So, I just got finished installing about a bajillion hoppers- burned through half of my stored iron blocks, and 3 trips to Ralphy's tree farm. But just about a full quarter of my inner courtyard is now set up as an ice farm. Getting so close to the point where I can start on the ice spire topper of the Mesa. It won't be much of a Mesa at that point, though. I really have no idea what I should call it otherwise, though.

Want a load of Unbreaking III, Efficiency III, Silk Touch Diamond pickaxes for the ice? Efficiency III is enough to instantly mine them and you can buy them at SirRalphy's tower. I can give you 3 stacks of emeralds to buy 14 pickaxes (unless you spend emeralds reseting the villager) which is enough to fill about 21 double chests with ice. Then if you break all of those pickaxes I'll give you 3 more stacks of emeralds and so on. I'll even give you a couple stacks of Coal Blocks to trade with the villager to reset it when it locks up if you need it, though you could bring some iron from the farm to help with resets.
For free, I want to see this finished.
I'd get them for you but I'm in the middle of no where exploring, you'll have to get my emeralds at spawn.
I'll hit you up when I need it, and I probably will need it eventually.
Emeralds aren't a super big concern- will be even less if we upgrade the spawn farms a little. I've had a ton of luck selling melons and pumpkins to the two farmers to reset their trades if necessary, and my chicken farm is actually working out pretty well- I'm approaching a stack of blocks.
I've already got a chest and a half of ice blocks, and with the number of diamond picks I've been wearing out, I have plenty of repair material- that along with a couple of silk-touch books will keep me in picks for a while yet.
I'm actually getting really, really close to finishing the stonework of the tower- what I'd actually really like now would be a ton of the new white stone, rough, so I can make the top tier out of that to have a better transition to the spire.

Yeah, the white rather than the grey. Our tunnel isn't going through any new chunks, so I've got, like, 5 blocks of it so far.
And I don't mine till breaking- I'm saving up for an Eff V mining pick right now, since I've been the Spawn Smith's best customer- the guy who sells Eff III Unb III diamond picks for 12. I've also bought about a dozen Eff II shovels off him to reset his trades so far. Gone though, oh, 4 or 5 diamond picks (down to red or less, without breaking) in the past week or so.
The ice blocks are for a spire topping the Mesa. Got a design in a creative world that looks really, really cool. Things gonna be going right up to the sky limit, I think. I'll build the walls up to a good height as well, then top them with icy battlements, and maybe do a criss-cross of flying buttresses over the courtyards, which I'll fill in with snow and ice, sculpting them into frozen gardens. This is all while I'm mining out underneath for my massive storage area, and I"ll be making my underground village ring above that. Then there's the tunnel to the railway station, the station itself, the Great Tunnel going up to Chasmholm et. al., I'm probably going to work on some sort of massive highway after that, going to the nearby fortresses and player homes, maybe figure out some sort of gatehouse setup on my walls... I might even raid another ice-spikes biome for materials to terraform all the terrain around me into ice-spikes. Hrm... Spires of ice jutting out from the base of the Mesa's walls would look cool... Then of course there's the 'natural' caverns and grottoes I want to build underneath my basement, maybe with some sort of underground stream system- probably make a cavernous mycellium mushroom forest down there further out, and maybe even create a 'test your skill' labyrinth out of obsidian waaaayy down at bedrock level, with treasures in the middle.
And that's not even thinking about the Nether side of things, or farms and automation of resource systems.

I've got a couple double chests of Diorite at my place. But you probably plan to use a dozen double chests. Well, you can have one double chest and if I like what you make with it you can have the other.
My base is in South Tunnel, a long way in. When you get to the end of south tunnel you have to make a person sized hole in the end wall to get through it and travel a few hundred blocks more to my place which is currently just storage chests and a quarry below. The diorite chest is labeled so it'll be easy to find. You could also mine some of the exposed diorite in the quarry below, you can see lots of it from the platform.
Though it seems every time I suggest to someone that they get stuff from there, they refuse the offer. The only people who thought it was worth the effort were the ones I paid with a Complete Emerald Beacon Pyramid.
Your place is directly in line with the tunnel? I'll come by, then, in a bit.
I probably won't use as much as you'd think, a double chest might cover it- I fill the centers of the columns I make with cobblestone, so there's that, and the top level that I'm cladding in Diorite is going to be hollow, rather than fully filled in with galleries like the other levels are so far. I might even use diamond ore for decoration up there. I'd also be glad to mine to replace what I use, too.
Thanks again for the support and the kind words. Hopefully this spire will look awesome both in person and on the map, in the end.

