Here's something that'll really be cool- read the books of lore as you go through the games. Each Elder Scrolls game is canonical history to the games that come after, so, for example, in Morrowind, you'll find books describing the adventures of your character in Arena and the events of Daggerfall- and Skyrim has references to the Nerevarine and the Oblivion crisis.
Really? I always thought the background material only went as far back as Morrowind. Thanks for the tip.
Yeah. Check out the Numidium books (not entirely sure what they're called), and anything about Jagar Tharn is the Arena stuff. He's the Big Bad in the first game.

More mordheim. Fulfilled the wyrdstone request. Got some spells and such. I think I got the one that decreases all enemy action points within 5 meters by 2. It sounded super awesome in the super cluster****s of fighting that battles can become while simultaneously not hurting me.

Playing WoW again for s bit. I dunno if I missed it but I think I saw a post or blizzcon something or another and my interest was piqued enough to throw $15 at my subscription. Just catching some characters up to 90 while I wait for the current expansion to have a fit if the black Fridays and be cheap. Legion looks cool too.
Got a tartarus to replace my nostromo, its not bad. A better successor IMO than the n52TE that Razer produced to follow the original belkin model.
Now that I have that... May have to get magicka2 and look into my back log again.

@LethalShade: Well it's making the idea of a zombie apocalypse that much more unlikely. If one guy could take down that many zombies with an assault rifle then there's no way they could ever handle the military. Even if 80% of the population turned to zombies and they might be fast zombies (with the strength of people) I just don't see it working. They don't seem smart enough. They could never ever take out anything from the air and safe zones would be handled. Not to mention some zombie movies start idiotically and never explain how it got so out of control.
Sorry the whole zombie thing just seems dumb to me.
Anyway I think I'm going back to mordheim.

The issue with most Zombie movies is that they take place in universes where nobodies ever heard of a Zombie plague. So you get, say, a dozen or so people who get infected on a field-trip to the abandoned bio-warfare factory, they all go home. Next morning they wake up dead and hungry for flesh- but since they weren't 'killed' before dying, their families don't get what's wrong. Cue the biting, the running/locking new zombie in closet, going to ER to treat bite wound. Patients in ER die from seemingly non-fatal bite wounds, start biting ER docs, get restrained. ER docs feeling under the weather, turn, eventually entire hospital is zombified because 1: Zombies aren't 'dead' since they're up and moving, therefore they're Patients instead of Targets, and 2: basic bite-wounds like a Zombie makes aren't usually fatal, and 3: in relation to 1, a plague that kills that fast yet can still spread is unknown/inconceivable, so people aren't thinking 'infection, quarantine', they're thinking 'my buddy Frank's looking a little pale, oh, hey, he's leaning in to say something to meohmyGOD WHY IS HE BITING ME?!'
And so Hospitals and Police and Fire departments are the first to be infected in that first day- the people with quick access to the CDC and emergency broadcasting capability, and also the people that everyone else trusts (and who, in non USA countries are the best armed and equipped for taking down hostile mobs).
Of course, in the real-world, the Military has officers-in-training writing up emergency planning measures for everything from Alien Invasion to Zombie Apocalypse, which plans are then stored away (after being looked over for any possible flaws by highly-trained folks) for eventual deployment if such a situation might occur.
Granted, even in "What's a Zomb-Argh!" movies, the plague shouldn't ever travel much further than a single big city or two, much less cross continents.

I fired around 150 shotgun shells into them, and found myself overwhelmed several times. I managed to kite them enough to get out of here unharmed, but my base is ruined by all the corpses.
Fortunately I played a Veteran with the "Insensible" trait (prevents panic most of the time).
+ For the Zombie Plague effectiveness, look at Left 4 Dead, where the virus is airborne and the only survivors are the lucky ones who are naturally immune.
++ In Project Zomboid, IIRC, Knox County citizens are the only ones to be infected, and the whole zone is quarantined by the military.

At that point it's more of a decoration to how awesome you are. Jeez it's like a carpet of corpses and blood. Reminds me of the original 'dawn of war' games when you put the setting to persistent corpses. That was always fun to watch.

