Indeed, it is, but it's also safe to say, that I utterly despise the idea itself.

Update:
I've just finished the assembly of my first rebot. In case you don't know the critters here's a pic. Just for scale comparison: they barely fit on a 40mm base.
Spoiler:

I know that Aleph is the most fiddly faction when it comes to assembly (probably part of its attraction for me), but I think since the rebots are standard size remotes, other factions will be similar. And I've got to say they aren't meant for novices in crafting.
The connectors of the hindlegs are about a millimeter thick and I can't see how anyone could make them stay without some delicate pinning action. Same for the weapon systems, good luck with just glueing them on, it'll come apart in no time.

I made the a similar experience while assembling my first dakini tactbot.
Spoiler:

They don't seem to be much in the picture, but I tell you they are only slightly taller than a tau fire warrior and the head, legs, arms, shoulder wings and shin armor come seperately and have virtually nonexistant spots to fix them to.
It was ok for me, because I knew what to expect and I'm not shying away from several hours of assembly and preparation per model, but I assume some people wouldn't endure it as well.

Pics of both miniatures tomorrow.

Like I promised some snapshots of the fully assembled and already primed Rebot.

As you can see I used a microarts base and I thought it's a nice touch to let the remote crush the can on the ground, which also helps hiding the pin.

You can also see that I decided to magnetize the three (four) different weapon options. My favorite is the Zayin with the twin guns, because I like the idea of 4shot AROs and 360° view, but I don't want to be stuck with it should I find out I need the guided missiles to crack my buddy's TAG. And since I'll focus on other miniatures before painting the second rebot, this was the way to go.

The last pic was just taken in the heat of the moment, because every now and then I'm amazed by how many shades of grey (no pun intended) there are. Now I made a reference for future projects, because choosing the right temperature of grey can make all the difference for the overall harmony of a palette.

The rebot has already received a german grey basecoat on all the elements that are supposed to end up black, metallic or grey.

Even after a week of (color)scheming I'm still not 100% sure how I'll paint my ALEPH troops, but I decided to partly make it up as I go along, instead of hesitating and mindfucking myself for half a year like I usually do.
So it will be a combination of white/grey/black/metal with some optional color added here and there to make it less monochromatic (the distribution and percentage of all the different colors is the part I haven't figured out yet) and the mandatory (mostly orange) OSL.

Stay tuned for updates, might make an exception this time and do some PIPs.

Big B, I'm curious, what made you choose ALEPH and the AI as your faction?

Np, Dave: Like I mentioned before, one of the main things was the need for something that looks as different from my 40k stuff as possible.
In the beginning I didn't like the models that much, I actually preferred or .
in the end didn't make it because despite the gorgeous models, the style still was too close to my other stuff. (they might become my second army, should I ever get that far)
was out of the game immediately, since I know too much about the asian background to fully enjoy it.
has some awesome models too, but many simply aren't my cup of tea. Parachuting werewolves
looks too much like "halo meets dragonball", even though they also have some eyecandy.
were already taken by one of my buddies and I wanted to start a varied group.

So the question was or ?
actually was my first choice mainly for the TAGs (the cutter and jotum are great and I could do some nice weathering on them). But another one of my buddies told me he preferred them too and since I only wanted the TAGs and actually didn't like the whole knight theme I decided to leave to him.
Straight from the beginning I found the aleph fluff was the most intriguing and appealed to me much more than any of the other factions. Seams like it's just easier for me to empathize with a dominant scheming AI that means well and only wants to unite mankind under its absolute control, than the boring most influential "good guys". simply knows what's best for you, even if you don't!
It took me a couple of days to warm to some of the miniatures, especially the rabbots (that's robots with rabbit ears, like the maruts and yudbot), but most others I found great anyway. Now I think resisting the lure of the jotum was the best decision and that Aleph ist the only proper faction for me.
A couple days later the guys from CB teased the new Aleph stuff and that made me even more certain. A character by the name of Penthesilea, my favorite name from greek mythology? On a bike, which look freaking awesome in Inf? Hell yeah!
That reminds me, I really love mythology and the fact, that Aleph is divided into a greek, vedic and hebrew theme, is a great plus. I've already done research on all of the aleph background and will incorporate it into my paintjobs.
For example the myrmidons will be given a suitably ant-like scheme.

