@Deathklaat- I'm doing some Archage myself, finally got going. Aside from my Firran that I'm playing to hang with a coworker, my main is a Naian named Bortheraz. Think you could drop me a friend invite or something?
Just getting past the first 15 levels and starting to try and get into crafting- got any tips for someone who's wanting to do weapon and armoursmithing?

Got the Halo 5 Beta going today, and I have to say I'm impressed. HUD scopes, unlimited sprint and boost go a long way towards making the Spartans seem more like supersoldiers, and the new weapon designs are awesome for the most part (love the new Battle Rifle and magnum!). The new game mode is quite cool too; one life per player per round, last team standing wins!
The only bit I'm not too keen on is the CoD/Battlefield-style trigger-to-scope, but I'm sure I'll get used to it.

You have to hold down Left Trigger to zoom in. I think this is pretty standard for FPS these days, but Halo has always has a click of the Right Stick to zoom, which I've always preferred.

Huh. I don't play and FPSs on consoles, so I wouldn't know.

Cant you change this with the stick layout in the options? Would be annoying if they removed those features, as I appreciate the older layout. Currently playing some MC direwolf and a Xenonauts run.

I imagine you'll be able to on full game, this is just a beta so there's not really options.

Historically, that wasn't a tank destroyer. It was a snub-barreled 75mm howitzer mounted on a Stuart chassis. It was used for close support anti-infantry/gun work in armored units. Whether it actually belongs in WoT as a distinct unit (as opposed to a modification of the M5 Stuart) is a good question. But it's an historical vehicle that saw plenty of combat on the Western front until it was replaced by the M4(105).

Been spending too much time on WoT myself recently.
I know that my play style is not well suited to using a light tank, so I can't wait to get up above tier 3, but other than that I can't decide on whether to go for heavier tanks or branch out to Tank Destroyers more. My current favourites are my T18, Pz.Kpfw. 38 (t), and Vickers Medium Mk. III.
And although I have favoured maps - and indeed favoured starting positions on those maps - my performance on the couple of T3 machines I currently have is decidedly variable. some matches I do very well indeed, the next I am taken out early, generally to a single shot from a T5.
Is this normal as you move up the tiers?

