Not my style. Or maybe it was Dota? Or maybe just a pale impression ala a StarCraft map, but I wasn't getting into it for whatever reason. Seemed like it could certainly be fun in the right circumstances but I wasn't jiving with the nuances.

Finally complete Assassins Creed 3. It has taken 40 hours and a few restarts but it was a fairly decent game. I only really done the main story stuff as the game lacked any real challenge, I don't think I upgraded my weapons once. Looking forward to getting Black Flag on the next sale and giving it a go. Now I just need something else to play, maybe a Batman game, Minecraft or Skyrim. No decided yet.

AAhhh, Shogun 2, I always forget how hilarious your Realm Divide is. So, in this playthrough I am a true BFF with the Takeda clan. It's probably one of the mightiest clans still around and we were crushing Hojo together when the Realm Divide happened. Hilarious map ensues (white are mine, green are Takeda's, red are our enemies):
No matter, my loli Daimyo will enjoy watching the entire Japan burn for defying the might of the Date clan :

Well my game went to crap and I have to start over. I hate how when you have 3 or so enemies you can fight one and deplete their armies and be winning only for one of the other factions to send a big stupid army at you. Eventually most people started betraying the emperor including one of my allies and then he tried attacking me. I successfully repel him and then do what must be a heroic victory against him but it doesn't matter because I'm assailed on all sides. Ugh I remember why I hate this game now. Maybe total war itself is just annoying with how treacherous all the other factions can be.

Yes, I know what you mean, and sometimes I honestly can't understand the diplomacy AI (Yeah, I know it always sucked but in Shogun 2 it does seem better). An example that happened today, was me trying to once again start a Trade agreement with my only ally, Takeda, after we were "interrupted" thanks to some enemy attacks. He reffused, even though our clans are BFF (really, the only thing I know it will work is to suck up to them like no tomorrow, I'm gifting them money every 3 turns to keep that friendship way up). I complete the turn. Takeda proposes me the Trade Agreement... I'm gonna guess it's because Takeda is a Tsundere or something.

I see what you mean now... The Real Divide keeps damaging my Diplomacy status with Takeda, We'll reach a point no amount of gifts will make him happy.
And yes, situation is getting a little out of hand, literally fighting the entire other half ot Japan when they are all allies, seeesh. I have no idea how people manage to beat this on Legendary.

Yeah exactly only so long your alliance will last no matter how good you are to them. I also recommend not taking on any vassals from this point onward they always rebel after the divide.
Can't help but feel the divde is handled really poorly.

That's been my problem with the latest Total War games - Shogun and Rome 2 - the forced events garbage. I get why they do it, but I hate it.
At least the Realm Divide made a little bit of sense because it's an outside actor declaring you enemy - but it should trigger some sort of general chaos type situation, everyone who likes the daimyo going after you, everyone who dislikes the daimyo breaking off and making their own claims, and anyone who is good enough allies sticking with you.
The civil wars in Rome on the other hand are enough that I haven't played it in months, even though I like every other bit of the game a lot. I hate it... hate hate hate that no matter how well I balance things by the very systems inherent to the game, at some point those systems will just flip on their head and magic, boom, civil war. Armies from nowhere, cats and dogs living together. Terrible.
I hope they move away from this mechanic as it has spoiled what could have been my favorite entry into the series.

If I remember correctly there's an entire thread on dakka dedicated to realm divide and how annoying it is on its own. Remember this isn't about shogun 2 but just the realm divide feature that the thread is about. I don't remember how many pages the thread received but everybody seemed to have trouble with it.

Yesterday I downloaded Injustice: Gods Among Us on my tablet, and for a free game, it's pretty damn awesome. I'm not even much of a DC fan, but there's a good range of characters that I'm at least aware of, so that's something.
I've ordered the full game for the Xbox, hopefully it's as good.

Yeh that would be a much better realm divide. It would also be strategy wise because you could politically manuver in order to get people to ally with you instead of the shogun.
Yeah I agree that things seem too forced with those systems. Rome should be the same where you can prevent civil war with an internal politics system.

I am an olde schoole X-COM veteran, and I ran up against a brick wall repeatedly when I tried to play the new game. It took me four or so false starts before I realized that Satellites were more important to winning the game than literally anything else you can do. They generate money and they reduce panic, which keeps money flowing in so you can buy more satellites. My advice to you would be to start a new game (sorry, your current game ain't gonna end well with two countries in full panic) and focus on satellites as hard as you can.

That's two countries gone, and *five* in full panic I kinda want to run it into the ground and see how it burns. Next time I know to focus on getting engineers and getting satellites in the sky.

Because i keep losing to fething bandits! Every time I get a good amount of guys, start training them up, and are almost done with some... BOOM 30 Sea Raiders attack me. They outspeed me and I keep having to sacrifice men to get away! I can't even pay them to leave me alone! IT'S SO STUPID!

You might want to try to rush the alien base. That gives global reduction.
Generally, you actually want to lose a couple of countries, just to make the job of covering the remaining countries easier. Of course, you still have to juggle panic in the meantime.

How? if you have a reasonably large force you should have no issues at all. Ride ahead and distract them so that they waste their arrows shooting at you (always circle them so their arrows rarely if ever hit) while chipping away at isolated individuals on the edges of the group. Meanwhile your minions close the distance and begin cleaning up. This method works extremely well and I rarely suffer casualties (except for myself occasionally).
Just how many men do you actually have? You will want quite a lot, ideally with a goodly number of missile troops. I generally have about 50 by the time I go Sea Raider hunting.

Do not underestimate the Squats. They survived for millenia cut off from the Imperium and assailed on all sides. Their determination and resilience is an example to us all.

Can't seem to get very far in Resident Evil. These controls are going to take some getting used to.
I'm actually quite surprised though. When I saw let's plays of the first game and the other ones after 3, I thought the game wouldn't be scary at all. It's nothing that will give me nightmare fuel, but the atmosphere is actually pretty effective. Even had a few good scares.
