A bit of Civ V and Endless Legend. The battle system in EL really is refreshing after Civ V, but I really wish they would add more unit variance.

I've finally discovered why so many people hate UPlay. Darn it Ubisoft, I already paid for AC2 and Far Cry 3.

Also really getting into Dark Souls! I'm actually sort of getting better at dying without feeling bummed out enough to quit the game after dying once. Still on the Undead Burgh, but hey, I'm a newbie who's always played every game on the easiest setting. Small steps, right?

I went back to playing Dragon Age: Trespasser tonight.

Confusing game is confusing. Not the actual game, really, but all the little references, puzzles and sneaky bits while trying to build up a full picture of what is going on.

That's because The Dark Zone isn't just a PvP area.

It's also a PvE area. I had a blast in there, only ever engaging in PvP when someone started trying to kill me and they were flagged Rogue. When that happened--I got to kill them, no consequences, AND got to take their stuff!

Additionally the Dark Zone is an area that will (apparently) have to be traversed during the course of the main story, since four of the checkpoints that were available to us during the Open and Closed Betas were to areas that were "Unavailable during the beta".

Tried mod hunting for Half-Life mods. I'm too chicken for Afraid of Monsters and Cry of Fear (though I must admit they are both very well made mods), but They Hunger is looking quite nice for a horror mod.
Also thought of downloading the early version of Counter Strike (since it's on ModDB), but thought instead it might be a better idea to just buy the game when it goes on sale to avoid legal issues. Instead got one called Base Defense.
Might also look into Sven Coop. I heard that one was pretty good.

Just beat the xcom 2 game on 2nd hardest difficulty with only one reload.

Spoiler:
I accidentally summoned 2 avatars at once early in the game when you had to hack codexes and didn't know that'd happen so I died even though I took one with me. The temple battle was fairly tough. One of my guys was bleeding out with only 1 turn left on his counter and a couple of my other guys were hurt sorta bad. I lucked out with a less than 50% shot on my sniper with the boosted strength shot ability and armor piercing bullets to finish off the 3rd and final avatar. The psi lances also helped considerably as I was mostly out of cover destroying abilities and no good way to do it without making the avatars just run away. I had to retreat back when the 3rd one came around as I was getting overwhelmed.

Btw wtf is up with the super saiyan ending? Considering the hair I can't see how you couldn't make that connection
Spoiler:
(unless you imagined the avatars as those troll dolls from like the 80's)
.

It does also seem to hint at 'terror from the deep' next. I never played that game but I guess you could draw that conclusion from the ending.

------

Anyway xcom 2 is tough (2nd hardest difficulty and above I'm sure) but maybe it's just my first successful playthrough. My biggest love for the game is the almost completely destructible environments. You can throw enough ordnance at a building to collapse half of it easy.

Here's one of my pictures and I think I have one with an Advent base even more heavily destroyed.

The original Terror From the Deep was basically "reskinned X-Com, but harder". Not only did they fix the difficulty level bug from the original X-Com UFO Defense, but they also made some critical changes to the gameplay that pretty much only existed to make your life more difficult.

There is not this idea.

Terraria. Starting a new game is still more fun than the endgame, at least when playing alone.

What the game needs is a more robust world creation. The ability to choose whether a world had crimson or corruption at the start would be a plus, at least.

So since my 6th try or so was my successful nearly one try run of commander difficulty I'm trying again. This time I'm using most if not all the other class variants from the other half of the tree (gunslingers for sharpshooters, swordsman for rangers, but the other 2 classes I mixed and matched a little more. I suppose I can make some super heavy doctor specialists since without super high levels of hack skull you tend to fail everything anyway. At least there's a fairly reliable shutdown for 2 turns ability when you hack..

