And the Great East Nether Trunk Tunnel is officially DONE! Celebrate, everyone!

Gimme another day or two to figure it out. I'll need to be doing some math for that.
Thing is, I think Chasmholm extends further East than the Mesa does (or any of the other potential stops along the Eastern Route), and definitely further underground. You can pretty much see the extent of the Mesa from the map.
Actually, looking at the map, unless Chasmholm is a TON further East extending underground from what you can see, the Mesa seems to be furthest. Maybe around the 3500-3600X coords? Take a look at any ravines that you have out that way and see if any of them strike your fancy as places to build the route- of course, the stations can be completely different if we really want, I suppose.

Not yet, the old South bridge still exists, though, it's left of the new tunnel. Your place is the one that's about Z:300 in the Nether?. Your house seems pretty messy. Aside from your Overworld Bridge, the place looks like it needs alot of work. How long has it been since you've played on the Vanilla server?

That is doable. It won't quite go to Chasmholm, but it will go to my Desert Temple, and Thingwall, and Sacred Mountain -- and it'll give me the impetus to finish my underground tunnel from Chasmholm to the Desert Temple, as that will then connect up to the main line.
Anywhere between 3500 and 3600 will intersect with one of the big chasms that's under the village by Sacred Mountain. I guess bang on 3500 for the centre of the rail would suit me best.

Found the dig site! Did a bit of digging down there and I'll try to head back and get some more done soon.

Last year...
I need to do more. My house actually shouldn't be that messy, though-- it's pretty decently organized, so I wonder what exactly is "messy" about it?

Alright, so I was excavating the Mesa's basement (where the portal comes out) and I come across a lava pool. No biggy, just mining around it. But out of nowhere, something comes and knocks me in.
Could someone maybe come and get rid of the lava for me? Maybe make a ton of buckets and scoop it all out (it's a small pool)?
If you go through the Nether, you'll come out in my basement. There will be a staircase in one of the corners. If you go up that, one of the nearby columns will have the lava pool basically underneath/inside it.
I'll be logged off for the rest of the night and probably most of tomorrow. If you do get rid of the lava (because I logged off before I burned,) message on here to let me know, mmkay?
I'd super appreciate it. I've got my iron silk-touch pick on me, and would rather not lose it. I'll pay with iron ore, if you like, or coal ore. Or slime, maybe.

Alright Anvil, I walked out the portal, climbed the stairs to the left, standing at the top I walked a bit to the right and found an inescapable pool of lava. I've bucketed it.
If it's not the right pool, well, I've left a Silk Touch pick in a chest next to your portal. I hope that's the only thing you might lose to the burn.

Well, mainly the exposed redstone wiring in a few rooms. I'm used to all that being hidden.

I'm afraid there was a slight industrial accident in the sea-mine earlier. Your employee, let's call him "Bob" may be a bit smaller now than he was when you last saw him. I'm sure he'll be fine.
(Really sorry, I didn't see the minecart or the nametag until after I'd dropped him to a two-block size)

Some of that's purely decorative, such as in the furnace room.

Hrm. That could be tricky for a portal that wide. You could potentially do a Portcullis-style gate with slime blocks, I imagine. I wish they weren't limited to 12, though.

it's ok, even with being limited to 12, how about a 50x50 door
For the moment I'm just tunnelling south in a 2-high, 1-wide kind of way. Figure we can go back through and clear out the walls and ceiling over that pretty easily after. See you at the other end, or halfway, maybe.
Looking at that route, our only issue before getting as far south as the Mesa is that we'll need permission from Stormwarrior, unless we want to go around, as the present planned route goes under some of his claimed territory. This might be OK -- he might welcome a rail station -- but we should check with him next time one of us sees him online.

If he's not keen (and I understand from previous posts that he has done a fair bit of building underground) then his territory runs fairly close to mine and I would certainly welcome a rail station ... plus there's quite a bit of tunnel already done.
