Yeah, that's not a bad route to go, even if you get soundly defeated and lose everything, i've never gotten killed losing a fight and you keep your level, you can always build it back up. I think taking out 20 enemies by yourself is also good for the renown, even if they're just bandits.

One "trick" that I have done is set the max people fairly low, ride in and decimate them... ride off a bit "retreat" and charge again when the next screen comes up... This also counters losing too many guys in a fight

I kind of felt all three were a little heartwarming. Mordin died saving the race he originally doomed, Thane died to save someone and spent his last moments praying for Shepard, and Legion died to make peace between his race and another.

Whelp, I'm back to Shogun 2. I forgot how fantastic this game is and now using the Steam workshop, delicious. The AI is greatly improved thanks to some ass-kicking mods.

"Adventure games? I used to when I was young. Is it good?"

Well, I started playing it and...wow. Actually....wow. I only played for like an hour so far and I used to hate adventure games..but this game feels so very well-crafted. Sure, graphics are bad. The writing however feels so genuine. So many little details put into it, making the characters feel alive and not just "Ask me to progress!". Really liking it so far.

Spoiler:
The first time I beat the game it was like a day or two after it'd come out, I was conflicted. I chose synthesis because, well, I guess it made the most sense. But looking back I really dislike the synthesis option, a forceful evolution isn't something that my Shepard would view as an outcome worthy of his sacrifice. Control or destruction fit it the best, but I remember reading a post on the Bioware forums where people tried to rewrite the ending so that you could actually win if you chose to shoot the Catalyst. Most of the responses were terrible, but there was one guy that wrote, what I viewed as a perfect ending; essentially Shepard realizes that the Catalyst is actually Harbinger, who's trying to trick Shepard into killing himself because the Reapers are actually losing. Long conversation continues and Shepard rallies Earth's defenders and wins. I wish out of the 8 endings you could get, that could have been one, or something similar.

For whatever reason I'm playing 'shogun 2: fall of the samurai'. Is it me or are those starting artillery really OP? I pretty much snipe out enemy generals pretty hard. Basically laughed my enemy away when most of his army came forward leaving his cannons vulnerable and then just attacked them with cavalry. In another bit I also used the yari light cavalry to attack and kill off the enemy general though I made my light cavalry a bit vulnerable doing so. I'm doing the imperial route and for some reason it seems both sides have fairly modern weapons (though oddly enough the emperor hates westernization even though they side with the british instead of the americans or something). I was always of the idea the shogun hated modernization. It seems like all of japan hates it overall but it's really annoying how traditional they are sometimes considering it's just one more annoying thing to make rebellions annoying. Then some shogun sides are allying imperial sides and some are of similar faction standing and fighting each other anyway. Now most of the west of japan is imperial and most of the east is shogun. Not sure if it worked that way.

Not that I finished Metro, I picked X-Com: Enemy Unknown back up. So much fun, but it can be so damn frustrating sometimes. And I also just realized (after 8-ish hours into the game) that you can keep fighters in different countries without having bases there. Herp derp Hopefully the US doesn't leave X-Com for me

WoW for me, too. Got my Alliance characters on Wildhammer/Thunderhorn, and Hordies on Aggramar.

I must say that I completely prefer Alliance to Horde; nobody on Horde talks, guild chat in guilds with several hundred members is nonexistent and trying to start a conversation is an exercise in futility. As much as the Alliance has more whiny kids, it's also a lot less antisocial.

Mandorallen turned back toward the insolently sneering baron. 'My Lord,' The great knight said distantly, 'I find thy face apelike and thy form misshapen. Thy beard, moreover, is an offence against decency, resembling more closely the scabrous fur which doth decorate the hinder portion of a mongrel dog than a proper adornment for a human face. Is it possibly that thy mother, seized by some wild lechery, did dally at some time past with a randy goat?' - Mimbrate Knight Protector Mandorallen.

My experience with it hasn't varied at all in nearly... (when did TBC come out?) ...7 years. Alliance was friendlier and more social than Horde when I first started, on both Wildhammer and Nordrassil - on Draenor I only played Alliance, which was also the same.

Now on this account, Wildhammer was stayed the same Alliance-wise (but is also now full of Thunderhorners whining about the realm connection), and Aggramar seems to be no different from my other Horde experiences - 3 characters in 3 separate guilds and not one of them ever has a conversation going. My other characters on that realm aren't in guilds yet.

The only thing that seems to have changed is that the Horde I knew 7 years ago was full of stuck-up elitists, but they seem to have fethed off now.

As much as it will vary, I seem to be having pretty solid experiences. Then again, as Soladrin will attest to, I'm naturally unlucky, so I might just be stumbling upon every bad example the Horde has to offer - something which really shouldn't surprise me any more.