Correct.

UPDATE:
Last night I worked on the modules for the table, this night I thought I'd paint a little for a change.

I'm still not sure I made the right decision color-scheme-wise, but I'm going to see it through and alter afterwards or just promise to do better next time.

Anyway I decided to do some subtle shading with multiple filters and wet-blending on the armor, because it has very nice curves and would look awful when "washed" or "layered" for shading/highlighting.

So yeah, wet-blending how does it work again... actually turned out better than feared, but still not as smooth as I'd like it. There are some spots where I didn't have full command over the paint and it went where it wasn't intended to, or dried quicker than expected, but I reckon it'll take a while to get stable and I'm up for the challenge.

So here's a little PIP, with the first quick attempt on the foreleg to the right, it was mainly a color test. It's actually just one filter done so far and the second makes it more interesting to look at and a little bit more crisp. Not to mention highlights...

B, I mentioned infinity to some of my gaming chums and turns out they're all quite keen to play, so may pick up a starter box for a laugh.

I'm really not a huge fan of metal minis but don't mind getting a handful for a quickish paint job and fun game away from GW.

I wanted to be really, but my friend called them first so I think I'll be too (none of the others really grab me).

I'll be watching what you do with them and if you have any tips send them my way

Metal isn't that bad, you just need to go back and file away the mold lines after priming, because no matter how thorough you are, you always miss them on the shiny metal. Baiyuan, how many ALEPH figs do you have to paint?

I do already, Aleph is the most fiddly faction, be prepared!
Nomads could also be an option, just don't buy the starter box, it's full of ugly. Pick the models you like and order those, Infinity has very little restrictions when it comes to "army building" it's all about the player. Sure you can make mistakes, but in order to get into the game it really doesn't matter. There hardly is a "bad" first model, as long as you start with infantry instead of being determined to blow your buddies to bits with some monster TAG, that can hardly be put down at very low point battles.
If you start playing Aleph be sure to get some netrods, because aleph really lacks orders at low point battles, since everything is so elite. And netrods are an extra order each at a cost of 4p I think, while your average soldier costs 30+. In a 100p game you'll be destroyed by an oppenent who can give twice as many orders as you, no matter how elite Aleph is supposed to be.
I'm really looking forward to your paint scheme, hoping you don't go studiostyle (which is cool, but so... so common ).

Which leads to my non-existant update:
Worked a little more on the gaming table, which I have finished constructing most of the basic modules for.
Meanwhile I came up with an idea for an additional two modules which will be fortified gatehouses to the compound.
Those I'll build tomorrow, because tonight is painting time.
Let's see if my next update can elicit more feedback than the last.

ARGH, Achilles' heel!
I've fully prepared two for painting (rebot and dakini tactbot).
One is just waiting for some primer (naga hacker).
And that's it so far, because I'm not going to play the game with unpainted miniatures. If I take just one step down that road everything will be assembled in no time and will be all painted up just shortly before hell freezes over.
But to answer the question in regard to what's waiting in my big Aleph box: 4 dakinis, 4 posthumans, 3 dasyus, 1 asura, 3 devas, 1 garuda, 2 rebots, 2 probots, 1 maruts, 1 myrmidon, 1 achilles, 1 patroclus, 1 sophotect
So the answer is 25 to count them all, but some of them I only bought for the incredible bargain. Maybe they will be used in conversions, or one day if I desire to play a game triple the standard size then I'll field them all.

So much for tonight's painting session, gotta get out early. I managed to put down the final basecoat for the metallic parts, after going back and forth between almost black with a hint of metal (which easily looks like I have basic drybrushing skills if one doesn't look closely enough) and super clean blue steel.
Blue steel it is, but of course it'll receive further treatment, so I'll have chance to adjust it as the rest of the scheme takes shape.

24 Ariadnans? That's like 8 of my guys! Ariadna is the horde faction, that's like comparing model numbers between IG and SM.
Which as a matter of fact is good for me (and fully intended), because I can take my time and put a lot of care into those few models that I'll need for starters.
Considering my workstyle it'll still be "when hell freezes over". But I vow to improve.