The T18 is one of the best tanks of that tier, simply because unless you're accurate enough to hit the gun mantlet, your aim time is fast enough to shoot before the T18 does, or you're fast enough to get behind it, it's all but impenetrable; even rear-shots can bounce from half the guns T2 tanks have available, and some T3s also struggle. It's one of the favoured tanks of seal clubbers (expert players who either go into low tiers alone, or in platoons, simply to beat a load of newbies) because it's not only powerful, but angling can bounce even more shots, and knowing where to hit a target can result in a goodly amount of 1-shots. A lot of T2 games can be decided simply by who has the most T18s.
The 38(t) is also one of my favourite tanks (I also have them in my Flames of War Czech Panzerkompanie), and is quite underrated in my opinion. Fairly agile, decent armour, decent gun; it's a very well-rounded and effective tank.
The Vickers, however, is one of my personal hatreds, that I found a painful grind to the Matilda. I loathe most of the early Brit lights and mediums, with the exception perhaps of the Cruiser Mk. II, solely because of the howitzer. Slow compared to most other nation's tanks, with at best average guns that, whilst accurate or relatively fast-firing, struggle to penetrate wet cardboard, and armour that might as well be wet cardboard, you're targeted first by any savvy tanker and seen mostly as a free kill; especially the mediums with their ridiculously large silhouettes and completely vertical armour. If the enemy ignores you, and/or stands still, you can usually bag a kill, but Brit lights and mediums tend to rely on getting the drop on enemy tanks, hopefully killing them before they can return much fire, or scaring them off, and getting the hell out of dodge before their rice-paper armour meets a gentle breeze, which is why I love the 3.7 howitzer; long-range, powerful (capable of 1-shotting most tanks you'll meet), and can be used as a quasi-SPG, especially if you can find a rise you can drive up so you get more shell-height, allowing you to fire over hills. Auto-aim is your friend with the howitzer, and since it stays locked for a few seconds after a target disappears, you can sometimes bag a kill on a hull-down enemy tank that's retreated slightly below their rise.
The general advice for WoT is to choose a nation, choose a type of tank, and stick to it until at least Tier V, preferably until you're elited that tank and maxed out the crew's exp, then go for another. Currently, USSR and US are probably the most balanced factions, mainly because the US is the US and because Wargaming is a Russian company, so naturally they have a Russian bias. The US have a good SPG line (also my personal favourite SPGs), TD line, and Medium line, with the M4 Sherman being one of the best non-premium Tier 5 money-making tanks in the game. The USSR have worse SPGs than the US, but the T-34 is a decent medium, and their TD line is also fairly good, but their strength lies in their heavy KV-1, KV-1S, and KV-2 tanks. The only downside of trying to access the M4 Sherman, or the KV-1, is that you have to grind through fairly rubbish tanks, first. The M3 Lee, for example, is widely regarded as one of the worst tanks in the game due to its large silhouette, lack of armour, and gun position. Historically it was fairly well-armoured, and posed a good threat to the German tanks in Africa, but Wargaming sometimes stomp all over historical accuracy, and this is one of those times. The M3 Lee is a painful grind, but the M4 is seen as worth it.
The T-28 grind to the KV-1 can be equally as painful, but if you get favourable maps and know how to use it, it can be an excellent tank. I used to think it was crap until I realised I was playing it as a medium tank, when I should be playing it as more of a TD. With its Medium Tank label, its powerful range of guns, and its speed, you might be tempted to play it as a front-line medium or a flanker, but don't be fooled into trying it, as your stretched chassis gives a lot of room for track shots and your armour might as well have been spray-painted on as an afterthought. You will NOT survive a fire-fight with anything, even Tier 3 lights, so don't even try. What you should do, is rush the very fast-firing and accurate ZiS 57mm gun. It also has good penetration, and whilst its alpha is low, the consistent damage you can put out through fast, accurate shots really build up. Use your speed to shift from cover to cover after firing (SPGs adore your stretched chassis), and try and hide your length behind rocks or other indestructible cover. Support your team from a distance, targeting enemy TDs first (they have little armour, and your quick firing can panic them, or take them out before they realise it; aiming for their tracks first makes them a sitting duck) and then go for mediums or heavies that are giving your team a hard time. As with the TDs, a lot of quick hits can panic enemy tankers, forcing them to disengage to save their own skin, or make mistakes (such as turning to face you and revealing their side armour to one of your TDs) that can then be punished.
Against heavies, tracking them is always a good shout, even if that's all you can do. An immobile heavy is a sitting duck, and you'll rack up credits like crazy by damaging even the same parts over and over. Against some, there are weak spots that not many people tend to target. The KV-1, for example, is an armoured behemoth that has incredibly thick, even hull armour, as well as a well-armoured turret that can be upgraded to be 110 all around. You'll struggle to do much, even with your 57mm's excellent penetration, but there are places like the completely vertical, thin armour on the front, where the viewport is located, that can be easily penetrated, and the back side-rear armour houses a very flammable engine. Never, ever target the turret of a KV; it's an exercise in futility. Some tanks, like the British AT-2, have more easy-to-spot weak-points, like giant commander's cupola (affectionately known as 'the tumour') on the top, and large gun mantlet. Reading up on the weak-spots of the more common tanks you see will give you a huge advantage, especially since the T-28's 57mm accuracy and relatively quick aiming time make it a great tank for targeting them.

Thanks for that Avatar.
My mind is reeling as I am not at all familiar with all these tank designations, but will put a lot of thought into what I am going to do before my next game.
I do have a large garage in the game, and a lot of different tanks at the moment, a relic from when I was playing 4 years ago. I will have to take a look at what is in there - I know I have some elite premium stuff like the T7 Combat car, but was looking at having 3 or maybe 4 slots for each of German, English, and US - so may have to concentrate on the US side of things and look at the SPG side of things now I have found out that that is what people were calling "Arty" and I have found out how to use their indirect fire.
Thanks again. I'm going to print out your words so I can study them more.

