Theo I think the claws will end up o.k the plan is light at the tips and really dark at the base so it won't be as obvious as if they're sporting weaponized Eggplants. (Omg! Vegan Marines!!)

now with my hobby progress I mentioned I was up to date with my work for others and I am so I'm slowly relaxing and compartmentalizing what i'm going to do next, obviously my own Minotaurs army will feature until they're done and I have to buy more models!

I also sold my gaming board and have a blank table in the garage, I also threw in my terrain (a lot of it) to sweeten the sale, so I now need to build and paint more gaming terrain and another table! my idea for the table layout is using cork tiles in a 4x4 to add cracks and distressed features with only a light coat of filler over them, this will enable me to still place buildings level and form a solid base for any Necromunda shenanigans if they happen :-) also one day in the future I plan on owning a FW Zone Mortalis set so the 4x4 section will also let me place the tiles on there nicely.

So, what have you got to look forward from me?

*My own Minotaurs army
*Alpharius' Alpha Legion army
*gaming table build and detail
*terrain from Deadzone and scratch built
*3 Characters for RiTides
*4 Kastelan for Whaley that have languished far too long.

I must be providing some pretty ordinary content lately maybe a few update pics will bring you out of the woodwork?

I got the reds done on the Mino's this morning, the Hecaton Morbus Contemptor is going to really look good with his battle brother Aikios! who I may add is actually a bigger model than the standard contemptors! larger torso and fist quite noticeably.

and the termies and command.

I've got a bit of a tidy up to do then the other details and they'll be ready for the cabinet! ....... until I get to play

You know Nerdy, I really love the way the brownish "older" metal works with the stark silver scratches and highlights. Really nice job on that. Purple claws are cool too... love me some purple! I do think the pristine red is a big incongruous when compared with the heavily damaged metals... but that's your call. It certainly does make them look striking and points out the quality of your blending capability.

Thanks Gits, I know the reds probably need some damage but I kinda just like the look of the contrast :-) plus I like to think the armour isn't 'beat up' per-se but sort of showing light dings and imperfections that they've just buffed over and kept as a badge of honor. plus did I mention the red looks good against the metal? :-)

I think the reds are stunning, but need some weathering to tie them together. I'm glad to see the honor guard transitioned from fists to bulls ok as well.

Amazing work as always, the Minos are looking spectacular that red is stunning. Your work on the butchers is amazing bud, the blood effect is perfect and the choice of heads spot on. Inspired as usual thanks.

The Minos command and Contemptor look great, but I have to agree with the others. Just the smallest amount of scratches would bring the shoulders together and unify them with the rest of the squad's armour. Similar to what you did with the Predator, essentially.

Hey guys i finished some Minotaurs for my army! Hecaton Morbus and the Termies are done. Really starting to build them up now only the Command to finish then I can have a break and organise the Nerd room again and wait for the next batch of models (and i'll probably work slowly on the tanks for the Mino's)

Termies ready!

I accidentally forgot to send the bases for Gits' Crawlers so I'm guessing this is how he looked Brother sergeant Splitta from henceforth.

Luvverly work on these Minos, Damo. I'm really enjoying watching your guys grow, and it's definitely helping to keep me honest and on task for my guys. It'd be pretty amazing to have a 2-on-2 game with you allying our armies against another pair one day.

So I have bought a couple of the Deadzone terrain building kits over the last few weeks and just started mucking around with them good kits for the price, pretty basic assembly and not as detailed or flush fitting as GW but I can certainly let that slide since I'll be weathering and dirtying them up for a combined 40K/Necromunda style of building so any imperfections are not going to bother me rather than the overarching image they provide.

Although basic to build and work with a set of instructions even basic would have helped me organise my parts, it seems I've used a railing part as a half floor on one part and i'm not 100% on what's floor or wall or how to set it up for ladders in a design, but again for the price i'm happy to just make this up as I go along but if anyone can help me identify what's a wall/floor/railing/ladder hole?

The plan is to get a basic collection of square buildings built, one two and three level structures with areas I can then add walkways to connect them for Necromunda play and also have them placed normally as 40K terrain. I will be making my own walkways for the majority when i get to that part, but this point i'm just seeing what i can make.

Colour scheme is quite possibly a ochre yellow this I believe will look good done over the terrain and lend itself to weathering really well (I mean just look at Dave's stuff!) also since my Minotaurs are a dark metal and the board base will have a red dust element I think this colour will offset the models rally well!

