Any chance on getting my player data rewound? To about 10:30 PM EST?

Sorry for the delay. Wasn't sure if you'd logged in and played since then, so I've put your stuff in a chest next to your playerskull.

As for the other stuff above, I'd take any news reports with a pinch of salt until they're officially confirmed by either company. You only have to look back a week or two to the supposedly "complete" Google-Twitch deal that was never confirmed (but reported as done and dusted by many news sources). That turned out to fall through and Amazon bought them instead.

The entire Mojang staff have gone almost complete radio silence since the rumour was announced, so it's almost certain that something is going down and they're not allowed to talk about it. However, if they are up for sale there's surely more than just one bidder involved.

We'll just have to wait and see what comes of it.

Blizzard has been known to massive fans of Mojang.

I know you don't allow people the seed because they might use it to cheat and use creative mode to find diamonds in a world with the same seed.

But I was wondering if I could get the world (or the old one) to play pixelmon. I'd really like to play pixelmon in the Dakka world. NOt asking to add the mod to the world. But asking for the world to use privately. I'll entirely understand if you say no Darkinnit. Just thought I'd ask

I can PM you a link for the first and second dakka worlds when I get a chance to dig out the correct files.

As for the current world (we're currently on the third), it's a no, sorry.

Okay! That's fine. I just though it'd be interesting. And if I had gotten the 3rd world I coulda used the map to find Biomes for certain Pixelmon. Thank you!

I am confident Microsoft, they usually do not interfer with small companies.

There is a movement currently in the industry to buy indie companies and give them funding, mostly because they might make another game that sells really well. And microsoft probably wants to cash in on that.

In all honesty, no reason to go all 'DOOM! THE END IS NIGH!' like the rest of the internet. Notch hasn't been involved with Minecraft for quite a while, and Mojang will almost certainly be allowed to continue as they were.

I should have said RIP as we know it. Rare was reduced to a shell, Bungie moved from PC to console, Lionhead axed or shelved loads of interesting projects including black and white. I find it hard to imagine that xbox 360 / xbone wont now be the focus of new features instead of the PC moving forwards, and we'll see a migration of efforts away from Linux and Java. Chunks of the community will lose interest because it is no longer a 'cool' studio in charge. As MS game studios has to shore up a bad quarter I would not be surprised to see things move even more to a subscription based/multiplayer model as well to the detriment of private servers like Dakka/darkinnit and flexibility in general.

I can see Microsoft putting out a dedicated/branded 'surface' type tablet just for playing minecraft though, which would be cool except it will get butchered by linking in to some half-baked cloud MMORPG service that wont be implemented properly and will have some obvious oversights.

Thats kind of scary. And if so that will be a sad day.

But I predict a minecraft clone called minecraft 2.

Instead of minecraft continuing on and becoming versions it will be updates you will have to buy :/

I don't really think so.

If Microsoft has any sense, they'll let Mojang go on as they are. The Console versions are made by a different team.

So in the end, it is about the money after all...

Also, I hear that Notch is leaving Mojang after the deal is finalised.

While I have my own reservations about this deal, I don't think Microsoft will risk flushing $2.5 billion down the toilet by restricting things so quickly. If they have any sense they'll let things continue as they are at least for some time. However, that said, it will take a light hand to keep things going smoothly and Microsoft have a lot of shareholders who will want things change eventually to bring in more cash. One change I fear would be them restricting multiplayer to only Minecraft Realms servers (or at the very least bringing in "exclusive" first month access for new updates to Realms).

There's already been quite a few knee jerk departures already in the modding community, from people who just outright refuse to support Microsoft. LegoBurner, you also know me and my refusal to buy an XBox for similar reasons. However, I'll continue to run the servers for as long as I am unhindered by either actual software restrictions or my own moral feelings about any attempts at monetisation.

Modders leaving because Microsoft bought the game?

I can seriously only laugh at that. There's nothing wrong with Microsoft. Phil Spencer already explained what they're planning to do: change virtually nothing. But "oh noes, ebul M$ code will never touch muh pc, I'll Skype my friends to comvince them to do the same!"

It's less about not wanting a Microsoft product on their computer and more about not wanting to be working for free to indirectly help Microsoft earn more money.

Since "that PR crap" is the most sensible business decision; yes.

And what's the difference between helping a big company with a lot of employees make money, and helping some Scandinavian guy make money?
I know who has given the most money to charity, and helps the most people get a job and a meansof supporting their families (it's not Notch).

Also microsoft is not EA.

They actually make very good decisions. Especially when it comes to extremely successful indie companies. They know not to mess.