So far I will say swordsmen rangers are pretty freaking amazing so far. Before it was mostly just my scout that could conceal even in missions that didn't allow it. The swordsman however is very nice charging in like a madman. He's also a british guy with the incredibly over the top fancy and proper british voice (computer rolled that one up for my first mission). No deaths so far and I don't even think my ranger has been hurt much if at all yet. I will try to give him lots of mobility or dodge in the future as I imagine he'll need it. I was also planning to give him the armor that helps vs environmental hazards and then just plop a crap ton of them on all the enemies he has to fight and forcing them into bad situations by doing this. Currently poison and fire sound like the most fun thing ever but I don't know if acid does anything beyond hurting you each turn when it's on you (fire prevents the use of most special abilities while you're burning and poison gives movement penalties as well as aim penalties). So I don't imagine why acid would do nothing when you're burning from acid. Perhaps you take more damage from enemy attacks? I really need to find this out. If I remember when you hover over the enemy's symbol when targeting and it show boosts and negatives you need to hover over it to find out what they're suffering/boosted from.

Well, I can't play Xcom 2, but people keep talking it up and making me want to. Enemy within will have to do.

Waiting for the next terror mission. I'm hoping to modify my squad, so they are all candidates for the US election. I'm wondering what would happen if I were to roleplay the candidates during the mission.

Also, for the sake of funzies, decided to, "preserve," the customize information on certain soldiers who appeared to do a pretty good job. That way, in case I've lost the game, when I try again, I will have these, "special," soldiers to use later. Assault Cpt. Hyun Jung Kim is the first. Despite being in only 7 missions and having 19 kills, she has a habit of having most shots at her miss, and a lot of her shots hitting the mark. She's even at times held her own without any fire support.

Currently playing a lot of Overwatch & Final Fantasy 14. The latter of which has been a huge surprise, I tried it basically on a whim. I didn't expect much as I'd grown pretty tired of MMOs and Final Fantasy has been pretty hit or mess for a while now. However it turned out to be a lot more than a simple WoW clone and also really feels like the Final Fantasy game best at being a Final Fantasy game since 9.

What did you think of the beta?

They fixed 90% of my issues from the closed beta/alpha testing regarding the Dark Zone play.

There's still some fine tuning to be had when it comes to the Dark Zone(notably things like certain buildings/routes needing more accessibility to prevent camping by Rogue Agents). I think a lot of that might be fixed though once it comes out, since we had something like a quarter of the overall Dark Zone area available to us.

I felt the same way when I had to leave to visit my dad for a few days during release day of all times and it took probably a few days to get the game and more to download. Then after a few days of playing it decided to not play and re-download. When it finally finished it started downloading again at which point I deleted my cache and started it up to which it just went through a few quick loads and was ready to play again.

If you're talking xcom 2 then hit me up on steam some time.

Steam name is:

------

On the subject of gunslingers and melee dudes I want to give the melee guy a hazard suit armor and spray enemies with various environmental hazard weapons like fire, acid and poison (but esp. fire and poison) and then charge in with my melee dude. The poison may do the most considering it effects aim and movement speed and preventing an enemy from running is a boon to an assault.

With gunslinger I may do incendiary or venom rounds for the same reason once I get the 'take a free shot at all visible enemies' ability.

But yea, that's what I have been playing... the four levels the super hot prototype game gives me over and over again. It's so good.

So, I've been wanting to play more Dragon Age Inquisition but, somehow, it's become completely impossible for me to log into anything remotely Origin related.

Origin client: Origin Login is currently unavailable
Origin Website: This site can’t be reached accounts.ea.com took too long to respond. ERR_CONNECTION_TIMED_OUT
Star Wars Battlefront App (On my frigging tablet): Timed out.

It's driving me up the wall and, to be honest, I don't even think it's EA at fault... - I've done loads of various investigations and it all seems to come down to https://accounts.ea.com being inaccessible.

Which makes me think my router did something weird last night. - Yet I've restarted and factory reset the thing about a half dozen times tonight.

I'm really kinda out of ideas by now, aside from cross-my-fingers-and-hope-a-firmware-update-happens-overnight.