I'll try and get enough badly built terrain to show you tomorrow I have plans that means you won't really notice I hope when it's finished.

lol Ive had so many WTF am I putting together in this hobby. The basilisk I used for my Ork BoomGun tank was 2nd hand unassembled but had no instructions. I remember putting the floor of the tank on upside down and I slotted one part in the wrong slot so 2 steps later I realized Oops.....that wasnt right. All you can do is squint your eyes, scratch your head and pretend youre not an idiot

Great work on the Minotaurs. I'm torn on the shoulder pads... some scarring on them would look great. But the red does look fantastic against the weathered metal.

Yeah I can be a perfectionist but if I let that lapse then I seem to just go the other way completely i'm like 'it's not really straight and it doesn't look quite right..... nahhhh she'll be right with some paint!..... hmmm about those sprue points I forgot..... ahhh what the hell it's character building!'
which means I'll just keep on going and see where it takes me, I think I need a couple of the ruined building sprues as well i've noticed, so that's next up.

insaniak wrote:Great work on the Minotaurs. I'm torn on the shoulder pads... some scarring on them would look great. But the red does look fantastic against the weathered metal.

Thanks Insaniak, I'm also torn but I think i'll leave some little weathering on the larger red models parts I like the look too much should have the command squad up tomorrow as well as some dodgy buildings...

So I have built some more of the terrain I've added a few bits and pieces to fill it out a little and i'm waiting on some ruined sprues to add to the buildings i've built already for some floors and edges leading to the ground.

I kinda like what i've done without really knowing what I was doing sort of a bunker type assembly and a couple of storage areas also a little ramp made from the floor of a Land Raider I will go back through my bits boxes and add more pipes and rods to hide some flaws.

I also got the finished pics of the Command squad for the Minotaurs, glad they're all done and ready to go to war now! and yes I did forget to take one of the guys individual pics he must have been in the toilet polishing his bolter

hope that gives you something to enjoy today

That command squad is hands down one of the coolest sets of Marines I've seen, so characterful and every one unique.

Needs a Company Standard Bearer though, can't see the Minos going into battle without an Ancient bearing their colours...

Why thank you gentlemen on the comments, I agree the command needs a standard bearer for sure! and an Apothecary, both I'll be keen to paint up when I can get them :-)

I also think i'm happier now I moved my Nerd Lair back around to how it was originally, I moved it and it threw out my Chi which meant I couldn't paint as well due to the lighting, nor could I take pics the same and it was quite the process to move so I left it in hope i'd get used to it.

I started these today, washed nuln and washed Agrax so far so not much, just enough to change the tone and get a feel for them

only question I have is what head for the gunner? I've just tacked in a few to see what you think!

and the head selection

flowy movement hair as the tank goes forward?

Greek style BA head

Bald bionic

rebreather head

FW yelly head

Automatically Appended Next Post:
I finished up the Red Butchers sergeant and I think he looks perfectly suitable for them as a rampaging deranged squad of blood drenched maniacs I had a few things I wanted to convey when painting them, I wanted to still add the blood and spatter but I wanted to not go overboard and I also wanted it to look more realistic, like layers of gore and viscera dried on and then coated in fresh life blood.

The armour had to be white, but it had to be weathered and grimy, not dirty and decrepit like Death Guard but still battered and serviceable keeping in mind these guys don't ever leave it, and they just get hung up in the bowels of a ship frothing and straining to be unleashed again on the field of battle.

I also wanted to get his face to show the snarl and strain of the single mindedness he endures along with reddening around the chains in his head. the pose I like angled like this as if he's moving at speed through the debris using the terrain to force himself off towards you.

so here's a few pics of the first finished guy!

So there ya go, my first white armoured model, a challenge to be sure and a time consuming style for me but certainly something I can do again

Hello there NerdFest, your Minos are just fantastic, the weathering on the bronze armour looks fantastic.

But this guy.....I have a huge softspot for Pre-Heresy World Eaters. You have brought him to life, when I read a Horus Heresy book with World Eaters in it this is how I picture them. Great model and great painting. I would love to see more of these guys.

Thanks guys, so we're thinking at this stage, either the Greek head (it'll be painted properly) or the Tech bionic head so far? I was thinking the Rebreather head for the same reason Whaley looks a bit more techmarine. but then the Greek head gives him that calm confidence that I think the Mino's have in spades

I'll try and do some more on the tanks this arvo, it'd be nice to have them done as well, it means if I paint some Assualt marines I can have a game in my holiday time! after I build a game board that is but that'll only take me a day.