US Artillery is very good, boasting good accuracy, aim-time, shortish reload times (if you want to see a long aim and reload time, get the French Lorraine 39L AM--you can end a game having fired about 2 shots, waited for the reticule to get as small as possible, and missed both by miles, and not through lack of trying to hit), decent splash damage, and good all-round damage on impact. The Priest and M37 are where they start to shine. When targeting an enemy with arty, don't centre the reticule on the tank, put the central aim-dot behind the target.
One thing I forgot to mention in the first post, but is one of the most important rules, is to look where you're going. I only remembered this because I was about to get the kill-shot on an enemy Hetzer (in a non-SPG, target the lower glacis on a Hetzer; it doesn't share nearly as much armour as the rest of the hull, and is easily penetrated; don't be put off by every shot bouncing on its sloped hull) and had a team-mate drive full throttle right across mine and another ally's firing line, resulting in him copping my kill-shot in his rear (and also costing me credits for his own lack of situational awareness), and the enemy Hetzer bouncing 3 allied shots on his hull and getting away. If the team-mate beside me had fired, too, the allied tank who crossed our firing line would've been toast, and very likely gone on a sweary rampage.
The team-mate beside me was also positioned in such a way that I couldn't actually moved from my spot, so my hurried second attempt at a kill-shot clipped the Hetzer's sloped armour, since I couldn't move to see his glacis. Also, take a few seconds at the start of each game to see where people are going, and allow the idiots who turn their turret one way and drive full-throttle in a direction they can't see to get past you. It's far easier to wait than cop flak from some idiot--because he wasn't looking where he was going and rammed into you--for being in the way, and helps you avoid actually getting in peoples' way.
Learning how to drive and utilise common sense at the same time is a valuable skill that a lot of tankers in the game lack, and blame everyone else because of it.

Just getting past the first 15 levels and starting to try and get into crafting- got any tips for someone who's wanting to do weapon and armoursmithing?
Which server are you on? i play on Salphira.
If you want a profession to level that will make you loads of gold, i would pick up mining. On my server a stack of 1k raw stone will net you about 130 gold, if you turn that stone into hereafter stones you are looking at about 230g.
crafting weapons, armor and jewelry are some of the hardest things to do due to the included RNG factor and the cost to make the items, it also doesn't help that the weapons and armor you get from quests are far better than anything you can craft at the same level.
one thing to understand about crafting weapon, armor and jewelry is that to make the next tier you need to use the previous tier as a component, this is easy to do until you are able to make the level 44 stuff and beyond. Hardcore crafting starts with the crafting of the level 44 set. There are 4 of these sets for each armor type [cloth, leather, and plate]. What's really fun, is the fact that when you upgrade your set, you don't know which of the 4 set options it will turn into.
To put it simply, you are guaranteed only a Illustrious(lvl44) piece of equipment. After that you have a 1 in 4 chances of having the right Illustrious to upgrade to Magnificent(Low50). After that you have a 1 in 4 chance to having the correct Magnificent to upgrade to Epherium(Mid50), and lastly you have a 1 in 7 chance of having the correct Epherium to created your Delphinad(High50). And after you get to high fifty, there is a 1 in 7 chance you get the weapon you are hoping for.
You have a 1 in 112 chance of upgrading straight to Delphinad, and a 1 in 748 chance of getting the Delphinad equipment you want.
Weapons adhere to a similar upgrade pattern. There are 4 level 44 weapons of each weapon type, only one of which can be upgraded to the low level 50, of which there are 4, and out of those 4 only 1 can be upgraded to the middle level 50, of which there are also 7 and of which also only 1 can be upgraded to it's final high level 50 form. Same chances apply.

Yeah, I just found that! Makes an already fun game even more fun as my brain doesn't keep trying to reconcile Battlefield controls with Halo visuals. I've actually managed to get a kill or two now!
I'm still amazed by how 'fast' is plays compared to the previous game. The infinite sprint, boost and vaulting/climbing really make the whole thing feel so much more than 'gun with legs'. Can't wait for the full game to arrive.

The PzKpfw 38(T) and the other variant of the 38 is silly good for its tier, It is the single vehicel that landed me the most kills, I avaraged around 2 to 5 kils each round with it. As for the tanks I have now I have to say its the French BGR b1, with its 90mm gun its silly good against just about any enemy tank, SPG or TD.
And yes, I have lost track of the times I have been reduced to a smouldering wreck by a higher tier tank.

I've been playing 'shogun 2: fall of the samurai' of all things. I must have gotten totally bored as most 'total war' games are not my style, fairly boring and just take a while (the a.i. also often makes weird negotiation decisions). Add to that the fact i can't get into eastern culture or at least warfare and it's just not too much for me. That said the littering of bodies is pretty freaking crazy in 'total war'. 'Fall of the samurai' is more my style as it has guns and no stupid crap 'realm divide' but artillery in 'fall of the samurai' just seem so OP.

