Minecraft 1.4 comes out tomorrow. As usual I'll check on the intertubes for any problems other servers are having and test it myself too. Once I've found it to be stable enough, I'll upgrade the Dakka survival server. They usually have a stable version by the weekend (although 1.3's portal issues did take a bit longer to fix).
If you want to play on the Dakka survival server in the meantime, don't upgrade to 1.4 until the server does too.  Automatically Appended Next Post: UPDATE:
If anyone wants to try out the 1.4.1 pre-release AND help me test it at the same time, if have set up a temporary 1.4.1 pre-release test server on:
www.darkinnit.com:25575
(you need to type the :25575 after the address).
You'll need to install the pre-release to join, download it from here:
http://mojang.com/2012/10/minecraft-1-4-1-pre-release/
I can't test it till this evening, but it's up and running now if anyone wants to join, mess about and report any crashes or other problems. Same Dakka whitelist.
It's running the Dakka world for testing, but any changes you make won't affect the normal Dakka Minecraft server and won't be saved when I discontinue it later. Automatically Appended Next Post: UPDATE:
