it pays to make it clear that the model is a demon prince (or whatever).

I'm pretty sure that model is way too small to be a DP. I think the actual figure is about the same size as a regular 28mm model.

Ya, he may not be as wide as a DP, but if my calculations are correct (which it's probably not,) he is a little taller then a DP from the base to the tip of his wing.

However, you need to remember that wings etc don't count for LOS - it is just the torso and limbs.

isn't it true line of sight , the moment you see stuff you can shoot ?? , hate that rule aswell , i play with chaos marines who have converted poses... but if it is only torso and limbs , that would make me a happy man

Check page 16 of the rule book, 2nd paragraph in the right hand column. LOS does not count back packs, wings, weapons, etc. Only torso, head, legs and arms. It specifically mentions wings as not being part of the "body", thus you can't shoot at them if that is all you can see.

Actually, with that model it would be the right size if you said 'the wings count for LoS'. Seems a very quick and easy method. And given the way it comes off you can justifiably say it's part of the arm anyway.

I'd say its pretty close to a Tzeench daemon (prince.. maybe? but lord or sorc) just because of the colors and such.

Those models look amazing.

I (and most reasonable people) wouldn't mind you using the sweet Vampire model as a Daemon Prince.

So long as you gave us the benefit of the doubt when it came of LoS. And as long as you didn't exploit his smaller base size if you modeled it that way.

'Legality' is a loose term in Warhammer when it comes to modelling.
