Turns out I have access to a car this weekend so can meetup anywhere. Anyone want to schedule a game for this Saturday?

Or will there be enough people at Legends that scheduling a game isn't necessary, one can just show up?

I'm still up for playing tomorrow, wanna tentatively plan it and if there are other people there we can adjust?

Ahh sadly it's mothers day on sunday so I won't be able to game that day. I'll redo my list with all upgrades see if it changes at all, though i feel like 7k would be stretching it for me.

Played with Rythem and AmazingSandwich today, was awesome to meet you guys! We should play again sometime.

Also, would anyone be in to create and/or participate in a campaign? We could create our own fluff, maybe some interesting terrain pieces for objectives, and play games based on the campaign. Could organize it through dakka and play at Legends. Results of games could be posted to dakka and it would effect the campaign. Wouldn't be too hard to whip up some fluff and there's probably tons of campaign materials we can grab off the internet.

Yeah was a great game today, and it was actually 7400 pt game, 3700 pt per side . Good to see my FT finally win a apoc game, though with the casualties on both sides being so high I would of been happy with either outcome.

Yeah it was a strong list for those two armies. Outside of my nob bikers I was effectively neutralized from that heavy armor. Ghaz would have done much better than zagstruk in that sense... fething zagstruk.

SM Vanilla captains are actually pretty good for their point cost, plus they come with a pretty big list of items you can equip them with making them very versatile. Vulcan technically doesn't have a "place" in a chapter hierarchy, he runs around the galaxy looking for relics left behind by their primarch, though he can recruit any salamanders in the area to help him complete his mission. Kor'sarro Khan is the white scars version of a captain though he usually only shows up in bike armies since his rules interact well with a bike squad. Best option for deciding on your HQ is mapping out what type of army you want to field. The SM vanilla codex is loaded up with enough options where you can field any type of army and be pretty effective on the table.

The best thing about a Captain is that when you put one on a bike, he unlocks Bikes as Troops, which can add a lot of versatility to your army. Also, the T5 and mobility is really good.

Of all the special characters, Vulkan tends to be really popular as his gear makes him very tough and very hitty, but most importantly he can greatly increase the damage output of your army (if you have lots of flamers and meltas.) Also, Vulkan armies tend to lend themselves very well to Drop Pods, which get around the ubiquitous Aegis Defense Line.

If you're just looking for a beastly close combat hero, I'd recommend Lysander, again, best deployed by Drop Pod so that he gets into combat ASAP.

Thanks guys, I'll stick with the Vulkan list you gave me Rythem and work from there then. I like the idea of Pedro but not the idea of blowing 300-400 on sternguard to make that list. I suppose ill run Vulkan and termie librarian as HQ options to give some versatility. This, as always, as a back project compared to the orks of course.

We could also do proxy games, I could give you some of my FT's to play with and you could test out a bunch of different units and lists to see what you like playing. I'm all about proxy games before spending the cash.

Just bought Vulkan online, was going to grab thunderfire's too (due to availability issues in stores).. but damn... 70 bucks for basically a cannon unit before taxes?

Lol ya, you get a cannon and a techmarine, the prices have gone pretty crazy since the last time I bought one. Luckily you really can't go wrong with vulkan as long as you field units that make good use of his chapter tactics rule. Fun thing with the techmarine from the TFC kit is that it can bolster ruins making them a 3+ cover save for the cannon and himself while in it, 2+ armour and 3+ cover can be rough to get by.

We tried a while ago to start a leauge at Ledgends but didn't have enough interest. I'd be more than willing to organize something but it would have to wait untill after the summer, too many tourney's to get ready for

My brother and I did a "mini" campaign continueing the storyline of a 2 on 2 we played. We'd talked about the details of turning it into an ongoing campaign with as many people as wants in. If there's a bunch of people who are interested I'm more than happy to write up a fluff and proposed "rules"/details. All I'd need is a list of people interested and the army/faction they'd be primarily using.

I'm up for that, I'll probably be using my eldar, new codex out in a couple weeks plus they are the army i'm building/painting right now. Unless of course we go big point levels again in which case I'd bring out the FT's again.
