Yeah, they're good on normal. PotD (Path of the Damned) is the highest difficulty level and on top of enemies having better stats, there also are a lot more of them. Too many to tank them as you could do on Normal / Hard, they just run past your tanks. Paladins can still tank decently, but also offer much more advantages with their auras and, most of all, per encounter (!) revives. Fighters can tank. And that's it. They cannot do anything else. That's why they're dead weight on PotD.

I got my brother to play warframe, so we've been playing that together.

And my origin account got hacked by russians, but I was able to get ti back. Annoying though, I'm going to have to change all the things that use that same password as well, and probebly warn my bank as well, as they might have been able to get some credit card detailes. And they changed my username too.

More Skyrim.

I ran through Moonpath to Elsweyr, which was as quick as I remembered it to be, but they've added some details here and there since I played it years ago. Its still meh. Back in regular Skyrim I thought like starting the main quest for some reason and proceeded to kill the first dragon. Wandering into Whiterun que three Elder Dragons attacking (I'm like level twenty) and just going to town on the place. I kill those three then three more show up. ...At this point I reload the save, but it keeps happening. Ah, so that'll be the Dragon Combat Overhaul mod uninstalled (damn, I wish every NPC just ran into houses instead of standing about like idiots... Hmn, probably a mod for that too).

I installed that mod straight after, but after turning off that dragon overhaul mod dragons are rare as hell outside of their set spawns. I may turn that mod on again at some point, but the mechanic where when a dragon is almost dead it has a (high) chance of spawning up to three more is broken as hell (maybe there's an option in the MCM for that though).

I played through Wyrmstooth too there. For all the hype about it its pretty damn short. The quality's great as far as voice acting, world detail and overall depth is, but sadly the quest doesn't last very long (OK a couple of hours, but I was expecting it to have more subsections). I don't know if it was bugged for me, but the way NPCs go on about the final battle being all epic and crap didn't really match what it was like when it happened. The dragon flew across the entire island, landed in the village then I hit it with my sword a few times. Uh, so what were those carriages of Legion troops and much lauded (but unseen) undead army about? ...Maybe I shouldn't have reacted to people yelling "go save the village" by running straight to the village, instead of leaving all those troops behind on the road and hoping they'd catch up later.

So overall for what it was it was pretty good. I'd have just liked to have seen the main quest stretch out over the whole island instead of just a small part of it (if you want to play just that quest you'll miss out on 70% of the landmass). That and the "descend into the depths of the earth and fight the dragon at the heart of the volcano" was good for a point, up until you're definitely so deep you'll be seeing dinosaurs and bird men, then you fall down a massive hole forever ...fall some more ...and then some more ....then somehow come out at ground level. Ah, bit of a story/game disconnect there (maybe they designed the final battle before everything leading up to it. I was expecting to fight the dragon in a cave filled with lava, which you see leading up to the fight I'd add).

Now back to the vanilla game. I sat there and again through a random decision decided to level my smithing to 100 (from 25...). Now my character's gone from wearing Glass to Dragonscale over night. ...Though I'll probably swap that out for something else soon enough (I've been through four outfit changes this week alone). I do question what all those bits of dead dragon smell like however. ...Reasons why I don't have them wearing Bonemold/Chitin (the pleasure of smelling rotten crab shell is brought to mind).

I'm not playing anything tonight really, but I'm watching Geek And Sundry play The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt.

I tried playing the first game but got incredibly annoyed with the combat system (stare at the mouse pointer until it flashes, ARGH).

Anyhow, http://www.twitch.tv/geekandsundry if anyone's interested.

The second and third games compeltly changed that combat system.

I would watch the stream but I am getting the game tomorrow (as long as the post office doesn't screw me) so want to avoid spoilers.

I've played about an hour or so of The Witcher 3 so far. Movement tends to switch between clunky and jerky, and trying to manoeuvre Geralt any more precisely than "move in that general direction" can be a bit of a faff.

Combat I've found is similar to how TW2 and Dark Souls played: rolling everywhere until you can hit stuff. Occasionally there's a use for parrying, but I've not found much so far, and I've found that ripostes take more time to perform than simply rolling to the side and hitting them. Higher difficulties might be a bit different, but if DS has taught me anything, it's that rolling is effective no matter the difficulty.

