Neil buddy I take it you need a break from computers after the massive hard work you did on telling the story. Your blog post http://opusmaius.blogspot.co.uk/ is truly awesome/epic and I am so glad you were there to photograph and then do the hard work of putting it all together. I owe you a few rums.

Can I just say you guys are mental those gangs are amazing and love the fact that oop models have been used.

You really have captured the essence of the good old days, I even felt like I was looking at the art work in WD as a kid so many good memory's came rushing back.

Thanks for sharing and Neil that's some pictures you took, I amazed you even got to game.

That ice station board is amazing, the attention to detail's my favorite bit, even before you added the ice and snow,
but with them you really get the abandoned ice station feel to this place, brilliant work.

Hello again folks ..

@ CC Cheers buddy , well in age terms i could be classified a classic so that's kinda appropriate

@ Rawson .. No probs mate look forward to seeing pics from gaming group in the future.

@ Ruglud love that guy , the james belushi of 40k bounty hunters could have done with some hired guns taking potshots at the underhive scum in the game we played

@Camkierhi Thanks matey.. my fave shot of them is this one of them coming face to face with PDH's scavvie ambush from Kari Hernesniemi's photos of the game we played..
Spoiler:
hope he doesn't mind me sharing that

@Migsula .. thanks mate loving your gaming table too .. it was fun researching Antarctic pictures for the build https://gimmebar.com/loves/neil101

@Strombones thanks the best part about gaming on it for the last inq28 event ( http://opusmaius.blogspot.co.uk/2013_06_01_archive.html ) was that the table was situated quite by chance under the air condition unit .. so that every time you moved your miniatures you got a chilly blast of air thanks to Keravin (http://s3.zetaboards.com/The_Ammobunker/topic/7499213/19/#new" target="_new" rel="nofollow"> http://s3.zetaboards.com/The_Ammobunker/topic/7499213/19/#new )for pointing that out first.

@LDD too kind as always mate .. thanks ..i would love to break down the processes properly , i did try and explain it earlier , but it takes so long to build these things i am far too tired to document them in the light they deserve when i am finished i just want to play video games watch films and read books then of course the next idea comes along and the previous ones are but history

@hk1x1 Thanks mate.. the bleak back board in some of the pics really helps capture that remote feeling i think.

@ Moltar My pleasure buddy .. such a privilege to share the game with folks its worth effort .

@LDD qoute " Thanks for sharing and Neil that's some pictures you took, I amazed you even got to game." Your welcome buddy , like i said above the pleasure is mine .. i have waited twenty years to find my gaming group , now i have i want to make the best of it . of course without the others it would just be pics of my gang so credit to all involved..

@ PDH Cheers mate, yeah i needed a break and to refocus a bit .. i will take them rums in November glad you liked it too. its probably.y a bit wordier than necessary

So as PDH mentioned i blogged the Necromund / Confromunda game a few weeks back , its on opus for those that are interested

http://opusmaius.blogspot.co.uk/

Soo .. i needed a bit of break form the hobby .. which was granted via GTAV but i am back in the saddle again now.. For the past few weeks i have been kit bashing models and experimenting a bit .. no paint work since the teks

I thought i would share the wips of the models i have been knocking around.. just ideas really for fun some are for yggdrassillium campaign and the ash waste gangers were for the necromunda game .. but mostly for fun..

I also have a few more pics to upload of the stuff i am currently working on..

regards

You never cease to amaze me mate truly, you take the strangest of things combined them and somehow it works

I love the shields for the hats that such a cool idea and works, they do have that real sense of nomads wandering the barren lands I cant wait to see them finished.

Very nice I like how surreal many of them look.

Great stuff my favourite is the Slaaneshi duellist it just looks right.

"But me no buts! Our comrades get hurt. Our friends die. Falkenburg is a knight who swore an oath to serve the church and to defend the weak. He'd be the first to tell you to stop puling and start planning. Because what we are doing-at risk to ourselves-is what we have sworn to do. The West relies on us. It is a risk we take with pride. It is an oath we honour. Even when some soft southern burgher mutters about us, we know the reason he sleeps soft and comfortable, why his wife is able to complain about the price of cabbages as her most serious problem and why his children dare to throw dung and yell "Knot" when we pass. It's because we are what we are. For all our faults we stand for law and light.

Awesome stuff, Neil!

Those ash wasters remind me a little of Desert Punk, with those hats.

Spoiler:

I've been dying to use those FW renegade militia for an ash waste style gang, although way back when I had plans for a super gothic delaque gang using them too. I just love the sculpts, and one day I hope I'll actually get around to making a gang using those bits. They work wonderfully with the DV cultist legs.

