Does anyone know the fluff on these things. I have seen them mentioned the Space Wolfs codex and a few other places, but nothing about what they actually are.
I am assuming moon sized or larger creatures that float around randomly eating ships?

Wasnt there a description in a WD a long time ago when WD was worth reading that theorized about the origins of Tyranids?
IIRC when one of the void whales came close to the original tyranid home world it was taken control thus creating the first hiveship.
I dont know if this was from a WD or not i think it is though so ........yeah....

Void Whales must be pretty rare- because of their size and potential, you'd think you'd hear more about them. There was something in the SW codex about a diseased one that was a host to other organisms- like a living planet!
GW could use that for another army, organisms of the viod whales. Who knows, could be interesting!

This is something talked about in the 'last race standing' thread, but the sheer size of the galaxy means things like Void Whales could exist and be very easily bypassed by the majority of fleets. The galaxy is comprised of billions of stars, each with their own solar system. While GW likes to give maps showing how widespread each race is, they're pretty obviously exaggerated.

The Void Whale that ate the ork fleet was described as being 'errant' implying that Void Whales are usually only found in certain areas, hence why you don't hear very much about them. Not necessarily because they are rare, just because people have figured out to stay the hell away from Void Whale habitats.

What the heck was that for? That has to be the rudest most unprovoked attack ive ever seen on these forum. you made made me :-( well what ever like pacific said if you knew what WD was like before issue around 300 you would know what I mean.
Ohh god i shouldnt of replied now hes probably gonna reply with the classic list of credentials like "ohh ive read WD since I was in the womb"...Welll anywayssss about void whales
seems like a perfect beast for tyranids to try to eat and assimilate into the swarm because they do seem much larger than a hive ship

IIRC, they appear in the following:
- SW codex, a diseased one drops out of Warp,in their famous conquests section
-Ork Codex, Kaptin Badrukk kills one, apparently
-An errant one eats a few Killkroozers in the 40k rulebook
That's about it, from memory. Would assume they would act like normal whales, just they live in the Warp and can survive in a void

Funny thing to do on L4D [if you own the server] Bind the tank music to a key, then at quiet moments press it and start firing like mad at something behind your team whilst screaming 'tank' on voice comms. |