There's an XKCD cartoon that deals with the absurdity of most accidental zombie infections. Dealing with the initial outbreak of zombies in XKCD's zombie movie script takes about as long as the amount of time needed for one of the characters to run out to his car and bring back a shotgun.
The remaining runtime for the movie is a rom-com.
An intentional outbreak is the more serious threat, as a smart bio-engineer will set something up to maximize the number of infected individuals. For instance, the Black Tide Rising series uses devices disguised as air deodorizers placed in airport bathrooms around the world to provide the initial infection vector. And those infected initially just have a "regular" flu for the first few days after infection.
(the victims aren't "real" zombies, as they're not actually undead; but they're close enough in virtually all other respects)

The voodoo zombie slaves aren't really 'zombies' in the sense that movies and games have portrayed them- for one, they're not infectious, and for two, they don't hunger for flesh.
Actually, the first 'Zombie' movie was "White Zombie"- and was a romance drama that involved voodoo zombies.
One of the stranger, and somewhat more fun, versions of the Zombie Plague is Return of the Living Dead- the second-branch sequel to Night of the Living Dead, where the Zombie thing is more of a chemical curse that just brings Everything dead back to life- cut-in-half dog cadavers used for training vets, insects pinned under glass, and of course long-dead bodies buried six feet under- and you couldn't kill them at all. But, since it was a chemical issue, it was more easily contained physically.

Yeah, I know about that. I was saying that people don't quite remember about this kind of "zombies".
(Reminds me of the song "Bad Voodoo" by Kreeps)
Anyway, going back to PZ. I started all over again and made a new, safer and prettier base.

First 3-ish hours into Elder Scrolls 1 and I've found 3 things: 1) EVERYBODY in the game is racist, even against their own race. 2) The towns are huge. Makes Whiterun look like a cottage. 3) You can write on your map. This will come in handy, especially since I'll need to look for safe rooms at some point in each dungeon. 4) It doesn't take place in one province, it takes place in ALL of Tamriel. I was honestly not expecting this much depth in the gameplay either. I like how when you interact with someone in the town, it feels more like each conversation is slightly different from the last. Only thing I've found annoying was the fact you can't just walk to the other towns, you have to fast travel. Still, pretty cool game so far.

It is pretty crazy. There's a reason that what was supposed to be a simple "Arena" combat game became one of the biggest-selling fantasy series in the West.
Also, I love the combat system- the way that you move your mouse determines the type of attack that you make with your weapon, and it looks pretty fantastic. Arena would (I think) weirdly enough be a game that you could convert to VR pretty easily.

More mordheim. I completed Act 1. Was rather funny watching the chaos ogre get stuck in between the doorway and just stay there. After some attempts at melee that hurt me a bit I just settled with killing most everybody else nearby and then shooting it to death which took forever. I feel sorry for the sisters of sigmar if they have to fight it because they have absolutely no ranged firepower whatsoever. I mean their melee is potent but that thing just wouldn't go down.
Anyway the shipment of wyrdstone got sent out and I managed to get all my guys healed, leveled and bought some skills for them. My warband's points level is at around 2200 pts currently. Oddly enough there have been little to no warband size increases and for some reason I seem unable to unlock impressive creatures despite my level and the fact they're appearing in hired swords. I really wish I could buy a rat ogre just for sheer power.
So Act 2-1 showed up and apparently the mission is about a wizard (probably an empire one) that needs killing. Guess we'll see how that goes when the time comes.
Currently my skaven are dominating, a few low level deaths mostly and some low level grunts that aren't as good anymore. Heroes and leader's ability to have skill mastery (a 2nd tier more skilled version of a skill) really seems to separate the men from the boys or rats from the mice as it is with skaven . In a couple cases my black skaven has taken out a regular henchman in a couple attacks or very nearly.

Currently playing Bloodborne's "The Old Hunters" DLC. Holy feth is his crazy. I play Souls games with my friend, who has beaten them all before I even got my hands on them. So walking into the new zones with him last night was kind of cool. We were unaware of everything, looking for items, places to go, etc... Just awesome fun. And then reality of it being a Souls game came crashing back as I spent 2 hours this morning beating my head against the first boss of the DLC.

Taking advantage of this unexpected (but surely welcome) steam sale, I just got Saint's Row 4. Hopefully that will sate my appetite for destruction.
Also, looking into Fallout 3 since it costs around as much as a coffee right now, but I saw on the store page it doesn't run well on Windows 7 or later. This will be a silly question, but has anyone had any trouble running it on Windows 8?
