A very cool looking pair of Helots there, mate. As others have said, that shield is fantastic. And the Cottage looks pretty cool too.

Yeah .. to bad.. Saw it played last year at Adepticon. Amazing sculpts. I personally would play it with out the Mythological creatures and just as a psudo- historical game.

Why isn't it available in UK.. Shipping?

I'd love to get the game and figures.. What I need is someone to play it with. Still they are beautiful figures by themselves.

I've been looking at some of the dark age stuff on the site. Some seriously gorgeous stuff but shipping to over here - not a happener. Shame would love to have a few of those under my brush :/ may have get some for the Eden stuff instead. Much more reasonable

They are and you dont need many to have enough for two players

Yeah I've looked at Eden as well, some nice models and it makes it easier to pick them up as they are EU based,

I have an update that contains more than one miniature this week, really going for it

So first up is the last of the models I have for the Dragyri the Spirit Lord, again I replaced the shield with one I made out of water effects. Really happy with how the gold came out on this guy.

After I finished him I had a look in my primed ready to paint box and dug out a few Malifaux minis from the starter set.

The first is a Bloodwretch with a nice flowery shirt

The other mini is the Scion of Black Blood, I think I have one more Bloodwretch left to paint to finish Angel Eyes side.

I've put myself down for a battle day at the end of October so I'm currently waiting to see if anyone wants to play me which may well heavily influence what I'm painting for the next month.

I've also been considering which chapters to paint my Calth box set in, I've had it since release and haven't touched it like a lot of other stuff

Current thoughts are Dark Angels for all the minis and use my Dark Wolves to fill in to play the game if needed or I could do half DA and the other half Thousand Sons.

Good stuff all round!

Regarding BaC, if you're thinking Thousand Sons, they're set to feature (with new unique character models) in this year's HH box set in November. So far, rumours point to specific HQ models for Wolves and Sons, generic MkIII infantry and Tartaros Termies, and some Sisters of Silence and Custodes. Might be something to bear in mind if you're planning more HH stuff.

One of the guys from Dark Age (Cool Mini or Not) saw my Spirit Lord on Facebook and asked for a tutorial on how I made the shield so they can put it on the Dark Age website, how cool is that

Malifaux models look cooo, but again the gladiators are top notch - especially the dude with the transparent shield. The floral shirt is a nice touch as well.

Any chance for a tutorial on doing those shields as well?

Cheers Azazelx, my tutorial is below if I made any more I'd prob try with a backing piece of blister to help strengthen it more

I used the original shield and applied a layer of Vallejo water effects and once dried peeled it off, then put it back on the shield and kept applying new layers to build it up over time (must be about 10 layers). I then applied a few layers of watered down pva glue to give it a bit of extra strength and finished off by applying some very watered down highlights using Vallejo Air white to add a bit of depth to the water texture

I went back and changed the shields on the weekend as the large one had started to droop a bit and you really don't want that to happen to your bits! So I inserted a layer of protection behind each one by carefully removing them and adding a piece of clear blister.

So I did a group shot with their new improved shields.

This was done while assembling Batman minis, I have quite a few. These are all waiting to be primed now, since that pic I've assembled two ninjas as well and have Lady Shiva's gang on my paint table in pieces which just leaves Swamp Thing in the box all by himself waiting to be assembled.

Of course I blame all of this on Graven as I keep seeing him posting about the new Suicide Squad box set which I may have pre-ordered
