I've heard the mute option is quite a preferable option on that game.

I am currently playing the Dark Souls of 2D platformers.... Shovel Knight.

There is not this idea.

Terraria! I though, why not build a giant pyramid, on top of a pyramid?

But looking at it now, I realize that I should have thought: Why not build a giant inverted pyramid, on top of a pyramid.

Been playing Kingdoms Of Amalur Reckoning.... This game would be incredibely more awesome if they ditched the cartoonish art style and invested more time on the look & feel of the world.
But the combat system is absolutely jaw dropping and a insane amount of side quests and such to do.
All in all I am enjoying it but looking forwards to the end of it, so that I can find another game to immerse myself in.

Kingdoms of Amalur is a great game. - Especially for the price it sells at now.

But, a word of warning. You can complete the game quite handedly at full level by doing less than half of the zones in it. - Same with the faction-ey ones.
If you don't like a faction, or a zone, don't feel obligated to hang out there. There will be somewhere else more fun to suit your tastes at the next entrance/exit.
I really do like how KoA embraces pseudo Celtic mythology with the Fae and the Sidhe etc as opposed to your typical LOTRish elves is a breathe of fresh air.

I found it had a weak second half. Without spoiling too much (though still in a spoiler if you'd prefer to avoid any impressions at all)

Spoiler:
There is something of a change in perspective near the end, after which it seems to jump fully off the deep end. By the time the game ends the narrative seems to have abandoned all plausibility or internal coherency in favor ham-fisted and painfully forced drama.

For me it was so abrupt and poorly executed I couldn't help but feel like they switched writers midstream or ran out of money and just threw something at the wall hoping it would stick.

Player be warned I guess.

Anyway I've started to get into Valkyria Chronicles 2. It is a lot more polished from a mechanics perspective. A lot of the half-finished systems and poorly executed good ideas have been corrected. Upgrades are more diverse, retreating/deploying has been made a lot more elegant, tank fights are a lot less binary, the mission structure is more fluid and there are restrictions in place to stop the worst of the Zapp Brannigan tactics the first game encouraged so much.

That said the move to the hand held platform really kills some of the presentation. I liked the visual style of the first game a lot and the weaker hardware can't quite pull it off. The camera is a bit sticky, the sound is flat, the controls aren't as smooth, and everything just feels more awkward.

Still if you liked the recent steam release of the first game, and still have a PSP kicking around it's worth checking out.

Everquest. Havent seen any MMOs in the last few years capable of competing for my interests. Every now and then I jump on Skyrim as even though it is 3+ years old, it still is better than any other attempt at an RPG that has come out since that I have seen and always more to do.

If you dont short hand your list, Im not reading it.
Example: Assault Intercessors- x5 -Thunder hammer and plasma pistol on sgt.
or Assault Terminators 3xTH/SS, 2xLCs
For the love of God, GW, get rid of reroll mechanics. ALL OF THEM!

I’m currently having a blast playing Hearthstone’s new Gnomes vs Goblin expansion.

I just really hope Blizzard makes some kind of Dragon expansion for HS in the future.
Think about it for a moment, cards with dragons on them are specifically classified as being of the “Dragon” type. Surely there must be some 'planned' reason for this, right?
Am I just imagining things again?

I'm gonna stick to normal and skip Ironman, I just don't have the time/patience for extra difficulty as I'm normally being climbed on by a toddler and other such distractions

But what about the Second Wave options? Any hidden gems in there?

Does Marathon make for a fun longer game, or does it just make research take forever and make things more boring overall?

What about the random starting stats, damage, currency output? Neat, or obnoxious?

Does the Red Fog add challenge or just get annoying? How about the automatic crits on flanking?

Thanks

Marathon kinda sucks, just makes research slower. The game is paced properly for the normal game. I like using the random stats it makes each guy feel more unique and therefore authentic.

Random stats seem fine. Random damage kind of gets obnoxious, I'm sure it's helped me once or twice but I've seen a lot of shots that would normally kill something only do one damage =/ Sometimes twice in a row. The red fog thing is interesting for a long game as with marathon, seems to promote leveling up more soldiers than sticking to a single dream team as any injuries will weaken them over time

Marathon seems ok. I think I ran into some monsters a bit earlier in terms of tech than I did playing normal, but my guys had more experience so it kind of balanced out. The research goes slower but when you throw up a bunch of labs it still finishes fairly quick. If anything, I've run out of stuff to research/upgrade with too much game left.

I may tweak some stuff around for the next run, I still want to do a mostly SHIV group. Gotta have at least one dude for the stunner and whatnot.

I used to play with random damage but then realized it was dumb too. Sometimes it saves you but but is that really a good thing? You should be penalized for making a dumb move. And also it just took the oomph out of some of your weapons. Nothing worse than seeing a Plasma Sniper round that should slaughter a guy cause 2 damage.

Aww, but I found running 4 lancers at Jeager's tank the first time you encounter him to be awsome . "Defeated" him in one turn. Although I'm always irriteated on the AI can get shots off scot free, but even if I hammer the aim button, I still get shot at.

I'm personally stuck at the mission where you have to take out the giant tank in the desert after the encounter in the valkyur tomb thing.

Still playing Archeage, I know I told myself I was going to quit because Trion is complete garbage but I just cant stop playing.

Anywho originally I wanted to make a fishing boat and then my server had a giant war and fishing kinda went out the window for me, then I saw the ship customizations coming up in the next big patch and I knew I was going to need a bigger boat.

So I present to you my Nostromo! (I am the one actually on the ship in the second pic, I needed a guildie to take a SS because the POV while at the helm sucks.)

If you don't play Archeage ill explain the fun that was had acquiring this beast.

First I had to craft about 50 trade packs and ferry them from my faction's land across the open ocean (free for all pvp zone) to an island to trade for tokens to buy ship plans. This island is normally camped by pirates (they have their own faction), the enemy faction and my own faction, I did a few trade runs with my guild and we had loads of fun.

After I had the plans in hand I needed to gather enough materials to craft the 15 packs I needed to build the ship, it took a bit ( I bought a bunch of materials because im not going out of my mind growing 5,000 cotton) but I had all my packs and I started building my ship. I had a bit of help moving my packs from where I kept them on my land to the dry dock I had placed in a cove.

Now I need to craft cannonballs so we can do some naval pvp!