The Confrontation game you guys did looked absolutely fantastic, by the way. I had to have poured over the photos on your blog a dozen times since you posted them!

You can never beat your first time. The second generation is shinier, stronger, faster and superior in every regard save one, and it's an unfair criticism to level, but it simply can't be as original. - Andy Chambers, on the evolution of Games Workshop games

Agreed, I noticed that they actually mentioned the use of the boards for 40k skirmish games in the article. I still think that GW has a game up their sleeve for us, hopefully inspired by your work and everyone else that keeps INQ28 alive.

Aye up folks

Just finished a new Inquisitor Vendrake retinue build and thought i would share my wips with folk.. the group is ready for paint now and i am thinking a more Gothic unified darker tone than my previous retinue.

The group will be used for an upcoming Skirmish game using the Necromunda rule set ( -][-Munda ) as opposed to INQ28 - this slight ruleset change will allow for a more martial Inquisitor Vendrake than his previous inq28 investigative role. This also ties in quite well to his new unforgiving warmongering role after very nearly kicking the bucket in his last outing.

@nathanie1 Cheers .. i do like cyber things .. i blame monkeytroll fro that though..( whats that monkey .. no! you cant use the internet.. get back down in the galley )

@lone dirty dog Thanks mate , i never really considered painting these after i made the teks , but the nomads would probably be fun to paint actually ..

@OneManNoodles yeah i have been playing zeno clash actually but thats not where i got the idea from though.. i actually stole it from mad max 3 , their is a water seller merchant guy wearing one in the opening scenes..

@ Baiyuan

@Camkierhi Cheers

@Llamahead the image is from the original confrontation rules .. a psyker clan called the immortals i think

@weetyskemian44 yeah the undead rotten shields are cool. i think the look like raiden form mortal combat

@GiraffeX yeah its common trope i have seen it used in a fair few postapoc style films .. but specifically mad max 3

@Camkierh " Warroirs Way" not seen that one

@Starfarer that is spooky mate .. i am going to have to google that now

@Moltar thanks buddy

@Commander Cain .. yeah me too its still WIP but i am looking forward to painting it up .. its a gift for a friend

@ephrael cheers bud pm sent but for everyone else its the deldar beastmaster

@livanbard Wow very flattered mate .. i do like having this blog as a repository for all the stuff over the past three years.. I have been in a bit of a hobby slump the past week but getting back to normal now..

@PDH qoute " Nice to see the Ygg and Ice Station boards in Blanchitsu matey! " Now that i should sig cheers buddy.

i think it might be a bit of urban myth now that that Iquisitor Codex has come out but i will be keeping my fingers crossed a little longer.. on a personal note i am happy to see the new crackle paints

@nathanie1 " Congratulations on the white dwarf article Neil!" Thanks mate .. I still cant believe it tbh such a privilege

it is really good to see your work here again more frequently...

your thread currently could be summed up with: take the most expensive models, convert the hell out of them and make them look like the best scifi and fantasy movie directors should be taking notes for their next works...

the recent update of yours reminded my somehow of a strange mortal combat vibe...

whereas the new updates theme is indeed way darker and more grim...that horse especially...
which also leads me to the statement that you have quite upped the game with your GS skills...

the only mini i am currently a bit cofused about is the one with the big barrel instead of an arm... i think it is not finished yet?

also...what i have for sooo long unconsciously missed (my own fault...) is your very exquisitve way of making groupshots... dramatic and old school scifi shots ... the angles of the pics raise the importance of the characters as the models befits...

cheers mate!

Now I know why you stole all the flour and sugar from the cupboard Beautiful work on Thule Station mate, very atmospheric as to be expected from one of your boards

Loving those cyber-shogun gangers, absolutey fantastic builds.

And the latest buch are nice and gothic, especially like the Inquisitional holding post, lovely stuff.

Great stuff again. I did like the v2 of Vendrake as well though, was it not a big enough change? I can't help but notice that the Termivendrake is no longer using a walking stick, maybe that was all a bluff to appear more frail than he really is! Inquisitors are so tricksy.

The death cult assassin looks much better as a sign post. Not completely sold on the head but only because I can't make it out. A bowed head would look very cool though.

Zombie horse looks interesting, maybe the neck is a bit short.

OMFG - The Bromholme terrain is looking OTT. You have captured the art work perfectly. Looking forward to seeing it at the beginning of next month. I'll try not to get a hangover but I guess that depends on how much of a bad influence Vader is.

The Arco conversion and mercenary captain are fantastic. The priests mitre is such a clever conversion.