That might be nice, though I wouldn't know how you'd do it. What with the redstone torches that power the lanterns, needing to be big enough for a horse and the slab height. The whole redstone machinery thing is all arcane to me so I have no clue if it'll be easy or annoying to do for someone who knows what they're doing.
But I'm fine just breaking a hole in the wall every time. I don't make many trips between areas and the false wall is meant to deter people so they don't waste their time exploring when there's nothing on the other side. If I ever finish something on the other side of the wall I'll tear the false end down.
The false wall is at 6000 on the overworld so most expansive builders and such won't need to worry about it, I hope.
Say Ian, got any plans to rebuild the Great North Tunnel? It used to be the greatest tunnel by far but now all others have been done up so well. Plus there's that kink early on. Given it any thought? I'd be glad to help.

Gotta thank you for use of your Diorite, Lotet. Went through about a chest, but part of that was stuff I mined from the quarry myself. I'll buy you a diamond pick to repay you, shall I?
Also, the Mesa is looking glorious because of it. Gonna be able to start of the spire pretty soon-ish.

No payment required, the Diorite is just a result of me paying the Dutch to dig the quarry for stone, not something I was looking for or intend to use.
Also, you fine with me using the Ice generator thingy? Anything I need to know about it?. I may eventually have need for a lot of ice to help me make a lake since I like to make water features layer by layer so there's no drag down from missing water blocks below.

You're perfectly welcome to it. Just make sure you break all the ice blocks, including the ones at the edge- it 'repopulates' from the edges, and doesn't work without those as water sources. It also takes a while for everything to filter through, but that shouldn't be too big an issue.

If me being annoyed means you're being rude, then yes, it would be rude. Let people explore without you systematically removing the rewards of exploration.

well unfortunately the wings and the light sticks don't seem to be craftable, so a few of the end dungeons are going to have to be ripped down. The end is now a infinite dimension, so if you look around long enough you should find some. I was playing around on the snapshot last night, and after going 10km in a straight line I came across 3 boats. As these are probably the funnest things ever put in (see video) but they can only be repaired so many times like other armor, then become unrepairable. so you end up with a very rare item with very limited uses. For everyone like bbrotherwood who likes to fall to their death, these also work like a parachute so everyone really should have some of these, but that's just not realistic. I do feel the need to build a air craft carrier now with a cow launcher

Fine, tear them down so I don't have to walk into dozens of empty dungeons again and again and again because you need all the light rods to properly light your aircraft carrier and take all the "very rare items with very limited uses". I don't know why you asked if you're just going to do it anyway.
Howsabout a compromise? Since it's infinite, let's make it so that anything in the NorthEast (random direction), that is, East of 0,0 and North of 0,0, is free to be demolished, retrofited, harvested, whatever- and everything else is for 'free exploration'.
Or split it East/West, or North/South, whatever. You get the picture.

Alright. As long as he doesn't choose whichever direction is the easiest to get to. i.e. the direction casual explorers will likely use, if such people exist. Though that direction will get raided early regardless.

Jesus. Should I donate a pick so you can mine that chip on your shoulder?

If everyone wants to mark a direction off limits, that's cool. But that just makes the problem worse really. It would be removing 1/4 of the new dungeons from being utilized though. but who would we be saving these for? Do we really need a large preserve of these new dungeons? If anyone wants to preserve a dungeon all they have to do is claim it as theirs, and leave it be. Or better yet, just claim the entire island it's floating on.
There is no easy path around the end though. It's a series of floating islands which will require lots of bridges & good some ender pearling. But with the lag issue that goes with the server, bridging is going to be dangerous work, if your 'shift' key fails it's a long drop right out of the world.