I started playing FTL:FTL a few days ago. Got to the flagship for the first time with the torus. Basic ion, hull laser, and hull beam as weps, combat, sheild, and system repair as drones (with a hull repiar in storage for after battles. I was at the point where I was killing triple shielded rebel ships with no damage done to me. Then I got to the flagship. And I died.
The only way I could have stood a chance is if it didn't have hacking and the ability to charge weapons while cloaked.

Meh, still considering FTL to be one of the most overhyped games ever. While luck usually plays a certain role in roguelikes, FTL is the equivalent to flipping a coin.

It does seem that way at times. But it's a nice thing to play a game before bed. Also, I got if for I $2 or something, so that works .

I'm not sure how normal runs, I tend to stick to easy as even there a single lapse of judgement/observation can wipe you out... but after I learned how to play properly I can consistently get to the end and *usually* take out the rebel ship. It was never hyped to me, I just saw it, bought it, and fell in love. You do get some bad luck, some voyages do seem to be 'cursed' but I wouldn't go quite so far as to say flipping a coin @Co'tor the rebel flagship is a bag full of dicks, it's meant to be. Think of it as an MMO raid boss that has specific phases and a fairly specific way to deal with it. Everyone can charge guns while cloaked btw. It having hacking is a bit new since the advanced version (which I haven't played a whole lot). To beat the flagship though you've got to have a strategy for neutralizing it's guns quickly. No other ship in the game brings as much firepower to bear (9 shots and a beam capable of piercing 2 layers of shielding IIRC) while having as much hull and as many ridiculous secondary systems. It also has a fat crew compliment and the best medbay you can get. Read through a guide if you need to, the thing is brutal. But take out the guns and quick, either with missiles, boarding parties or what have you. I find the missiles to be the most disastrous, followed by a tossup between the ion and lasers. The beam is only bad if the two shield-depleting systems are up. Missiles, bombs, and boarding parties are my usual go-to methods for nuking the weapon systems in short order. There are a few other optimizations/efficiency issues you may need to deal with as well. The whole game before the flagship is there to prepare you for the final battle. If you get to the RFS with 50 missiles 50 drones and 30 fuel, you've done it wrong. You don't need the fuel and won't be likely to use that many missiles or drones fighting the boss. You should have traded them out as you went to get more resources for upgrades or better weapons. It's also pointless to have any banked scrap by the time you hit the endzone, you may not get to shop again before the fight. Same idea, make sure you have weapons that will hurt the boss by the time you get there. Even if it will make the middle of the game lean/weird/potentially get you killed, think about what you will need for the final fight. Cloak at at least lvl1 is almost mandatory. Remember, cloak doesn't *have* to be used to give you more charge time while the opponent cools his heels, you can use it as an active defensive cooldown. Wait till your enemy fires a large number of shots, then activate your cloak to max (or nearly so) your evade rating. Kind of like how Rogues in WoW used to be able to trigger Vanish while spells were traveling to them and cancel them out (it did get changed though lol). To use it like this, even if you have level 3 bought, level 1 is still best. It incurs the shortest cooldown allowing you to juke waves of shots more often. Especially critical to avoid certain special attacks. Anti missile drone is also pretty darn useful until you get the missiles down. Also realize that you can't probably upgrade *every* system to the max by the time you get there unless you are particularly lucky. The engine upgrades eventually start giving diminishing returns (though still useful) and while having 4 shield bubbles is best, the cost to go from 3 to 4 is pretty high and the scrap may be better spent elsewhere. Not knowing how far along you got I don't really want to say more as it might spoil the fight for you.

My main problem is paying too much attention to the enemy ship and not enough to mine. I died one round because I forgot they destroyed by O2, and didn't realize for 2 jumps .

Yeah, I'm a Salphira Naian (due to your earlier post?) Not necessarily looking at crafting for money, though I'll gladly mine and sell stone and stone products for a little gild. Not entirely sure how the inter-player trades work right now, though, and I've realized I'm really still in the early tutorial levels yet- just got through the first couple Blue Salt Brotherhood missions.
So there's no way to get the proper dust or motes? I know you can mag-salvage stuff, and that's how I've been working on the Sun dust, but it's incredibly annoying getting Moon or Star instead (planning on making myself a shortspear when I can. Sad that the shortspear animations aren't all thrusts, but oh well).

Like I said, the game is not your friend. It has built in warnings for most of the common 'get yourself killed' errors, but they are easy to miss when the entire screen is flashing red. If you're having a hard time remembering to check, make yourself a pre-jump checklist
