Just tried to do a run of DST, which did not have a happy ending. I got too friendly with the bishops and clockwork knight, trying to get the knight to smash the marble. He did that, only to follow me home and smash the fire. While running away with the last traces of health and daylight, I panicked and ate some mushrooms hoping they would heal me. Sadly, they didn't and I ended up going insane and tried to fight off ghosts with an axe. I never saw the fourth day.

Playing Dawn of War: Dark Crusade. Still kind of my favorite of the series; I'm a sucker for campaign maps, even ones that aren't that well implemented.

Oddly enough, I had something happen that I'd never seen before. The AI attacked my capital! Sadly, there is no awesome special defense mission for that. There should have been. There really should have been.

Thanks to the magic of Steam, I'm working my way through an oldie but a goodie: Descent 3. Most of you may be too young to remember the Descent games, but I remember my first experience with it was when the second one had just come out (I think I was like 7 or 8 years old) and I thought it was the most amazing game ever! I'm still a huge fan of the games, even if the graphics are massively dated by today's standards.

With all the recent remakes and rebooted games, I WISH they'd redo the Descent games. I grew up on the first one. IMO, one of the toughest games I've ever played.

Wow, I didn't even think they could. It is sad that there is no special defense mission. In line with the attacking missions but opposite. I wonder if there is one in soul storm...

May I ask what difficulty you're playing DC on? I've never been attack on my hq, and it's very disappointing that they don't have some reverse order of the attack missions, like for necron defense you have to kill their leader, while they try to achieve the objective

Normal, but I just realized that I've got one of the AI mods active. Dawn of Skirmish, I think? Maybe that's what allowed them to attack my capitol. Either way, I'm glad that it happened. Even without a special scenario, it got pretty intense. I was playing as the Necrons, got attacked by the Orks. The map was the Necron capitol map, I think, just with all the special stuff taken out.

I also saw the Space Marines attack and capture the Eldar stronghold, taking them out of the game before I even got a chance to fight them. Has that happened to anyone before?

I've had this happen a couple of times in DC, and quite often in SS.

Yeah, it can happen I was disappointed to find that out on my very first playthrough of the campaign (playing orks, as they matched my playstyle completely) that the space marines had been wiped out by the Imperial Guard.

Neat. For some reason I never saw it happen before. I was kind of looking forward to the Eldar stronghold mission, though. Can't quite remember what that one was like.

How does it play out when you attack the stronghold, then?

It did the little cutscene of the narrator talk about what will happen, then does a regular game in that map.

Also, a nice tip is if it's possible keep an eye on people's HQ's, and if anyone is close to taking out another AI is to rush the enemy who is endangering someone else. I've had to do it on a couple occasions tI save someone so I can kill them later.

Yeah, I should have done that. I was so focused on taking chaos out that I didn't pay enough attention to the rest of the map.

Honestly though, this is the most dynamic campaign I've ever played in DC. It's been great fun.

Is Dawn of Skirmish any good? I just finished my playthrough of Tau and was a little disappointed by the ease I ran it through. From what I can tell it vamps up the AI skill level, which is pretty cool.

I don't know if they can. I suspect that the rights are in the same limbo that Freespace's rights are in - i.e. tied up between both Interplay and Volition. And since Volition was acquired by someone else quite a while back...

So, unfortunately, I don't think we're going to see a rerelease.

I think it's all right, but I'm not the best judge of these things. The AI does seem to use a greater variety of units, they're more aggresive, and I think better at using combined arms.

Just Cause 2. Yeah, no...

I tried playing it when it first came out and thought that, of what little I played, was crap. I managed to make it further this time. Its still crap.

The first one wasn't a good game either, but that was the PS2 and well there wasn't much else at the time. This one feels unresponsive, I'm not really into the cartoony spy style its going for (I can see what its trying to do, but the dialogue's poor, that and I hate bullet spongy enemies) and generally I just don't like what gameplay I've seen (would it kill to be able to aim your gun properly).

Meh, another one of those games on my Steam list which I picked up for pennies. Now to try and find something else which I haven't played before on there (I installed Empire: Total War earlier and that refused to work... Third time's the charm?).

Huh, I loved it personally. It's not the most refined game, but it is fun.

Just got Blood Bowl: Dark Elves edition. I have no idea what I'm doing. One of the first games I've had to use the tutorials on.

You should've probably waited a couple months, Blood Bowl 2 is right around the corner. Blood bowl 1 had a notoriously horrible UI and horrendous tutorial. You won't be learning it fast from that unless you read the tabletop rules.

I really wanted to get into the blood bowl game on PC but I just couldn't. Went through the tutorial several times and never really got the hang of the game.

I wanted to get bloodbowl 2 but I don't like the idea of teams being held to ransom via pre order.

So I am playing stalker (the third one) and I am noticing something. The AI is kind of dumb and that is boggling me because wasn't the AI meant to be really smart? Most enemies just seem to run at me to attack then run away not really stellar. Maybe I am missing something.

Well, I got it from a friend's library on Steam, so I didn't put money into it, and I couldn't agree more with the tutorial. The only thing I've learned so far is try to make an honor guard around whoever has the ball, and the big guys aren't as cool as I expected. Any ideas of which race in general can dish out a beating?

After a lot of trial and error I've found out I like the skagen because once I get the ball I can just fly down the field. After every game ending with me getting no points with the other attempts I came out 3-0. This made me pretty happy.

Playing Crusader Kings 2, got the devil spawn chain of events. I hate this chain. Yeah, sure, give me a child who murders their siblings while making a bunch of references to bad horror movies. What fun.

And they're my heir, too. Bah.

If you can get that running; it's possibly my favourite of the series.

It was actually playing that that got me to start an AWI army and got me interested in 18th century history!

(Mostly) solved my TF2 stuttering problems. They do keep popping up, but they don't occur as often and don't freeze the game for as long.

Also saw the Total War: Warhammer trailer. I'm still trying to get it in my head that this is not a hoax.

I don't think I've ever played a Total War game, but if it lets me charge blocks of skavens or knights at things and throw fireballs at units like that old shadow of the horned rat (or whatever it was) game, color me intrigued.

Well, Blood Bowl ended up crashing and I lost my skaven team,l despite saving it, so I got into a lizard team that's doing good enough. Don't get me wrong I still suck, but not as bad.

I also got some mods for Skyrim including Fallskar, and that's a nice outlet for my Blood Bowl

More Titanfall.

The IMC is much more fun to play as. Spyglass and Blisk are just better to listen to.

Yeah I was upset about that too first. Until I read some interviews with the guys. Essentially those teams were never planned for release, but because the game got delayed some of the dev team had time to work on them. However, making a single team in blood bowl costs A LOT of money so they can't just throw in free teams that were always going to be released as DLC anyway.