Despite the people decrying how its graphics had been turned down for PC, I still find it quite pretty, with only model textures and objects on ultra res and the rest of medium. PC runs a little hot, but it's manageable, and certainly no hotter than a heavily-modded Skyrim or similar.

Dialogue options feel a little lacking in some areas, especially when there's already been precedent for the sort of response you want being used before. It's something I think I find with all games that have dialogue options, though, and I can't exactly blame the developers for not listing every possible response someone could come up with.

You do get dropped in the deep-end story-wise when you're given free reign, though. Part of me doesn't want to venture too far into side-quests yet, because I'm already a little confused about just what's going on, but I also don't want to miss out on content, or anything that could become unable to be completed by story progression.

You do get a bit overloaded with side-stuff very early on
Spoiler:
main quest, plus nearby quest marker, plus bounty board with 6 or so things on it, all in the same starting area
, so I'd have preferred to be eased into it a bit more; have other bounties appear as more are completed, for example. The area doesn't strike me as one that gets a lot of people willing to take on bounties, so it'd make more sense to have more appear as the townsfolk start to see things getting done. That's just my personal opinion, though.

I know that 1 hour of pre-bedtime casual gameplay on the lowest difficult (yes, I play easy-mode first with games like this) isn't exactly the best thing to base opinions on, but it's just my 2p as it stands at the moment. Take it as you will.

Also of note, however, is that when you first save your game, you're alerted that older saves will not be compatible with newer game versions. I would not recommend investing effort into a character until either this changes, or you know you can do everything you want to before new versions are released.

Mandorallen turned back toward the insolently sneering baron. 'My Lord,' The great knight said distantly, 'I find thy face apelike and thy form misshapen. Thy beard, moreover, is an offence against decency, resembling more closely the scabrous fur which doth decorate the hinder portion of a mongrel dog than a proper adornment for a human face. Is it possibly that thy mother, seized by some wild lechery, did dally at some time past with a randy goat?' - Mimbrate Knight Protector Mandorallen.

Playing Witcher 3, as well. Haven't got very far, only about two hours and I'm taking my time. But, damn, are the graphics beautiful. Playing with almost all max settings (I think I only turned down the grass and foliage to high and everything else is ultra). Of course, this is the game that made me buy a new PC last month, so I built it with Witcher 3 in mind, as my old PC only barely met the minimum requirements.

I can see where it would be difficult for newcomers, as there isn't a lot of background fed to you right away beyond "Witchers kill monsters."

If you buy a physical copy, you get a little booklet that explains a bit about the universe and Witchers as well.

My copy was free with my GTX 970 purchase, so no physical copy. But I do get the cool downloads like paper dolls and stuff. Besides, I've played the first two games already, waiting to see how my imported save will affect things.

Ah.

To anyone that wants to buy it but hasn't done so yet, I really recommend a physical copy.

It includes an introduction to the setting, a very nice map, and an extra disc with the soundtrack on it, as well as a 'thank you' note from CDPR

Just had my first crash in Witcher 3 after applying an oil to my sword in the inventory.
On the whole, though, this is the first actual problem I've come across. 4-5 hours in before a crash on a game that just launched? That certainly beats Bethesda and their games that crash five minutes in.

Witcher 3 crashed for me about a half hour in, also while looking through my inventory. Haven't had any more crashes or any bugs/glitches in the 8+ hours i've played since then. I've been impressed how smooth it's run so far. After that first crash I was expecting it to be a common thing like Dragon Age Inquisition had after it first released.

There is not this idea.

I managed to beat one of the mechanical bosses, a pirate invasion, and a solar eclipse, all on my own. Terraria, of course. These might not be impressive to you, but remember, I'm bad at games.

Terraria alone is still not the most fun, though.

I'd appreciate some sort of auto-cast mod. Most battles play out the same - my tanks...tank and cast their usual stuff, Chanter casts the same 2 spells to begin with, Priest buffs etc. Like the Dragon Age system. Just...working.

I think youve got that the wrong way around. It says that Newer saves wont be compatible with older versions. New updates are not going to invalidate old save games.

Doesn't Easy Mode deactivate Friendly Fire? No Friendly Fire would make the game far too easy. Ciphers would be even more broken than they are right now as they could just link to any enemy / ally and damage everything without any potential harm for teammates.
