Also i know i've been away for a while but who the hell planted all of the poppies in my village? i know i have a lot but really?... gonna take me ages to clean up...

Maybe ill use them to make an opium farm and move all my potion production to there...

Why do you wanna do that? You could just get a bucket of water and you could clear the area.

I mean it is interesting and thats what I did. But lets face it community events are fun when we come together. Its just most of those dates I am offline for..
I mean it would be cool if we all did events together as a server, so we can spark more interest in the game.

Why because Its kind of wasteful. I mean I can give people fortune 3 stuff. Its just playing survival in my own way. I suggest it. But it doesn't mean you have to follow it. I save everything I find with silk touch and keep a storage of it with my fortune 3 picks.

Also argue about the argument not the arguer.

Plus if we generate alot of the terrain we have to travel further out and put more taxiation on the server and its files. I don't want to travel 9k blocks out to find a certain type of material. Is that what you want to do to the whole server?

We did that on the last server and it was just getting tedious to find anything from the new updates.

Not to mention, because worldgen is more 'smooth' between updates now, it's harder to find newly updated chunks that would have, say, the new stones.

The Quartz thing is because the new stones can be created with Quartz, but it's rather expensive when quartz normally just drops one to an ore, and you're mining in the Nether. But Quartz also generates all throughout the Nether, not just on the surface. So if people started strip-mining there, they might be able to get a lot more quartz from a much smaller area. Just have some Fire Resist potions in case you fall in lava.

GENERATION 8: The first time you see this, copy and paste it into your sig and add 1 to the number after generation. Consider it a social experiment.

Oh, I know why you wanted that already. Because you want blocks that look like fancy polished gravel and you don't want people using Quartz to mass produce it because of the difficulty of hunting down untouched lands.

Well quartz is more really expensive its three quartz to get one andesite, two for diorte. So if you had a stack you only get a stack of. Quartz has three uses for quartz blocks (which look pretty), for the daylight sensor (Which is very useful) and for the new stone types (which is a pain), getting our hands on quartz is fairly difficult because we have to stripmine. Which I have been doing in my area, I've found it more efficient to grab the ore with a silk touch pick and run back home and fortune three the item as it also saves space and allows me to have emergency supplies and it is also easier to store.

Plus generating new terrain also slows down the entire server. Which I really don't want to have a mass amount of terrain generated. We have to act as a community. Plus Dark could put up a barrier so that we cannot leave all the generated terrain and leave large part of the world unable to explored.

Funny, I was thinking of saying Asherian sounded like you, but thought I shouldn't. Because he says I attacked him.

Now my brain is telling me not to post this because nothing good will come of it. Unless me getting in trouble is a good potential.
Brain also says to put an orkmoticon on the end to help diffuse any maliciousness.
I should probably listen to my brain more.

Mate you can disagree with me. But I only look to help the server and allow others to have a chance to get the fancy new stuff. Because I remembered that someone had mined in a straight line and had mined straight into other peoples areas and was only look for diamonds and gold.

You may live near the edge of the map we can see, but doesn't mean people haven't explored beyond the edge of it, it's just that the map doesn't generate beyond about 4000 blocks out. When the player markers showed up on the map a while back there were people further out than you or I to the West, so we might find many pre-generated chunks out that way when the next update comes

seriously more interested in who planted the flowers if i am honest... but yeah i know of at least two further places beyond me that i have had a look at. so we would have to go a fair way out but nothing insane though i hear that helps

besides updating Java, you might try reducing the render distance.

Ive done both... got 64bit latest Java, and get it even when I set it to lowest render distance, Ironicly I get no lag when I go on my freinds server, but everyone else does.

why did you have to make everything a server Mojang

Anyone want to share any ideas about how to use diorite? I've been failing to find a good match with the stone types.

One of the reasons I think mining instead of crafting the stones will be important- I think they're best suited for being primary building blocks- basically as potential replacements for stone bricks or smoothstone, just with a little more color and texture.

Things like statues or monuments, or any situation where you'd use stone or want a 'variant' stone.

I'm probably going to be trying to use Diorite or Polished Diorite as the level of my walls below the planned ice spire that will be on top- it's still "Stone", but it's white, without being too white, to sort of look like frost.

Agreed. I want alot of andensite and the granite to mix up my builds and make them look more fluid.

The Granite, I think, would look especially nice in Mesa biomes.

Speaking of building material. I need like a bajillion stacks of sand/sandstone.

I'm willing to pay in other material. Might take a day or so to get stuff worth trading.

I've got a village made from Sandstone. I want to replace the walls with NetherBrick. If you bring enough to replace the walls 1:1, you can take the Sandstone.

Aye, I see myself using Andestite a lot in the future if I can get my blocky hands on enough of it, the polished version will look better in a checkerboard pattern with stone bricks than actual stone does.
And I love me some stone brick involving checkerboard patterns!

If this is your place:
http://www.darkinnit.com/newdakkamap/#/498/64/410/-2/0/0
I could level the area and give you the sand if you don't need the hills being so tall. I hang around the spawn anyway. But you'd probably want to keep the natural landscape.

Speaking of natural beauty. Does anyone care if I start tearing up chunks of the nether? Just Netherrack, won't touch any brick, cobble and such. No one cares how much of that stuff I mine or where I mine it, right?

I am planning on keeping on at least half the natural height of the hills so I can organically flow the walls over them. So you could half-level it if you want

By and large I don't see people complaining too much about the Nether being mined. The only thing to be careful of is mining near other peoples portals, not because you'd break them (as you already stated) but because the Nether is obviously a public resource. Whilst mining around your own portal is fine, as is mining out isolated areas that don't have anyone near them, mining near where other people use the Nether might cause problems if other people want to mine there.

The policy I go by (and this is just me) is to try and give a berth of about 15-20 blocks minimum between my Nether mining operations and any other known portals in the area. Plus I only hollow out the area, rather than completely destroying the nether. That way I don't leave other people bereft of resources or ruin the 'natural beauty' of the area
