Hmmm 2 lots of 20 will be painful won't it! :-) it's a toss up between the Punishers or Executioners with plasma sponsons! 245 points for an Executioner that has heavy 3 blast! which would be VERY painful in the right circumstances! or 200 flat for the Punisher with either bolter or flame sponsons? i'm trying to figure out what will be scariest for my potential opponents? :-) my friends have Eldar,Space Marines,Tyranids,Tau,BA,Space Wolves,Nurgle Marines..... but like Ovion said it is just for fun games and enjoyment so I can't go wrong whatever I choose really, I just like some input from those who actually understand the game lol!

I don't understand the game either, but I like what giraffe said about killing terminators. Anything you can do to kill marines is always the right choice! The Russ Punisher has the new turret style, but wouldn't the pecker..err..I mean the Plasma variant be better against power-armored troops? Guardsman only get BS3, so the usefulness of any weapon in-game is diminished by the dice roll. The Plasma variant looks like a schlong..sorry, for coolness- go with the punisher Automatically Appended Next Post: Maybe it's just me, but a turret with a pecker-shaped weapon should probably be Slaneeshi Chaos right?

Dont forget the Vanquisher as well that boy has a long one weighing in at 72" ST8 AP2 with a 1" blast, FW do a nice Stygies variant.
If you going for anti terms the two punishers will take them out due to number of shots but its not a reliable due to AP- great against horde armies though.
I agree with dsteingass on the pecker... I mean Executioner it is the best anti term weapon.
There's also the Medusa as well but its less armoured.
All depends if size matters to you
Edit: Dont forget you can run them in squadrons so you could have 2-3 punishers, 2-3 peckers and run up 2-3 Medusa's behind for the anti armour hit.
Oh then you have your Valk's, Vendetta's and Vultures (which can have a twin-linked punisher cannon) for air support.
For total air supremacy you could ally in a helturkey as well if you turned to the dark gods for support you could then take that DP you were talking about as the HQ. All too happy to spend all your money, I mean help

I can vouch for how deadly the executioner (plasma variant ) is - my bro in law and I faced off against one of these, screwed up our target priority simply through not knowing better and next thing we know, my B-i-L's army has been decimated.
HOWEVER, given the choice I'd go with the Punisher purely for how fething cool it would be to roll a couple of tanks out and throw more dice in one shooting phase as a result of those tanks than your opponent would have models on the table
Graven has it right too, bang Pask in there to really capitalise on those dice rolls

Dammit! now i'm not sure again! lol! at first i was like "yeah heavy 20 punisher booooo yeahhhhh" then i was like "yeah but it has limited purposes" then i was like "Ececutioner Booo Yeahhhhh 5 shots of plasma useful against everything!" then i was like "Oh but it looks like a penis"
so, if I have 2 Vendettas for anti tank duty, would it be a safe bet that the punisher (probably with Pask) would be a better bet for chewing through marines tac squads and maybe a termi or 2? only other thing he has worth killing is a DC dread and friends! :-)

Punishers would be the most fun, here have a bucket full of dice at ya.
If I remember rightly you cant use pasks ability if you move his tank not thats its an issue but something to consider with the short range of the punisher.

I never played IG tank armies myself, but played against them several times with tau.
The punishers where kinda lame, and not really something to fear.
Executioners on the other hand where scary in most games and I tryed to take them out asap. (not really difficult with 4 railguns however..^^)
The most scary tanks where the standart leman russ.
They are pure nightmare to every other army out there.

Hmmm interesting take there, everything I've read to date has really been negative towards the good 'ol workhorse standard Leman Russ! especially as the variants are so powerful, but in saying that, if I have 2 Vendettas flying around, 2 Executioners are really gonna mess with his head right? I do plan on grabbing some more standard Russes down the track but for now I need to give my force some punch!

Thing about the Executioner is they are kinda shortranged (yes I play tau, everything under 72" is shortranged.. XD)
and really expansive, also because of the small templates they tend to miss several shots.
The Battletank on the otherhand can hit everywhere and will hit something most of the times.
They rarely scatter so much that there is nothing under the 5" template.
Maybe put it that way: the Executioner are really scary when they come close to your army,
but are a bit more managable and predictable than the Battletanks.
But yea, with the vendettas flying arround it should be quite effective.

Well, it won't hurt to give it a shot then will it lol! I have 1 battle tank which i'll add to later, but I think the Executioner may be the ticket for me :-) it's still longer range than the punisher and will give him something he can't forget about on the table! now I just need to make sure i can make it look cool with it's supposed phallic armament ;-)

If I can submit my humble opinion on the tank matter I would suggest the Executioner or stock LRBT. For the sake of cool definately go with throbbing pink, tha'd be epic. To the tank though I think people often forget how effective multiple blasts can be when comming from the same unit firing. On average a stock LRBT can hit say 5-6 guys from a single direct hit (give or take) large blast template. When its part of a squadron you resolve eace template BEFORE you remove casualties. That said, two LRBT's can easilly score a whopping 8-12 S8, AP3 hits on a unit even with scattering due to maximum target density when firing. When you apply that same principle to the Executioner....holy crap. I've played with and against pairs and trio's of them. They are not to be trifled with. Due to the get's hot rule though i'd not suggest puting the plasma sponsons on there. Just use heavy bolter sponsons and keep the points managable (plus the range synergizes with the plasma).

Yea when it comes to playing,Im more for fun,but you still want a chance to win at least. So as cool an idea it is rolling an Orks worth of dice from a giant gatling gun,its just not a decent enoughh tank. Maybe if you took a bunch of them.... but even still, roughly half wont hit, so youll need those 10hits to do magic. But against squishy things, I could see them doing damage.

O.k i'm now sold on the Executioner! i'll buy 2 as soon as finances allow (or I 'make' finances allow!) then I'll paint the glow in a purple/pink style if I can get it to look right I can always get some Punishers in the future, but for now, like KC mentioned i'm all for the cool but I would still like it to be decent if I play!
and exciting news on the Nerd Cave front! I moved all my Nerdness into the new Nerd room and it feels like home! just need to figure out the best way to mount and hang some posters I have, then it's on to the Nerdness! I have got my tank accesories from China, so a bucket load of canvas rolls, tarps, duffel bags etc. to glue on my tanks, then I'll start priming and chipping them and I also got a msg from my dad (bless his cotton socks) he's finally printed the stained glass windows out for me to use in my buildings! so after an excruciating wait I should get them tomorrow and be able to do something over the weekend!
another little paint question? you've seen the colour i'm painting my guards fatigues right? and now I'm planning on adding camo, does anyone have any designs that would work well with only the addition of 2 other colours? I'm thinking of a light bone and a dark reddish brown? or green? I like stronger designs like the ones that use triangles and sharper edges, but i'm open to any suggestions
